Scientists Discover That Some Rattlesnakes Evolve Simpler, More Targeted Venoms Instead of Complex Toxic Mixtures Because Limited Prey Diversity in Isolated Habitats Rewards Ecological Efficiency Over Chemical Variety

My new Copperhead
Me and a coworker recently went and rescued 7 venomous snakes from a crackhouse after the guy got arrested and his family called us to rehome them. I can say I’m very pleased with my new copperhead and she (we believe it’s possibly a female) seems to be in much better condition after a few days, a nice meal, and lots of water. It’s such a shame the condition we found these snakes in, not a single one had even a drop of water and the 3 copperheads we did find were zip tied in a bin with nothing in it except a small amount of bedding.
What makes vipers so popular as pets?
I’m not getting one, just curious
Found this little lute while herping
He was released afterwards
Gaboon viper fang
My gaboon shed a fang. Sometimes rarely I'll find fangs in my snake's poop. This was an awesome find.
Venomous handling classes
I have been wanting to get into the venomous handling for quite sometime due to going to college for vet tech and as a whole being obsessed with reptiles which is why I even want to get into vet tech. I live in the Houston Texas area and would love to find a class or handler that could help me start my journey on respecting the hot ones a lot better and maybe even opening my field a bit more. Just anything to get me going in the right direction! Would love any of y’all’s advice and connections.
