Financial Aid Options?

I have heard there are less financial aid options now than there were when I was in Waldorf School about 30 years ago.

Has anyone got any meaningful financial aid recently?

We have a 2 year old but have lower income so just looking at options …especially in the Austin TX area.

Thank you!

Looking for online resources to learn more fingerplay songs

Hi everyone!

My daughters went through their first septenio in a Waldorf school, and it was such a beautiful time for all of us. They're a bit older now and we've moved on to other educational paths, but I really miss the Waldorf world and I'd love to bring some of it back into our daily life.

Specifically, I'd like to recover some fingerplay songs we used to do and learn new ones. I want to use them with my girls right before they sit down to study — there's good evidence that finger movements promote relaxation and help with focus and concentration before mental work, and I think it would benefit them at any age. Plus, we just miss the warmth and rhythm of those little rituals.

I'm looking for:

  • YouTube channels with good fingerplay demonstrations
  • Websites or blogs that list fingerplays by season or theme
  • Book recommendations (physical or digital)
  • PDFs or printable resources would be amazing too
  • Any collections of fingerplays for older children (not just toddlers)

We love the seasonal and festival fingerplays — those were always special.

Thank you so much in advance! 🙏

Book recommendation

Hi! I’m looking for books recommandation on Waldorf parenting. I’ve read some of the more like theoretical books, but I’m looking for something more practical. I really liked Heaven on Earth by Sharifa Oppenheimer, and I’m looking for something similar.

I’m dying to get into like the day to day philosophy of like why do we cut the paper corners and why you shouldn’t make a doll in front of a child and all of this culture tidbits. Fascinating.

Ideas for "reset" time?

In the fall I'm planning on introducing a small time (like 10 minutes) right after lunch for my pre-k kids to reset; lunch in a lunchroom with 40 other kids is loud and wild and they always come back needing to wind down. I think it would be a good time to practice artistic skills with their hands in their table spots while listening to some calming music.

I'm going to start small with individual play-doughs, beading on pipe cleaners, pasta mosaics, and then towards the end of the year we will do very simple sewing skills like making stitches on a piece of fabric or putting wooden beads on thread, but I'm stuck for what else would be good for this time. Any ideas?

me and my husband made a no screen cooking education subscription for kids

hi! me and my husband were over pulling out the ipad/phone to look up recipes, food history, etc when our kids wanted to make stuff with us… which, with three kids, is quite often haha.

all the pop ups and ads and searching and distractions and then lots of questions about why and how etc…

so we made a monthly subscription that gets delivered to your mailbox with three recipes on super nice card stock, methods, food history & even comic instructions for nonreaders. it’s all hand drawn!

just wanted to share because it’s our mission to support families who do want lower screen time. want to cook together. want to just have a physical item to hold and reference without the fuss :)
