For those who moved here, how long did it take you to build a community?

We moved here almost a year ago, and at first I thought we’d make friends, have fun in the neighborhood and overall, have a community.

Unfortunately that hasn’t been the case for us, our kids are very young, and unfortunately the neighbors keep to themselves even at the HOA pool.

So curious to hear from your experience and any advice is welcome.

Husband evaluating job offer in Durham. Is living in Wake Forest too far?

My husband has a job offer in Durham. We would be relocating from Washington, DC.

We are looking at places to live, we have two young kids, our oldest is starting Kindergarten in the Fall. I have looked online and I really like the Wake Forest community from what I’ve seen. Do you think that if he takes a job in Durham, which would be a hybrid solution coming into the office only part of the week, would living in Wake Forest be too much of a hassle with the commute?

After the Jim Thompson media...is it worth it to join the Chamber of Commerce?

We are new to the area and a new non-profit. Obviously, we are looking for ways to connect to our local community, but the below links give us pause:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TFliLGc0CmA&t=2839s and then, more than that, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wogMuT9cAp4

Is it worth it to join the Chamber of Commerce? Looks like the former leader had a lot to say about how disorganized it was, and then he was gone after a few months. We would love some advice to see if we should join - is it worth the $$?

Lender Recommendations?

I’ve heard that obtaining a home loan from credit unions can help to obtain lower rates than large companies. True or false? If true, who do you recommend?

By Steve Pinkham | Wake Forest Matters Community Contributor Lidl is less than half a mile from my house, but I can't legally ride my bike there. There's an easy fix, and it brings us in line with our neighbors.

After three deadlocked rounds, a nomination motion, and a second 2-2 tie, the mayor who set this entire chain in motion cast the deciding vote — and told both finalists he expects to see one of them sworn in again in December 2027.
