We said goodbye to this 17yo angel this morning. 💔

Jemma lived to the grand old age of 17. She was from a pedigree line of Crufts winners, so she always felt like a little bit of royalty. She came to us when she was around 7 or 8, after my step‑nana passed away, and we offered her a home. What we never expected was to be gifted another ten incredible years with her.

Just a week ago, we took her to the vet for tests because we knew things weren’t quite right. She’d been living with a heart murmur, and both her liver and kidneys were failing. The vet was almost certain she had Cushing’s, we were in the middle of getting her properly diagnosed and treated but last night everything changed. She went for one of her usual little wanders around the house, nothing out of the ordinary, but shortly after we found her collapsed in a puddle of her own urine. It was heartbreaking. She was limp and unresponsive, and we were desperately trying to find help late on a Sunday night, which felt impossible.

She rallied a little, just enough for us to get her to the vet first thing this morning. After a long conversation and calling the people who loved her, we made the decision no one ever wants to make. She didn’t come home with us.

Jemma, Jem-Jem, Jem-a-lem, the Queen of Cushions! I can’t believe today became the day we had to say our final goodbyes. After seventeen years, it felt like you’d always be by our side. You even outlived one of our tribe.

We knew it was your time to rest, and it brings peace knowing you’re free from pain now. Even with our little love‑hate dynamic, I loved you so much, Jem‑a‑lem. I hope you’re dreaming of endless roast chickens, salmon, and fish and chips. And I hope that just beyond the Rainbow Bridge, Dad is there with Bella, ready to welcome you. 🌈❤️

(Jemma only waited 4 months and 2 days since my Dad passed away in January.)

Lost my baby girl Lilly

Lost my baby girl Lilly to cancer today, she was only 8 years old. She went peacefully at home today in my arms. I’m beyond heart broken. Hug your little fur babies tightly!
