Legacy containers on Ascent 3500i

Anyone know if the 48oz and 64oz containers from the Explorian range physically fit the Ascent series e.g. Ascent 3500i.

I know an NFC chip is required but if I bypass that requirement, will the containers physically fit?

The back story is, there's a good second hand deal on an Ascent 3500i base only and I have Explorian containers already.

Help is the Ascent x5 worth it?

Is the Ascent x5 worth the money? I am not a fan of touch screens in general but if there is a notable benefit to the Ascent x5 then I would get it. I also don’t want the experience in the future of possibly not being able to use it because it is no longer supported or something like what happens with printers. Should I get an Ascent x model or a A5200? Thanks!

Refurbished?

Have anyone here have bought a refurbished blender directly from vitamix.
Are they good as need? Or should I wait and buy a new one?

Hard to reach debris

Hey all,

I noticed after my last batch of dill hot sauce that there was a stem that got wrapped around underneath the blade.

Anyone have any good solutions to getting under and getting it without taking the base apart? Or is that the other option?

Thanks in advance

Ninja Detect Blender overheating after 3 minutes!?

Didn't know where else to task...

Got myself a Ninja Detect 3 in 1 Blender Combo.

Tried the blender and the single serve smoothie cups, but after a few minutes (3-4) it stops and shows "E1".

I was about to send it back but gave it another try. Filled the smoothie cup with water and a little dish soap, put it in manual mode and let it run for 3 minutes. You have to restart every 60 seconds which is pretty annoying. But when I tried to start a 4th time it showed "E1". The same thing happened when I tried to blend some yogurt.

Is this normal? Also how are some recipes saying you have to blend for 6-7 minutes, when it turns off after just 3?

The only reason I got a Ninja is to make "anabolic ice cream". All the videos I saw showed (older) Ninja Blender, said to blend the mixture for a while...

Is it overheating? It's like 30°C/ 86°F inside...

Plastic Free Blender

I can't spend hundreds of dollars on a blender.

I ordered the Oster Pro 1200 from Amazon to replace my Nutribullet for making smoothies for my family. My main concern is eliminating microplastics and chemical leaching as much as possible.

According to the company, the gasket is made of food grade rubber.

I've used it twice now. The only things that come into contact with the food are stainless steel, borosilica glass, and a tiny edge of that rubber gasket.

After market gasket replacements are silicone.

Now the blender has plastic components, unfortunately. The lid is plastic, but if you use the blender correctly and don't overfill it, the food doesn't abrade the plastic lid parts. Parts of the base are also plastic like the buttons and the machine housing.

This is the most affordable blender I've found that has the necessary power to actually blend a smoothie and has no microplastic or leaching concerns.

I hope this helps people. I spent days searching for one with enough watts that I could afford.

The glass blending cup is only 48oz. If they ever make a 64oz replacement, I'll buy it.

Does the SS container ever go on sale 😭

Noticed that the annual sale is up, yet the stainless steel container is still full price as it usually is. Does it ever go on sale? I feel like I’ve been eyeing it for months!

Refurbished Alta pro vs explorian?

Sorry guys made a post earlier but am now deciding between explorian with programs or Alta pro they are both similar price so not sure. I just make smoothies usually in morning that is all but maybe will make frozen margaritas or drinks in future. My biggest concern is noise? I think explorian is much louder my sister has Alta pro and it has been so quiet.

Problems with mayonnaise recipe (Model 5200) from Vitamix cookbook

I have made homemade mayonnaise (recipe below) using the recipe from the cookbook that came with the Vitamix 5200 I purchased 6 years ago. I have had success in the past with this recipe, but the last few attempts have been duds where the mix is too thin. I've tried the recommendations to slowly add more oil and that doesn't work. I've tried the recommendations to whisk the runny mayo into a tablespoon of warm water, not successful. I've tried to whisk it into a room temperature egg yolk, no dice. My ingredients are room temperature.

I'm looking for suggestions from people who have experience with mayonnaise making in the 5200.

Mayonnaise (yield: 1 cup)

3 large pasteurized eggs

1-2 tablespoons lemon juice (I use 1 tablespoons)

1/4 teaspoon Dijon-style mustard

1 1/4 teaspoons dry mustard

1/4 teaspoon salt

3/4 cup canola oil

  1. Place eggs, lemon juice, mustards, and salt into the Vitamix container in the order listed and firmly secure lid.

  2. Select Variable 1 (I start at level 1)

  3. Start machine and slowly increase speed to Variable 5. Remove lid plug.

  4. While machine is running, slowly drizzle half the oil in a thin, steady stream through the lid opening. Slowly increase to highest speed and drizzle remaining oil throug the lid plug opening. As mixture begins to thicken, the oil may be added at a faster rate *(my mix thickens at this point so I add the other half of the oil...then something goes wrong)*. Process should take no longer than 1 minute.

  5. Stop machine and stir in any oil sitting on top.

  6. Store mayonnaise refrigerated in a sealed container for 2-4 weeks.

Assistance with blender selection during sale

Been on fence to buy a blender for a while hoping for a sale to pop up. I wanted to get a 5200 which sadly is not part of their sale. Is the Ascent on sale for roughly same price worth it? My guess is no?

Also been waiting for a certified reconditioned without luck.

Does the 48oz blend as good as the 64oz tall?

A few days ago I got a Vitamix A2500 for $200. Ideally I wanted to get the classic line with the 64oz tall container but the price was so good that decided to pull the trigger. Also because I have the intnetion to purchase the stainless steel 48oz container so I thought not having the classic tall container would not be an issue once I have the 48oz one.

However as I have been reading more I have seen some mixed reviews. Some people say the 64oz tall produces smoother and better blends than the 48oz and now I am not sure what to do anymore. I even saw a review on Amazon of someone complaining that thier 48oz stainless steel jar blended worse than their 64oz tall.

Is there anyone here with both the tall 64oz and the 48oz that can speak to the blending difference?

32oz pitcher

Does anyone know why they retired the 32oz pitcher? Would a 32oz and 48oz work just as good for smaller portion frozen smoothie bowls?

A3500i – burning/electrical smell from the motor. Has anyone experienced this?

Hi everyone,
I have a Vitamix Ascent A3500i that I bought in December 2022.
Although I have owned it for almost 4 years, I have actually used it for less than 3 years in total, and not every day.
Recently, I started noticing a strange smell coming from the motor. I would describe it as a burning, electrical or varnish-like smell.
The blender still works normally, and I don’t notice any unusual noise or loss of power. What I find strange is that I notice the smell more when blending more liquid mixtures, while I don’t notice it when making thick cashew cream.
Has anyone with an A3500 or A3500i experienced something similar?

Where can I buy Vitamix 5200 in London?

After watching a bajillion videos on which blender to buy, I finalised the Vitamix 5200 but can’t find it anywhere in London. On the official website, they have the E series (E310), but I found a lot of bad reviews about them.

Ascent X3?

There are nice deals on Ascent X3 right now- is it a great blender? I’ve seen some reviews saying the self detect messes up a lot? But I’ve heard this is one of the quietest Vitamixes

Refurbished a2500 vs explorian?

Hi all, I don’t know much about vitamix but I know they are the best and I am looking at sale currently. I mainly make vegetable and fruit smoothies. I see that the a2500 retails for more and is more discounted but the explorian is cheaper overall.

Can anyone explain the difference between the two? Thank you so much.

15 year old vitamix fixed, I've fallen back in love.

All it needed was a new drive socket. I had been avoiding using it for years because it did not sound right to me.
A new drive socket and it works as good as brand new. I am SO glad I didn't buy a ninja. Now that it's back to tip top shape I am back to making homemade almond milks, nut butters and green smoothies.

Vitamix for life.

What's the best Vitamix blender model? (Price and reliability)

We all know that Vitamix makes one of the best value blenders available on the market. I personally own the E310, but I know the 5200 is also really popular here. What do you guys have and how long has it lasted? I'm on year 6!
