Do you also have this?

Does your Mercedes also have this gap between the hood and the front bumper?

Edit: for context I changed the front headlights and I didn’t remember wether I had this gap or not before. Now I realize it’s normal and I did nothing wrong. Anyways if anyone is thinking about changing their front headlights and needs help let me know

2005 W203 C230 Kompressor (M271) oil consumption - normal or issue?

Hey guys,

I have a 2005 Mercedes C230 Kompressor W203 with the 1.8 supercharged M271 engine with 185,000 kms.

About 2600–2800 km ago, I changed the oil. Recently I checked the oil level from the dashboard menu while the engine was cold and had been sitting for around 1–2 days, and it showed about 4.3L.

The engine is usually driven normally, but sometimes I do hard pulls/full throttle.

A few things I noticed:

  • Slight oil consumption
  • Some suction/pulsing when removing oil cap
  • No oil leaks
  • No smoke that I’ve noticed
  • No oil pressure warnings
  • Car otherwise drives fine

I’ve been reading about the M271 PCV/breather system and diaphragm issues, so now I’m wondering:

  1. Is this amount of oil consumption normal for an older supercharged M271?
  2. Does this sound more like a PCV/breather issue?
  3. How much oil usage considered normal on these engines?

Would appreciate advice from people familiar with the M271.

W203 cluster & range

Hi everyone,

I've been driving the C180(2001) since a while now, though i'm a bit worried about the gas consumption. I'm perfectly aware that it is a 2.0 aspirated but it wouldn't hurt to observe real time data to adjust driving style for efficiency.

Looking around the cluster I noticed that the 2 main values observed are "SINCE START" and "RANGE", except these two are not real time, more like a mean value.

While they give a rough indication, of which i doubt its precision, I was wondering if there is anyway to potentially enable some secret menus that could tell real time consumption like km/litre or litre/100km (just like SINCE START but live).
Or even, if via OBD2 there is something useful that can be obtained.

How precise are the values "SINCE START" and "RANGE"?
Is there a way to provide the cluster with real time data?

Thanks

Repairabilty and Parts supply

I have question for yall. how easy is it for u guys to repair those cars? i have had now multiple mercedes mechanics tell me that it is more worth to invest in my w204 coupe then into the w203. while i tend say yes, i cant give away my grandfathers car, i am too emotionally attached to it. issue is i have the gearbox module out as it is broken and it has been standing for around three years now with no service and in need of new brakes, besides the sides on the car showing rust flowers. currently i am broke fuck and need a daily, so hence i have the w204, but is it realistic trying to restore my w203 or do i have to give in and leave it as a ornament on my driveway?

I have a short commute on the freeway to and from work, and when I get off the freeway into town, my c240 revs high when I come to the first stop. Everyday it does this. Is this related to the MAF sensor?
