So, why did we need to close Blvd E for three days?

Fireworks were barely visible from there. Not enough people showed up to justify not allowing residents to park (at least on the west side of the street would've been very viable). Legitimately what was the point? For cops to collect big paychecks?

Drift Restaurant and Bar - 🚨 WARNING: FRAUDULENT CHARGES & BIASED SERVICE 🚨

Do not trust this establishment with your credit card. Because of the abysmal service, we explicitly left a $0 tip. The restaurant took it upon themselves to alter the total and charge an unauthorized tip anyway. When called out, they lied and claimed they are "charging 20% extra for FIFA." After I told them we are locals and that makes zero sense, they briefly put me on hold and suddenly backed down, promising a reimbursement. This is blatant financial dishonesty and unethical practice.

We spent $330 before tips for four people, and the experience was problematic from the start. Water was served only once and never refilled. Our first round of drinks arrived quickly but were completely watered down. It took a full hour and two separate reminders to both our server and the greeter just to receive two out of our three appetizers, with the final one requiring yet another reminder and taking an additional 15 minutes. While the appetizers were barely edible, the beet salad was a complete joke for the price.

The blatant bias and selective hospitality from the staff were loud and clear. The server brought a second round of drinks without even taking our order, assuming we wanted a repeat. When two people in our party declined, he simply walked away and distributed them to other tables as free drinks. The neglect felt entirely intentional and discriminatory; he never came to check on or speak with our table even once, yet he spent the entire evening pleasantly chatting with and attending to every single table around us.

To make matters worse, we waited 1.5 hours for our main courses with absolutely no sign of the food or an update. When the entrees finally arrived, they were as pathetic as the service—the vodka rigatoni pasta was incredibly watered down. For this price point, the combination of literal theft, blatant discrimination, and awful quality is completely unacceptable. Avoid this place at all costs.

Events in Weehawken?

Police is apparently looking to lock down most streets… I’m not aware of any events in Weehawken later today, and the fireworks won’t be visible from here…?

Port Imperial Fireworks

Everyone keeps saying that we won’t see the fireworks from Weehawken and Hoboken… is this not the boat that the fireworks come off of? It’s been stationed here since this morning.

Our unit at RiverHouse 11 is opening up early August (10 min to Midtown)

Hey all. We're in a 2BR/2BA at RiverHouse 11 on the Port Imperial waterfront, and we're moving out earlier than planned because we both landed new jobs. Our unit is opening up on August 8, and I wanted to post here first since people in this sub actually know the building.

This isn't a sublet or takeover. You'd sign a normal lease directly through the leasing office at their rate (~$4900/month, lower than market price). I'm just the current tenant trying to help fill it.

What we'll actually miss most:

3 minute walk to ferry and 30 second walk to light rail!

  • In-unit washer/dryer, deep soaking tub, balcony over the pool, pet friendly
  • Rooftop with the full Hudson skyline, pool (and multiple pool tables), hot tub, gym, golf simulator, music/podcast room, movie theater, rock climbing wall, garden, gaming room, reading area, conference rooms
  • The waterfront happy hours are genuinely a good deal
  • The rooftop fire pit and grills.

Link with more pictures:

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1N7lYEpUR946csCZtvdhdG1U0y6TmYvfm

The basics:

  • No broker fee, nominal security deposit

I've lived here a while so happy to give you the honest rundown.

If you're hunting now, shoot me a DM. I can connect you directly with the leasing office. Thank you!

PS. If anyone has any suggestions on where else to post, do let us know!

URGENT: Emergency Foster needed for 14y.o. Eddie after her current foster’s home was damaged in tonight’s storm

We’re urgently looking for an emergency foster (or adopter!) for Eddie, our sweet 14-year-old senior girl, as her current foster family is no longer able to care for her after a tree fell on their home during tonight’s storm.

Eddie came to Purrfect Catpanion via Clifton Animal Shelter, where she landed after losing the only home and family she had ever known. She’s been through a lot of change and instability over the last few months, but despite everything, she remains gentle and affectionate. She enjoys being around people and loves pets and attention.

What Eddie needs most right now is a calm, stable, and loving home where she can feel safe and enjoy the comfort every senior cat deserves.

If you’ve ever considered fostering, this is the moment when you could truly change a life.

If you’re able to foster Eddie or have any questions, please send us a message as soon as possible. Even if you've never fostered before, we'll guide you every step of the way. If you can’t foster, please consider sharing Eddie’s story with your friends, family and community.

The Republic of Korea Navy Ship (ROKS) Munmu the Great (DDH 976)

Anchored on the Hudson just South of the ferry terminal. It was blistering hot down there this morning.

HBLR - 9th Street to Lincoln Harbor

I am a daily commuter on the HBLR between Port Imperial and Jersey City.

Within the past few months, I have started noticing that the Tonnelle Avenue-bound train jolts after it rounds the first curve in the vicinity of the three sewage clarifiers near 16th street. This is not just one train - every train that I have been on throughout these few months has jolted at that exact spot.

The jolting was more subdued in the winter months, but within the past three weeks (the summer heat perhaps also playing a role), the jolting got to the point where the operator knew when to slow the train down to ~10 mph to traverse that spot.

However, even with the reduced speed, the train felt like it was going to jump the tracks. I took a video of that section of the track on my way to work earlier this week, and noticed that the track bulges outward around the 7-second mark of the attached clip. Not dramatically, yet not subtle enough to evade an untrained eye.

I hope something is done soon to straighten that part of the track. I'm not a railroad engineer, thus I'm not qualified to comment on whether this is a potential safety issue. At a minimum, I do feel that it is a passenger comfort issue.

4th of July Traffic

My husband and I are planning to visit family in Brooklyn on the fourth. This is our first year in weehawken so we don’t know what to expect on the traffic front.

Is it going to be impossible to get back in if we plan to come back around 5pm?

Sail250 Tall Ship Parade

Hey, will it be difficult to go to Hamilton Park to see the ships? Do you need to get their very early or get your bag checked? Are you allowed to bring a backpack or a cooler? Thanks, any advice would be appreciated!

Resident Parking Permit

We sent our documents and application for a resident parking permit so we can park on the street. I picked up the permits yesterday and it says visitor? But the permits don’t expire until 2028. Is this normal? Will we still get ticketed if we park in the neighborhood?

Update: Thank you all for the info! I’m going to double check the envelope I received for the resident permit stickers. If I don’t see them I’ll just go back to the office and sort it out in person

Unable to sell furniture on Facebook Marketplace. What other options do I have?

I’m moving out soon and have been trying to sell my furniture on Facebook Marketplace, but I’m barely getting any responses.

I have a mix of furniture, kitchen utensils, and small kitchen appliances that are all in good condition.

Are there any other platforms, local groups, or services you’d recommend for selling these items quickly? I’d prefer to sell rather than donate if possible.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hey folks. I lived in Weehawken in the 80s. We always went to JFK Blvd when I was a kid. Is that still a viable option?

Moving out & seeking advice - Next to Fire Dept

Hello, I live in the building right next to the fire station by 47th and Park (across from Flaming Burritos). Not sure if anyone else has noticed this, but the fire fighter staff basically have the 5-6 parking spots to the North and South of their building completely locked down. Every day they shuffle their cars and sometimes park cars so only 2 fit where 3 should be etc… I am moving out of the building now and there is no where for me to park a car or truck without blocking the fire engines in. I called city hall and the parking authority and they said because of my unique location next to the firehouse they will not issue me “no parking” signs for moving and I have to deal directly with the fire department. Anyone heard of a situation like this and is it unreasonable of me to ask one of the spots is freed up for a short period of time while I move out of my building ?

Thanks

The Altiers apartment -- what's it like? Gym?

Has anyone visited the new Altiers apartment that's technically in West New York? How's the quality of the build, and what's the fitness centre/gym like? For an apartment that seems to boast about premium amenities I find it suspicious that they don't post pictures of their gym.
