RICH GMT V2 vs V1 — Hands, Crown, and Dial Print Differences Under Macro Shots
I recently got some high-res macro comparison shots of the new RICH GMT V2 vs V1 from my TD (Jun), and thought I’d share some observations after going through them properly.
We’ve all seen the marketing pics, but I’ve always been more interested in what actually changes under magnification rather than surface-level “upgrades”.
After comparing the two side by side, here’s what stood out to me:
The biggest improvement, in my opinion, is the hands. On V1 (pic 2), you can clearly see rough edges and minor burrs under magnification — it just feels unfinished. On V2, they’ve finally added proper beveling. It’s not just cosmetic either; it actually changes how the light interacts with the hands, giving the dial a more refined depth and a cleaner “shine” overall.
The crown logo is another subtle but interesting update. The V1 version always felt slightly chunky to me. On V2, the shape of the crown “fingers” has been refined with a more tapered profile. It’s a small adjustment, but these are exactly the kinds of details that start separating higher-end reps from mid-tier ones.
The dial print also looks noticeably more three-dimensional on V2. The ink has a slightly raised, almost “layered” effect under macro shots, which gives it a bit more visual punch compared to V1.
My takeaway is pretty simple: V2 is definitely the more refined piece, especially if you care about finishing details like hand beveling. That said, V1 is still absolutely solid for daily wear and holds its own without any issue.
I guess the real question is — are these refinements actually meaningful in real-world wear, or are we just zooming in too far chasing details no one will ever notice on wrist?
Personally, I’m leaning toward V2 for my next piece.
Curious what others here think — is hand finishing a deciding factor for you, or do you think this is mostly over-analysis?
