Hey Liberty fans!

Defector Media's WNBA-themed comedy show is BACK for the 2026 WNBA season! The show is called Ten Minute Quarters, and will feature giveaways, games, and four hilarious comedians (one for each quarter, get it?). The first show will be on May 18th at Littlefield to get everyone warmed up for the beginning of the regular season, and will feature Michael Cruz Kayne (The Late Show), Alison Leiby (Comedy Central), Chanel Ali (MTV), and Dan Yang (HBO). The show is hosted by two local comedians and NY Liberty season ticketholders, Jasper Wang and Nora Jefferies.

This show ran a few times last summer, and it was a great hang - you'll definitely laugh, and you may even walk away with some new Liberty swag and some bragging rights about scoring a sick shot on the stage's mini hoop.

Ticket link here, and Liberty fans get a 10% discount on ticket pre-sales using ticket code LETSGOLIBS.

Let's go Libs, and we'll hope to see you there!

FAMILY FEUD LIVE TONIGHT

Family Feud LIVE is happening at Starr Bar (Brooklyn) at 8 PM, hosted by VJAY.mp3.

We’ve had comics, musicians, and even wrestlers battle it out on stage Family Feud-style, and it always gets gloriously unhinged.

Would love to have y’all either come hang, cheer people on, or JUMP ON A FUTURE SHOW. Great excuse to meet other funny/creative weirdos 🍻

The new MTA app update completely ruined live train tracking. Why do they keep breaking things that worked?

Hey everyone,

I need to vent because the latest MTA app update is actively making me late this week. They completely overhauled the UI, but in the process, they managed to break the live home-screen countdown widgets that actually worked. Now you either get lagging data, or you’re forced to open the full app and click through three different menus just to see if your morning train is split-routing or delayed.

It’s the classic realization that the city would rather push out corporate, over-designed updates than just give commuters zero-lag, raw arrival data.

I got so fed up with trying to navigate their broken layout while running for a platform that I spent the last few weeks building a native, zero-fluff alternative for iOS to pull the city's raw live data feeds directly.

Instead of dealing with their clunky UI, I set up a single, high-utility layer:

  • The Widgets They Took Away: I rebuilt clean, minimal home-screen arrival widgets that actually stream subway and bus countdowns in real-time, zero lag, right at a glance.
  • The Live Disruption Feed: It catches sudden weekend line splits, terminal changes, and bus delays instantly so you can pivot before you even step into the station.
  • The Layered City Map: Since city portals never sync up, I mapped the live transit layers directly over real-time 311 noise complaints, emergency street closures, and active construction zones.

No tracking your data, no corporate fluff. Just clean, dark-mode engineering built by a New Yorker who just wants to get to the platform on time.

Drop your lines below—let me know what transit layers or widget features you want to optimize next!

I started hosting curated NYC meetups and unexpectedly built a real community

I originally started hosting small NYC meetups just to bring interesting people together ,creatives, founders, professionals, artists, people new to the city, etc.
What surprised me most wasn’t the networking part. It was how many people were genuinely looking for deeper conversations and real community offline again.

Over time I started seeing regulars become friends, collaborators, business partners, even dating couples. Some people came alone their first night and now bring others every week. NYC can feel huge and isolating at the same time, so creating spaces where people actually introduce each other and talk beyond surface-level small talk has been unexpectedly meaningful for me too.

Curious if anyone else feels like smaller curated gatherings are becoming more valuable than giant networking events lately?

My husband and I are in our mid 40’s (non-specific age to protect the innocent) and his birthday is coming up. He likes experiences and then wants a steak dinner and we live here so nothing touristy and generic. He’s not super into art or sports so I’m looking more for a bar activity or cooking class, fun walking tour, etc. i’m open to anywhere in NYC and Brooklyn. So far the only idea I’ve come up with is Carreau Club in Brooklyn followed by the King of Meat for dinner. I don’t want to spend a ton of time commuting between places so whatever we do should be close in proximity. Any fun ideas?
