A few assorted restaurants of Niagara Falls, New York.

Pete's Market House, Cataract House, Hotel Niagara, Louis Restaurant, Treadway Inn, Crystal Restaurant. To this day an old established restaurant in the Niagara Falls/Buffalo/Western NY area is still a thousand times better than any modern place in terms of food, Chef's Restaurant in Buffalo has a server named Shirley who is in her nineties and has worked there over 50 years. I would also give a kidney to eat at the Press Box again.

A Simple but hearty 1936 Fourth of July dinner for the 733rd Company of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) at Sebastopol Camp SCS-4 in California.

The Civilian Conservation Corps established
Sebastopol Camp SCS-4 in California during the mid-1930s, and the 733rd Company occupied and developed the camp's soil erosion control projects during this timeframe.

Menu sign from the 50s (?), Clear Spring, MD

I snapped this about a decade and a half ago. I think this is from the old Wilson Motel & Diner, along the National Road near the Conococheague Creek. It operated in the 40s and 50s so I assume it's from that era. It became a grocery store from the 70s to the 90s, and in the 2000s operated for a while as a sandwich shop, where this was hanging as decor. I went there to get some lunch for my parents, which is when I took this. The sandwich shop moved location later and the building has passed through several hands although the old motel cabins still stand...

Anyway, I love the prices here, and the mystery of the steamed whatever continues to nag at me.
