r/Whittier

Looking for a job during the summer still.
I probably don’t have too much luck considering I haven’t really had much experience besides a volunteer position once. Anybody offering/know of any positions, full time, part time, seasonals that I could look to?
James Becerra 3 months in
Becerra is very fresh in his tenure and of course is barely acclimating to his new role.
But Im getting the impression of radio silence since swearing in, post campaign.
Has he made any impact in this short time, and has he outlined any short term goals for the first year of his tenure?
Prime Time Collectibles
Saw that prime time collectibles in Whittier has hangout days on Sundays and that there is sometimes dnd. Dose anyone have more information. Have experience in dnd 5e, pathfinder 1e and star finder. Haven’t played in a year ad want to again. If there is TTRPGS are there any open spots.

Anyone know what happened to Morning Star Thrift?
It was my favorite thrift store in Whittier but all of the sudden it's closed. I haven't been there in a couple of months probably, but it was a sad surprise. The store was always clean and the staff were very nice.
Masked men filming and antagonizing at Trader Joe’s parking lot
I went to Trader Joe’s today during the one o’clock hour. There were 3 men wearing face coverings, filming people, asking them antagonizing questions, and just generally bringing an uncomfortable energy to the area. Does anyone know who these people are?
There was an altercation between them and a man that they were harassing. The cops were called because the altercation became physical.
I heard that a lady was cussing at them as well.
Thankfully, they didn’t approach me. I have a child, so I was scared they would say something to make my son feel in danger.
neighbor installed high-frequency device
Last year sometime, the neighbor across from us installed one of those high-frequency beeping mechanisms on their front lawn. My boyfriend told me it’s to deter cats. But, it goes off even when I’m on the other side of the street. It’s really annoying, and I doubt it works. I just feel like they should face it in a different direction, or get that one that doesn’t disturb humans.
Is it legal for them? Am I able to call code enforcement? We live in unincorporated Whittier.
Buying in Whittier
Hello everyone, a friend of mine is thinking about buying a home close to the border of Whittier by pio pico park and the 605.
Does anyone know how that area is? Is it safe for a young couple?
Edit: thank you all for your comments! They appreciate the insight
Looking for Whittier Coffee Shop Recommendations
What Coffee Shops with wifi do you recommend near Whittier?
I'm making a listing site at computerincafe.com for coffee shops with wifi to work in, including speed tests, seeing if they have outlets, checking out parking etc. I've been to Local Fixture (pretty good wifi!) and have heard about Favorite Coffee Museum, but are there any others I should make sure to add?

Recently moved to Whittier, looking for friends
Hello everyone,
I’m looking to make new friends. The challenges of moving to a new city, being overworked and living on my own is making life feel odd to say the least :(
Anyways, a bit about me. I’m 30, queer, and friendly. I like animals and plants a lot. I also enjoy exploring random music stations I find online, thrifting, gaming, or watching movies.
I have already tried going to meet up groups but I struggle to socialize comfortably in large crowds. I prefer 1:1 or small group interactions to start.
thanks!
Just moved into uptown Whittier and basically starting over

Window tinting For car
Hello I was wondering if anyone knows of anyone that does window tinting for cars? Preferably someone that does a good job for a reasonable price. The person that did a tint job on a car I just bought did a bad job so im planning to have that removed and start over. In or surrounding areas. I used to have someone that did it for me but he recently left to another state he usually charged me around $275 for all my windows and did a great job
Little Cravings coffee shop
Does anyone know why the new coffee shop Little Cravings is closed? We went two days in a row and saw that it was closed.. it said something to do to a health violation.

Weekend Adult Soccer Leagues?
Are there any semi-competitive adult soccer leagues that play on weekends? It doesn't necessarily have to be in Whittier but just within a reasonable distance(20 mins ish drive) or in the Downey area. I'm a male in my early twenties that has played in high school and Sunday league afterwards. I'm nothing special but looking for something to be a little competitive in. Or is there a better subreddit to post this on?
Has anyone else seen this REKOP guy around?
I’m a Whittier local so I tend to see this guy a lot and wonder if I’m the only one. I see a bunch of their stickers as well.
