Finally got around to installing my StreetGlow Neon

Well worth the money and extra effort to do true neon tubes, rather than LED strips. Was a bigger project than I expected and took 5 hours without instructions, but well worth the effort. Went to a car cruise on the 4th and saw other people with LED underglow, and it just isn't the same as the perfect even glow we had in the 90's and StreetGlow is bringing back to the market with their Gold Series.

Engine shake after PCC and injectors

Recently replaced the pcv system and fuel injectors, engine now shakes at idle and can be felt through the steering wheel, it does not look like any vacuum leaks are present, is there a common cause for this after PCV system replacement or fuel injector replacement? The fuel rail popped off the fuel line, I couldn't find anything on putting it back on correctly so maybe there is air getting in through there throwing the air/fuel mix off? I appreciate any help trying to solve this.

Auto gearbox maintenance

Thats it, I bought a working gearbox while waiting for the owner of the car to find the paperwork and hand methe car (850 Turbo). I haven’t turned on the car, the previous owner don’t know wich is the issue with the car, only that was a gearbox issue (car is parked from 2018)

Best case is just a bad done maintenance (here nobody knows how to work auto gearboxes)

Worst case, I have to replace the gearbox with the working one that i bought.

In that case, what preventive maintenance can i do to bulletproof the working gearbox ? I read about solenoid issues, should i replace something? Coming from a BMW where preventive maintenance requires tear apart the whole engine, so maybe I have some trust issues.

Thanks!

What's this wiring for?

Greetings, everyone!
I started my 1993 Volvo 850 today and noticed a loud humming noise, and when I disconnected the connector on the picture (The one by the passenger headlamp) It immediately stopped.

Any help will be greatly appreciated

From blown china coilovers, to Subaru Cusco awesomeness

Nice little upgrade. Proper suspension with the added bonus of proper camber adjustment 👌

Transmission preventative / upkeep or leave be?

94 850 NA with less than 100k miles

I don’t have any transmission issues thankfully

Is there anything I should do to keep it that way?

Or is it best to leave alone?

Sounds clicky after timing belt

After breaking far to many things i finally got the everything lined up and adjusted. I started the car and it seems to run fine but has a bit more clickyness to it....

When i took the old belt off i marked the cams because one was slightly twords each side if the window. And the new belt is fitted the same.

After turning it on i checked the timing marks and it seems to be in time still.

Im worried that i fked up the engine...i definitely started it when it was out of time by a tooth initially.....

does wastegate max travel affects presure?

I've been running a billet wastegate actuator on my TD04HL-16T for a few months and can't get boost past 9 psi, no matter what spring or preload I use. It always falls off at mid to high RPM.

When I compared it to the stock actuator, I noticed the stock one only has about 10 mm of travel, while the billet one has around 15–20 mm. Could the extra travel be causing the wastegate to open too far and bleed off boost?

I've tried different springs, different preload settings, and even stock preload specs with no change.

My thought was to use a lighter spring and shorten the rod as much as possible so the wastegate can't open as far, while still keeping the correct preload. Does that make sense, or am I looking at this the wrong way?

Or is the ECU simply commanding the TCV to open the wastegate more for some other reason?

Car: 1996 Volvo 850 T5, almost Stage 0.

  • Only codes are for bad ABS sensor readings.
  • radiator is leaking (idk if it pulls timing for this)
  • Turbo was rebuilt (not sure what was replaced, maybe just the CHRA).
  • Fuel pressure set at 3.5–3.8 bar.

Opinion ; roadtrip with an 850 sedan

In few weeks, I'll take my 850 from Belgium to Swiss for a roadtrip/wedding party. But I was wodering if some special work is mandatory before 1600km in 4-5 days by this warm (45°c). I've already done timing belt 6 years/40-45 000km ago. And during the last 2 years ; New brakes, all filters + 10w40, sparks, steering ball joint, CV boot and differential seal. Suspensions are ok.

Except a real alignment for my wheels that I want to do. Do you think guys that I need to do the flushing works like cooling, brakes and steering before ? Have you some advices ?

Thanks in advance, have a great day 🔥

Need help with my A/C system

Hello and thanks in advance to everybody who can help! Since I bought my 850 about a year ago, the A/C didn't work (what a surprise). The car was built in 1995 and is equipped with the manual A/C. A friend of mine is a mechanic, and we started diagnosing different things and read through about every forum on the topic. Today I've got the system filled by my local mechanic, and still the compressor clutch won't engage. Below I list everything we tested and is known to be good to us:

-Low pressure switch (jumped it with a wire)

-The Fuses

-Compressor Clutch (Hooked an external power supply to it, and the clutch engaged)

-The two A/C relays (those behind the glovebox)

-The A/C panel switch: the little white light turns on with ignition but not when the engine is running?

-Replaced the high-pressure switch (behind the right headlight - mine has four cables)

-Measured if there was a break in a wire leading to the compressor from the relay and the pressure switches to the ECU - all according to some wiring diagrams we have found online.

That's all we know. Does somebody have a clue what else we could check?

96 850 missing Guard II module?

My relay panel has the brown 210 jumper and an empty 211 position. Does this mean Guard II was never fitted, or has the 210/211 module been removed?

Can I install the correct module and remote to get factory remote central locking working?

Thanks.

Vacuum Nipple No Hose?

Looking to see if this nipple is a vent or needs to be connected to a vacuum line. I didn't see any loose ones, but wanted to be sure.

I was chasing down a P0103 code and was looking for leaks on the intake side in addition to cleaning up the massive amounts of oil and gunk, so hopefully cleaning the PCT helped since a different MAF didn't.
