Escort (Spiritual Court) Reading

Does anyone know Mambos / Houngans / practitioners of Haitian Vodou that do Escort (Spiritual Court) readings?

I spoke to one person today that told me their initial fee was $350 + $40 for a bottle of Barbancourt rum for a total of $390.

People are allowed to charge what they charge, but damn - I thought this was very expensive! Any opinions about this?

Our Kouzen Group Lamp Table for Service and Community

I wanted to share our Group Lamp altar/table that we prepared for service. Every part of it was placed with intention — the colors, the foods, the candles, the veves and cloths, the tools, the offerings, and the spirits we are honoring through community and prayer.

We included fresh fruits and vegetables, breads and cakes, flowers, drinks, candles, fabrics, and items connected to the lwa and to the people gathered around this work. The table reflects both reverence and hospitality: feeding the spirits, feeding the community, and creating space for prayer, protection, and connection.

I especially love how alive this setup feels with all the color and movement — the blue cloths, bandanas, straw work, handmade pieces, and the mixture of sacred and everyday items together in one space. To me, that balance is part of the beauty of Vodou: spirit and daily life are not separated.

Respect to all who serve with sincerity. Bondye beni nou. 🕯️🇭🇹

Interested in the tradition

I am a black american not of Haitian decent who has been involved with western occultism for some years and i am interested in vodou.

Ive been interested in it for awhile but was under the impression that I would need an initiation to get results and I live in the Midwest so in person initiation is unlikely.

Im wondering if I do in fact need an initiation in order to work with the lwa in a meaningful way. And do i need to have haitian lineage

And I would also like some resources on where I can learn the basics of the tradition please.
