On November 22, 2019, 34-year-old Amber Aiaz and her 12-year-old daughter, Melissa Fu, disappeared from Irvine, California. They have not been found.

According to Amber's husband, Cheng Zhang, two strangers came to their apartment that evening. He claimed that one of them used an unknown substance that caused him to lose consciousness. When he woke up, Amber and Melissa were gone.

Zhang did not report their disappearance to police until December 2, more than a week later. He said he had received threatening notes instructing him to clean the apartment and act normally. Investigators found blood evidence in the home, including evidence they believed belonged to Amber.

The investigation initially focused heavily on Zhang. However, in a 2021 report, the Los Angeles Times described how investigators said they could not establish his involvement and had been unable to disprove key parts of his account. He was not charged in connection with their disappearance.

Authorities considered several possibilities, including a kidnapping connected to Amber's past. However, no definitive explanation has been established in the sources cited below.

This case is one of those that seem to have an obvious reason and solution, but at the same time, it doesn't.

Questions that remain:

Dock Thompson Sr. and Doc Thompson Jr. are featured in the “Florida Unsolved Homicides & Missing Persons Playing Cards” on the red Jack of Hearts.

Background:

Thompson Sr. owned and operated a store called, “Thompsons Texaco Station” located in Tallahassee Florida. Thompson Jr. was employed at his father’s store.
Thompson Sr. established a financial relationship with a man by the name Robert Lee Lindsey. Lindsey sought after a capital to help fund his construction business. This is where the story between Thompson Sr. and Lindsey began.
Thompson Sr. evidently advances a private loan of $25,000 to assist Lindsey with his business.
When it came time to pay… there was trouble.

The mystery : February 9th, 1989

When it came time for Lindsey to make payments for his loan debt, there was a major problem, he did not have the money. Lindsey becomes desperate to keep Thompson at bay, he writes multiple $5,000 checks as “good faith” partial repayments. All of these checks bounce immediately due to “non-sufficient funds”.

Thompson soon realized what was happening and that he was not Lindsey’s only fraud victim in town. Thompson decides to apply legal pressures and file formal police complaints. In result, Lindsey was arrested, booked, and charged with grand larceny and check fraud. This would not sit will with Lindsey.

January 9th 1989, Thompson Sr. and Thompson Jr. are going about a normal day at the store when Lindsey arrives. He approaches Thompson Sr. with a whole new promise: “I’ll repay everything, just come with me”. Though Thompson was hesitant, his curiosity of the sudden financial resolution evidently wins. Thompson loads into Lindsey’s van (it’s important to note that it has been reported that Thompson consistently traveled armed and would not enter a situation in which he felt in danger). What happens to Doc Thompson Sr. beyond this point, is a mystery.

Lindsey did not stop there. He returns to the Texaco where Thompson Jr. is still working, but this time, with no passenger. He enters the store and begins to tell Jr. that his father is in a different location trying to finalize a loan repayment. He tells Jr. there is a problem with the payment and he needs to get into the van. Lindsey proclaims Jr.’s signature is needed to complete the transaction. Trusting Lindsey and his word, Jr. follows into the van. Once again.. what happens beyond this point is a mystery.

Lindsey returns to the Texaco later that evening with neither Thompson Sr. or Jr… completely alone. Instead he enters the store and bluntly proclaims to the staff that neither of the men would be returning to work that day. Lindsey fled the area for good.

Once family members noticed neither the father nor son had returned home from work, they notified law enforcement. Police tracked down Lindsey and interrogated him as to where he was after his encounter with the Thompsons. Lindsey’s only defense, “I drove them both to Quincy, Florida and dropped them off on a street corner before driving back to Tallahassee alone”.

Police doubted Lindsey’s explanation was truthful due to never finding a witness that verified seeing any of the three men in Quincy and no record of a $25,000 payment. The investigation went cold after neither of the men were located and remains were never found.
Both men have been missing ever since…

My thoughts:

Knowing Sr. was a business owner and protective over his family and business I don’t believe he would have willingly got out on a random corner. If Sr. always traveled armed, was it a coincidence that he may have not been armed that day leading him to be defenseless? Or, was this entire timeline given by Lindsey a lie?
Lindsey had a prison sentence and his belief was that Sr. played a big role in this. I think that’s the motive no question. Lindsey knew without the victim/s there’s not much to prove your guilt.
I wonder why and at what point Lindsey decided to go back for Jr., what was the reason.
Did the Texaco employees see or hear more than they told police? They say both men went willingly, but there’s no way none of them knew the conflict between the Thompsons and Lindsey. If they were aware of the conflict why did this not raise flags to them?

Circumstances of Disappearance

Last known to be staying at the Youth Center in Copenhagen's northwest quarter. He left the Youth Center on the evening of October 30, 2017. He left his phone and bank card behind, and his social media accounts have not been active since. Despite many reported sightings of Holger, none could be verified. In 2025, a Danish court issued a ruling presuming Holger to be legally dead. His date of death is listed as December 31, 2018, just over a year after his last confirmed sighting.

Circumstances of Disappearance

Geijsbregts was last seen when being dropped off by her parents at the school bus stop in Bertem-Leefdaal, close to Brussels. She never arrived at school. A witness saw her climb into a grey Toyota. She was last seen wearing a long winter coat with light brown fur lining.

A suspect in her disappearance is Michel Stokx, a truckdriver from Belgium, who was jailed in Holland in October 1991 for the murder of three children. He died in prison in 2001, never admitting to involvement in Nathalie's case.

Its a very loud recent case in Poland. Emilia Koprowska is a 37-year-old woman from Koszalin, Poland, who disappeared on 30 August 2026 after attending a techno music festival called Zew Wydm in Darłówko, near Darłowo.
Emilia attended the festival with her husband, Krystian Koprowski. According to him the couple argued over their shared business interests.
The thing is - her husband is not even a suspect by Polish Police, and is definitely acting strange. There are multiple interviews with him and people are confused what to Think about the case.
At the day of her disappearance the couple was spending time dancing at the festival and taking drugs. Then they had an argument around 4pm and he destroyed her car (they came separately) cutting the tire and took out one of her wheels. She was seen walking away crying, telling a witness its because her husband destroyed her car. She sat at the bench as he drove by in his car and threw her her phone (IPhone 17 pro - it will be important later)
Then she was caught on camera walking in the city Center of Darłowo at 7pm. Took a taxi back to her car and took a business card from the taxi driver with the thought to hire him again to drive home as her car was destroyed. At that time her husband was back in their home town meeting with his son, also caught by cameras at mcdonalds. The husband was with constant contact with Emilia by messages. She was seen going in the direction of the Baltic sea and last seen there on camera. Her husband decided to come back looking for her at 10pm. She was texting him at that time that she has to hide her phone. Why? Husband says she was afraid Police is looking for her for some reason. He used to threaten her that he will tell the Police what she has done (drugs I suppose) and her son will be taken away from her. Last phone contact was around 10:30 pm. Her husband supposedly was waiting for her by her car. The las message from her was along the lines of: ,,They will not find me. From the beginning I only wanted you”. Translated from Polish. Husband says he waited for her to 0:30 and came back home. Police Officialy said he is not a suspect in the case.
Her phone was found 10 days later, and police specialists says they cannot unlock her phone as its an IPhone 17 and they cannot get any info from it. Her backpack was found 3 weeks after her disappearance 2 kilometers from the beach with a little cash and car Keys. Her documents were in her husband possesion from the beginning.
Why is this case interesting?

1. Suicide? Emilia was depressed, her Ig reposts says about depression, toxic relationship and disappearance. Her body wasnt found and experts say it should be if she has drown in the sea. A huge area was searched by hundreds of Policemen, volunteers and even youtubers and true crime fans.

2. Husband? They had a really crazy relationship and since her disappearance he acts weidly, making AI songs, giving multiple interviews on YouTube and spending a lot of time fighting people on Facebook group. He also mixes facts and hours a lot. But for some reason Police still treats it all as a disappearance, not a possible crime and he is not a suspect so his alibi should be strong.

3. Her leaving? She had mental Health problems, took drugs and wanted to hide her phone. She had financial problems and was scared she will lose her son. On her Ig she had a repost about disappearance. But she didnt have a lot with her, wasnt prepared.

5. ⁠Third party involved. The beach is near hotels and people walk there with their dogs, the festival was closing up. It was the last weekend of holidays.

6. This case has a lot of different angles and is one of the loudest disappearances we had in Poland.

Several months ago, I posted all the information I had about my great grandfather's disappearance. I filed Freedom of Information Act requests twice and didn't hear anything for a few months. I received the files randomly 2 days ago. I will post most of them here, but some of them are handwritten letters that my great grandmother wrote to the president, asking for his help. I will not be posting those. They add nothing to the search, and are very vulnerable and personal. The gist of them is her explaining the case in the first letter, then following up occasionally asking for help for the next several years. The first 2 were answered with some form of the phrase "We do not have the authority to conduct an active investigation in the absence of a violation of a federal law within our jurisdiction". After that, the responses are "At this time we are searching our files"

The things that stood out to me are:

In one of the handwritten letters, Bessie says "I am sure he was murdered, I just want to know what they did with his body"

The Bishop Glass Bar was run by John Wilkins. I did not know this, and did not find that information anywhere except these files. There is a John Wilkins Boat Dock (bar) currently in Drummonds. It's speculated that the boat dock was a place my grandfather went to occasionally. Did John Wilkins run both of these at the same time? Or was it just the Bishop Glass Bar and people are misremembering?

That's what stood out to me. I've heard from my family that once, a long time ago, my aunt went to the Boat Dock and started asking questions about my great grandfather. Apparently, everyone there acted like they didn't welcome questions. I AM NOT placing blame or suspicion. Just telling what I know and have heard.
