Ukrainian refugee and Toronto comedian hoping for a little support in NYC ❤️
Hey everyone, I’m Oleg Redko, a Ukrainian refugee living in Toronto and trying to build a life doing stand-up comedy.
This Monday, October 12, at 7 PM, I have a chance to perform at Gotham Comedy Club in New York. It means a lot to me, but there’s a catch: it’s a New Talent bringer show, and I need 10 people to come out for me to get on stage.
I don’t know many people in NYC, and honestly, I’m struggling to get those 10 together. It feels a little embarrassing asking strangers for help, but I’d rather ask than miss this opportunity.
Starting over in another country hasn’t been easy. Comedy has given me something to work toward and a way to connect with people. Getting to share that at Gotham would mean so much.
If you’re free Monday evening, I’d be incredibly grateful if you came. Bring a friend if you can. You’d be helping a guy from Toronto get his few minutes on a New York stage — and I promise to spend those minutes trying to make you laugh, not crying 😂
