The pollitical play over the situation is not being dimished as the council is locking down applications.

The TP group has crowed about replacing banners with the favoritism displayed by the city during the process. A citizen testified how their banner application was not accepted when they followed the rules because exceptions were granted to a Veterans group.

There was bigotry full on display which the council embraced. A lawyer has even warned them of the vulnerability over a discrimination suit.

I was only able to catch a small bit of the testimonies so if someone knows where the full feed then that would be great. The little bit that I did catch they were selecting people to testify based on looks so future sessions if more people changed their appearance, the flow will be disrupted.

Turning Point USA says they want to restore "traditional American values like patriotism, respect for life, liberty, family, and fiscal responsibility."

𝐖𝐞 𝐚𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐞. 𝐅𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬.

But here is what America's families actually look like in 2026 — they are LGBTQ+ parents raising children who are loved. They are grandparents raising grandchildren. They are single parents working two jobs. They are chosen families that showed up when blood didn't. They are immigrants, documented and undocumented, building new lives and contributing to this community every single day.

They are Muslim, Jewish, Buddhist, atheist, and yes, Christian. They are Black, Brown, Indigenous, Asian, and white. They are every color, every faith, every background, every configuration of love and commitment you can imagine.

America's family was never just one thing. It was never just white. It was never just Christian. It was never just documented. And it was never just straight.

Turning Point USA's version of "America's Family Month" has a very specific family in mind, and it is not yours unless you fit a very narrow mold. Pride Month celebrates ALL of America's families, not just the exclusionary version that Turning Point USA is selling.

The City of Wenatchee proclaimed June as LGBTQ+ Pride Month, twice. Then allowed a right-wing political organization to replace our community's Pride banners with "America's Family Month" banners while turning away the local LGBTQ+ organization that applied first.

That is not harmony. That is not family. And that is not Wenatchee.

We are 210 signatures away from demanding a Town Hall at City Hall. Be one of them.
