Still very much WIP, but some decent progress.
C&C very welcome. In particular on the ‘allocation’ of colours. I think it works but some of the cream fatigues are a little a risk of being lost amongst all the fur!
I will add some more detail to the base too (bit of sand / static grass etc) which should help with balance of the palette too.
With the MTO expanding my collection, finally got a model out to practice the paint scheme on. Would you suggested to go lighter on the fur and red tunic?

Couldn't justify buying the new kits, so painted this up with a scion flag I wasn't using as a consolation. Very happy with how it turned out
I think I’ve decided to take the plunge with a Vostroyan army for this MTO release and I’m looking for advice!
Bit of background - like many of you I was a kid into warhammer in the early 2000’s and often dreamed of a vostroyan army but could never afford more than one blister pack. Fast forward 20 years and i’ve got back in the hobby, have grown up money and am considering buying a bunch.
However, being realistic with myself I probably wont start this army for a couple of years - I have a space marine army half painted, a small Ork army thats unfinished, and I’ll be buying the armageddon box to add to these - i’m a very slow painter so it will be a while before I get round to starting guard.
My goal army would be 2000pts and would consist of a lot of tanks, so i wouldn’t need 100+ infantry - but what I wouldn’t want to do would be to order too few troops and wish I had more!
I was thinking a platoon and 2 infantry squads - but would 2 platoons be better? Would I need more little men?
I have some steel legion that I know are recasts that are smaller than the legit ones I have. I have some vostroyans but am not sure if they are legit. Can anyone provide a height measurement on a couple models so I can try to figure out if mine are legit? My sergeants seem especially small compared to the rest of the riflemen. Minicompare says they should be 34-36mm from top of base to top of hat
I remember being a kid when the Fall of Medusa V campaign was running and seeing the Vostroyans and being utterly obsessed but unable to afford them. Its nice to finally be able to live out 10 year old me's dreams. Now to buys some tanks... 🤔
Finally started painting up the chap on a bear that I converted over four years ago, and a more recent conversion. Very much WIP - just mapping out a few colour choices at the moment and see what works.

I nabbed Vostroyans Saturday at my local GW. I was lurking the GW website when the minis dropped a day early down under, so I could get a good look at what minis were available. My plan was to maximize the types of models I could get with a minimum of spending.
The Platoon kit comes with the command squad, heavy weapons (lascannons only), and 2 infantry squads.
The “Commander” (Sergeant) with Power Sword and Plasma pistol is in one infantry squad along with a grenade launcher.
The “Commander” with Power Fist is in the second squad along with a plasma gunner. The standalone squad is led by the Commander with Chainsword, and that squad has a Flamer.
So if you buy 1 Platoon and 1 squad, you get all the leaders available in the MTO, and all special weapons EXCEPT the snipers. You need to get the Mortar and Heavy Bolter separately.
I think I’m just going to kitbash mortars of heavy bolters, or do the 3^(rd) party thing with Les Grognards.

I got an email to say my Vostroyans are already on their way with delivery expected Friday (UK). I'm guessing they had some stuff ready to go, unless the email was sent in error.
Hello, I am considering starting warhmmer 40k and am thinking of doing a Vostryoyan army, how many boxes and what would I need from Warhammers made to order page?
Selection of my old original painted and current collection. Maybe time to bring them out again in 11th.
I have been lucky enough to have found a gentleman that had a ton of the guys and worked out a good deal for me. This is where it currently stands and I have around 60 more to go.
Current crusade has seen them help halt the expansion of the Tau, repulse a chaos incursion, and contain a Necon tomb world awakening. My crusade team leader has dubbed them “The Iron Bloods” because they have held with grit and determination no matter the fight.
The ones in black and silver I’ll give a honorable mention. The “Bukavac”(Kasrkin) have tallied 11 kills so far while not falling on the battlefield and look to do more.

I got 15 vostroyans to paint for fun the last time they went MTO. I fell in love with the sculpts and regretted not buying big, So GW really got me this time when I saw they were coming back…
Did the commander have both a sword and a baton/scepter option?
Or did I hallusinate?

The sculpt seems to have been in both the old platoon box and regiment box. I know there were also Vostroyan casualty sculpts that aren't part of the current MTO, but that seems understandable since they're just for scenery.

Yeah the price HURTS a LOT. Cant say im happy about that. Buuuuuut its also a graduation gift for myself. I never had a chance to get vostroyan firstborn and have been a huge fan of them for at least 8 or so years now. So I did pull the trigger. This says 180 days so anywhere from the next few months to Mid November these may come.
Part of my logic in not buying the special weapon guys is $35 is INSANE for a single guy, and I already have a unholy amount of guard/traitor guard special weapons sitting around, as well as Solar Auxilia, so Im sure I can figure something out.
Looking forward to receiving my metal sons of Vostroya. I've never worked on a metal mini before, but theres a first time for everything!
I mean I figured they be abit costly but 72 for a single model 83 for 1 heavy weapon team and the 445 for the set idk if I can with the rising prices of other things guess I have the rest of the month to figure it out but I wasn’t expecting these to cost so much maybe I’m the delusional one
