Looking for advice before I move

Hi all, im planning on moving to Whitehorse in the next year, I've worked here in the past and had done lots of research back when I attempted to move right before covid hit in 2019 but I recognized things change and get overlooked so I was hoping for advice on things I should know before I move(unexpected financial stuff unique to whitehorse/yukon), stuff that's common to southern canada that's not up north, etc

Where to watch Canada vs Morocco today?

Is there any pub open this morning showing the match? Prefer not to go to Boston pizza.

Four hours in Whitehorse

Hi I will be passing through Whitehorse on the way up to Dawson and have a four hour layover. Is there anything particular that you would recommend for a few hours?

How’s life in Whitehorse?

Hi everyone, I arrived in Whitehorse a few days ago for a visit. The nature is beautiful and most people are very friendly. However, from my observation there seem to be 2 groups of people living here (of course it’s more nuanced than that, I’m exaggerating a little): those who are really into the nature and those who aren’t.

I drove around the residential area near downtown and also saw some impoverished looking houses.

I guess my question is: how’s life around here? Are most people happy? Is drug/alcohol usage high? What do young people do for fun? Are there many immigrants and if so what brings them here?

Any insights to help me get a better understanding would be highly appreciated.

Ps. Hope this doesn’t come across disrespectful as it’s not intended to be that at all, just curious to get to know the real Whitehorse.

Visiting this weekend from the States

Hi all, I'm visiting from Washington state; I'm on a mission to visit all 13 provinces/territories and the Yukon is #11.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on places to go and things to see. I love history, a good party, some hiking, and seeing what makes a city tick. 38 yo and bi if it makes a difference.
