Magic the Gathering - Where?!

Hi folks! I'm trying to stay local and play MTG games, specifically Commander. I've recently gotten really, really into it and I don't get to play it enough.

Is there a spot locally where it is played? Does anyone have a pod around here that needs an extra member?

Help me r/WashingtonHeights, you're my only hope (of not having to go very far outside of the area)!

about; uptown #1 skipping 181 & 191 so you need to downtown from Dyckman

I rarely go near YU, so I was surprised during weekday rush hour the train simply skipped their 2 stops. Can someone here explain how the MTA feels justified doing this? The conductor made some announcement at 168th but even in 2026 their PA system is so useless that nobody can understand what they are saying. the whole situation was very annoying as it made me a half hour late for a meeting that could not be delayed.

does the #1 sometimes skip other stops during rush hour? I have been on trains that suddenly switch from local to express or express to local, but never on one that arbitrarily skips stops. there was no protest or other activity, and i asked others who were similarly inconvenienced and they said it happens pretty regularly and nobody could explain why, only that they have resigned themselves to live with it.

URGENT: Injured, Trapped Pigeon at 168th St Subway Station (Uptown or Downtown 1 Platform)

There is an injured pigeon in need of rescue at the 168th Street Subway Station. It is limping and its feathers are very dark from subway soot, meaning it has likely been trapped down there for a long time. It was last seen on the Uptown 1 train platform, but it has been moving back and forth from the Downtown side. I was able to feed it, but I could not capture it. If any local rescuers are in Washington Heights or passing through 168th St, please help!

Cat with collar found on 184th and Overlook

Basically the title. Was heading out to the subway thru the 181st A train entrance at 184th and Overlook and found a crying gray cat with stripes (possibly a tabi) with a collar on. Tried getting closer to it to read the collar and the cat went into the large open field next to the station. Hoping for the best for this poor cat.

If this issue has affected you in any way and you are open to informally chatting, please feel free to shoot me a DM. Thanks!

Highway Manhole Noise?

For anyone else who might live on Haven Avenue overlooking the highway:

Have you noticed a new noise that sounds like a loose manhole cover? It's really hard for me to figure out where it's coming from so I can put in a 311 complaint. I thought it was coming from the traffic on Riverside Drive near the Psychiatric Institute but I walked nearby and couldn't hear anything so I think it might be coming from the highway or on ramps. Does anyone know how to report this properly? The 311 site is requiring an address and I don't want to put something that's in the residential areas not facing the highway. Thanks!

Charter Bus for NYCFC Fans

As we start thinking about the 2026–2027 NYCFC era in Queens, I wanted to see if there are other fans in Washington Heights interested in transportation to home games.

One of the reasons my son and I became big NYCFC fans was because of Yankee Stadium. Being able to take the train or even walk to matches from Washington Heights made supporting the club feel accessible and connected to our neighborhood.

Now that we want to keep supporting the team in Queens, the trip becomes much harder for fans uptown — especially for those of us without cars or who can’t afford tolls, parking, and gas for every match.

So I wanted to float an idea:

Would there be enough interest in a Washington Heights / Inwood supporters bus or charter for home games?

Nothing fancy — just a pickup uptown, transportation to Queens, and a ride back afterward.

I’m not volunteering to fully organize this myself, but I’d absolutely help as part of a small group if supporters club leaders or organizers were interested.

For context:

•	My son and I live near 185th & Fort Washington

•	181st could work, though it’s busy

•	There’s space around 187th/Fort Washington where ski buses sometimes load

•	I’d gladly walk 10+ blocks if needed

I’d also personally be willing to commit funds ahead of time for a season-long transportation setup if enough people were interested.

Mostly curious:

•	Are there enough uptown NYCFC fans for this?

•	Has anyone already discussed something similar?

•	Would any supporters groups want to help organize it?
