(Sirius) question about Peter and his house
I hope this is the right subreddit to ask this, but what do you think the sorting hat saw in Peter to put him in Gryffindor? We don't see him do anything out of bravery, but fear for Voldemort. However, he is very resourceful, being able to live as a rat for 12 years. He is also very cunning being able to frame Sirius and trick the whole Wizarding population so was it just a hat stall like harry?
First experience at the Harry Potter store in Harajuku
Can't deny how immersive it is
I built a 40-question Sorting Hat Test & need your help to refine it!
I’ve always found that a lot of online Sorting quizzes lean a bit too hard into obvious stereotypes—where choosing "brave" instantly means Gryffindor or choosing "ambitious" automatically sounds evil.
To try something different, I’ve been working on a 40-question life-philosophy Sorting test. The goal is to evaluate people based on how they actually handle real-life dilemmas, moral choices, and personal values.
To make it balanced and subtle, each question has 8 distinct choices reflecting both the virtues (+) and the relatable flaws or vulnerabilities (-) of each House:
Gryffindor:Valour & leadership (+) vs. Impulsiveness & proving oneself (-)Hufflepuff:Loyalty & hard work (+) vs. Over-reliance on comfort & conflict avoidance (-)Ravenclaw:Intellect & curiosity (+) vs. Over-analysing & emotional detachment (-)Slytherin:Strategy & ambition (+) vs. Quiet calculation & self-preservation (-)
EDIT:
- Gryffindor: Bold Valour & Natural Leadership (G+) | Impulsiveness & Need for Ego-validation (G-)
- Hufflepuff: Fierce Loyalty & Principled Hard Work (H+) | Naivety & Conflict Avoidance (H-)
- Ravenclaw: Sharp Curiosity & Boundless Creativity (R+) | Over-analysing & Emotional Detachment (R-)
- Slytherin: Astute Strategy & Calculated Ambition (S+) | Self-preservation & Power Hunger (S-)
Also, trait-neutral options representing general life orientations. These options do not carry a positive or negative sub-trait, but align with the underlying philosophies of specific House pairings:
- Individual [R & S]: Autonomy, self-reliance, and independent execution.
- Social [H & G]: Community cohesion, shared responsibility, and collective wellbeing.
- Freedom [G & R]: Adaptability, open exploration, and non-conformity.
- Structure [H & S]: Order, clear rules, hierarchy, and predictable systems.
- Prudence [R & H]: Risk mitigation, careful deliberation, and safety.
- Recklessness [G & S]: Audacity, high-stakes momentum, and unhesitating risk-taking.
How you can help:
I’m still actively tweaking and refining this project, and who better to help than the actual Harry Potter community?
If you have a few minutes to take it or read through some questions, I’d love your honest feedback:
- Do any options feel too obvious or unfair to a specific House?
- Are the negative options balanced, or do some sound too harsh/unappealing?
I really want to turn this into a fun, accurate, and nuanced tool for the fandom, so any suggestions, rewordings, or critiques are immensely appreciated!
Looking forward to hearing what House you get and what you’d tweak!

I. The Fundamental Concept
1. The Purpose of the Model
The Line-and-Bending model is a theoretical representation designed to visualize the fundamental nature of magic proposed in the wider theory.
The model does not claim that magic literally consists of lines, nor that magical reality physically bends in a conventional spatial sense.
Instead, the line is a conceptual representation of the underlying magical law, while the bending represents a change in its configuration caused by magical interaction.
The model attempts to answer:
«If magic is a fundamental part of reality, how does a magical person interact with it to produce a specific effect?»
The proposed answer is that the person establishes a particular configuration through a combination of magical ability, intention, concentration, emotion, willpower, learned technique, wand use, movement, words, and other relevant factors.
The resulting interaction is represented as a bend in the fundamental magical line.
---
2. Magic as the Fundamental Line
The simplest representation of magic is a straight horizontal line.
The line represents magic itself.
It exists independently of any individual spellcaster.
It does not need to be created when someone casts a spell.
It does not need to be activated.
It simply exists as part of reality.
The wider theory therefore proposes that magic is fundamental in a way analogous to other fundamental laws or properties of reality.
This does not mean that magic is physically identical to gravity or electromagnetism.
Rather, the comparison concerns its proposed fundamentality.
The theory does not require there to be something deeper underneath magic.
Magic may simply be one of the fundamental facts of the universe.
---
3. The Neutral State of Magic
The straight line represents the neutral configuration of the magical law.
This does not mean that magic is absent.
Magic remains present throughout reality.
Rather, the line represents the absence of a particular localized magical configuration.
A person can therefore exist within a magical universe without actively manipulating magic.
When a magical interaction occurs, the configuration changes.
The line is therefore not "turned on."
It is altered.
---
4. Why the Line Is Only a Representation
The line is not intended to be a literal physical structure.
Magic is proposed to be non-physical, so describing it as an actual line would introduce assumptions that the theory does not require.
The line exists because an abstract concept is difficult to visualize without some form of representation.
Likewise, diagrams of gravity or spacetime do not necessarily represent physical objects literally existing as drawings.
The important concept is therefore not the shape of the line.
The important concept is a change in configuration.
---
II. Bending the Line
5. What "Bending" Represents
A magical person does not create magic when casting a spell.
Instead, they interact with the fundamental magical law.
The resulting alteration is represented as bending the line.
The bend therefore represents a change in the configuration of magic associated with the desired effect.
In simplified form:
Fundamental magic → interaction → altered configuration → magical effect
The word "bending" is therefore shorthand for a theoretical process that is currently impossible to describe directly.
---
6. The Magical Interaction
A magical interaction can involve several factors simultaneously.
These may include:
- magical capacity;
- intention;
- concentration;
- emotion;
- willpower;
- wand;
- wand properties;
- wand movement;
- spoken words;
- learned technique;
- the caster's individual magical pattern; and
- the pattern associated with the intended spell.
These factors are not necessarily separate sources of magic.
Instead, they are proposed to be components that help establish a particular configuration.
The wizard therefore does not generate magic from nothing.
The wizard establishes the conditions through which magic can produce the intended effect.
---
7. The Return Toward Neutrality
An ordinary magical configuration does not necessarily remain indefinitely.
Once the conditions responsible for the configuration cease, the system can return toward its neutral state according to the underlying rules of magic.
The visual model represents this as the line returning toward its original position.
This should not be understood as literal elastic movement.
The "return" represents the disappearance of the conditions sustaining the particular magical configuration.
For a temporary spell, this may correspond to the end of its effect.
For a lasting enchantment, the configuration may remain because the magical conditions have been established in a way that allows it to persist.
---
8. Temporary and Persistent Bends
Magical configurations can theoretically differ in persistence.
Temporary configurations
These are configurations that cease relatively quickly once their relevant conditions end.
Persistent configurations
These remain for a much longer period and may continue producing effects after the original casting event.
The difference does not necessarily have to be explained simply by "more magic."
A persistent effect could depend on the structure, stability, depth, or circumstances of the configuration.
This distinction allows the theory to explain why some magic disappears while other magical effects can remain for years, generations, or potentially much longer.
---
9. The Properties of a Bend
A magical configuration should not be treated as having only one property called "strength."
Several properties may matter independently:
Intensity — how powerful the immediate effect is.
Precision — how accurately the intended result is produced.
Complexity — how complicated the magical configuration is.
Persistence — how long the configuration remains.
Stability — how resistant the configuration is to disruption.
This distinction is important.
A highly intense magical effect does not necessarily have to be highly persistent.
Likewise, a relatively subtle magical effect could potentially be extremely persistent.
This prevents the model from reducing all magic to a simple power scale.
---
III. The Factors That Produce a Bend
10. Intention
Intention represents what the caster is attempting to accomplish.
It is therefore one of the conditions involved in establishing a particular magical configuration.
Magic does not need to understand the intention as a conscious entity.
Instead, the caster's intention forms part of the conditions under which the magical interaction occurs.
---
11. Concentration
Concentration allows the caster to maintain a particular configuration.
More complicated magical effects may therefore require greater concentration because more precise or complex conditions have to be established.
Loss of concentration could disrupt the configuration or cause the result to become less precise.
The exact relationship between concentration and magical power remains an area for further investigation.
---
12. Emotion
Emotion can influence magical interaction.
Extremely powerful emotional states may produce magical effects that ordinary conscious spellcasting cannot easily reproduce.
The theory does not require magic itself to understand emotion.
Instead, emotion is treated as a condition belonging to the person interacting with magic.
This provides a possible framework for understanding unusually powerful forms of emotionally driven magic.
---
13. Willpower
Willpower can be understood as the ability to maintain or impose a desired magical configuration despite difficulty or resistance.
Willpower is therefore not necessarily identical to magical potency.
A person could potentially have substantial magical potential but poor control.
Another person could possess excellent control and precision without having the greatest raw magical capacity.
The model therefore distinguishes:
Potency ≠ control ≠ precision ≠ willpower.
---
14. Words and Incantations
Spoken words may form part of the configuration through which magic is manipulated.
The words themselves do not necessarily contain the magic.
Instead, an incantation may represent a learned component of a particular magical pattern.
The spoken phrase can therefore function as one part of a repeatable procedure.
The word alone would not necessarily reproduce the complete magical effect.
The rest of the configuration matters.
---
15. Wand Movement
Wand movements can similarly form part of a casting pattern.
A particular movement may help establish or direct the desired magical configuration.
The movement does not need to physically "draw" magic through the air.
Instead, it can be understood as part of the learned method used to produce a specific interaction.
---
16. Wands as Focusing Interfaces
A wand is a physical interface through which a witch or wizard can channel magic.
It does not necessarily function as a container holding a finite supply of magic.
Instead, its materials and construction may influence how the caster establishes and controls magical configurations.
Different woods, cores, lengths, flexibility, and individual wand properties may therefore contribute to different forms of compatibility.
The wand can consequently be understood as helping the caster:
- focus an interaction;
- stabilize a configuration;
- direct an effect;
- improve precision; and
- establish repeatable magical patterns.
This interpretation is consistent with the wider theory without requiring magic itself to behave like a physical liquid or electrical current.
---
17. The Complete Casting Pattern
A spell can therefore be represented as a combined configuration:
**Individual magical pattern
+ intention
+ concentration
+ emotion
+ willpower
+ wand
+ wand properties
+ movement
+ words
+ learned technique
→ magical configuration
→ effect**
Not every spell necessarily requires every component to the same degree.
Different types of magic may rely on different combinations.
The model therefore allows for multiple forms of magical interaction rather than requiring every spell to operate identically.
---
IV. Patterns and Wavelengths
18. Patterns of Interaction
"Pattern" is one of the central concepts of the theory.
A pattern describes how something interacts with the fundamental magical law.
It does not necessarily represent a physical structure.
People, objects, magical creatures, wands, and spells may therefore possess different patterns of magical interaction.
The pattern determines how effectively something can participate in a particular magical configuration.
---
19. The "Wavelength" Analogy
The term "wavelength" is used as a visualization of differences between magical patterns.
It is not proposed that magic literally consists of measurable waves.
The analogy exists because wavelength provides an intuitive way of imagining differences in patterns and compatibility.
The actual theoretical concept is:
Pattern.
"Wavelength" is simply a way of visualizing how those patterns may differ.
Therefore, the theory does not require magic to obey the physical equations governing electromagnetic waves, sound waves, or other known wave phenomena.
---
20. The Pattern of a Person
A witch or wizard may possess an individual magical pattern.
This pattern could influence how they interact with magic and how particular magical interfaces respond to them.
The exact origin of the pattern is unknown.
It could be:
- innate;
- influenced by magical ancestry;
- influenced by development;
- influenced by magical experience; or
- produced through some combination of these factors.
The theory does not currently choose between these possibilities.
---
21. The Pattern of Objects
Objects may also possess different patterns of magical interaction.
Wands provide the clearest proposed example.
Their wood, core, construction, flexibility, and individual properties could affect how they interact with a particular magical user.
Other magical objects could potentially possess their own distinctive patterns.
---
22. The Pattern of Spells
A spell can also possess a pattern.
Its words, movements, intention, concentration, and other components combine into a particular magical procedure.
The spell therefore represents a repeatable configuration.
This could explain how a spell can remain a possible magical configuration even when individual people no longer remember how to perform it.
The loss occurs in human knowledge, not necessarily in the underlying magical law.
---
23. Compatibility and Alignment
Patterns can theoretically be more or less compatible.
A compatible interaction may allow a stable and precise configuration to form.
An incompatible interaction may produce reduced effectiveness, instability, or failure.
The theory does not currently propose that this works through literal positive and negative charges.
Instead, "alignment" means that the relevant patterns interact in a mutually suitable way.
The precise mechanism remains unknown.
---
V. The Nature of Spells
24. Spells as Configurations
A spell is not the fundamental magic itself.
It is a method for manipulating fundamental magic.
The distinction is:
Magic = fundamental law
Spell = method of interaction
Configuration = resulting magical state
Effect = observable result
This means that a spell does not create a new form of magic.
It provides a pathway through which existing magic can be manipulated.
---
25. Multiple Paths to the Same Effect
The model allows for multiple configurations to produce similar or identical effects.
Different combinations of:
- words;
- movements;
- intention;
- concentration;
- emotion;
- magical materials; and
- techniques
could potentially lead to the same result.
This means that known spells may represent discovered methods rather than every possible method of achieving a particular magical effect.
---
26. Forgotten Spells
A spell can be forgotten without necessarily ceasing to exist as a possible magical configuration.
The spell is lost from human knowledge.
The underlying magical law remains unchanged.
A forgotten spell could therefore theoretically be rediscovered.
This distinction is important because magic itself does not depend on human knowledge.
---
27. Creating New Spells
Creating a new spell would therefore mean discovering or constructing a new stable magical configuration.
The wizard would not be creating magic.
They would be discovering another method of interacting with something that already exists.
This makes magical innovation comparable to discovering a previously unknown property or application of an existing natural law.
---
28. Why the Spell Does Not Create the Magic
The apparent relationship can be misleading.
It may appear that saying an incantation causes magic to appear.
Under this model, the relationship is instead:
The magic already exists.
The caster establishes a particular configuration.
The spell provides a method for producing that configuration.
The spell therefore acts more like a procedure than a substance.
---
VI. Ancient Magic
29. What Ancient Magic Represents
Ancient magic is proposed as a phenomenon in which a magical configuration is unusually deep, powerful, stable, or persistent.
It does not necessarily mean simply "old magic."
The defining characteristic in this model is the possibility that the magical interaction became deeply embedded into reality.
Ancient magic could therefore represent an extreme form of interaction with the fundamental magical law.
---
30. Ancient Magic and the Early Universe
One possible hypothesis is that some ancient magic originated extremely early in the history of the universe.
Under this hypothesis, the early universe may have contained conditions radically different from those existing later.
Magic may have interacted with the developing structure of reality in ways that modern spellcasters cannot reproduce.
Some of the earliest magical configurations could therefore have become deeply embedded into reality.
This is a speculative hypothesis within the theory, not an established fact of Harry Potter canon.
The theory does not require this hypothesis to be correct in order for the Line-and-Bending model itself to function.
---
31. Ancient Magic as a Persistent Configuration
Under this interpretation, ancient magic may represent a configuration that does not rapidly return toward neutrality.
Instead, the configuration remains embedded within reality.
The result could be a magical effect that persists for an exceptionally long time.
The line therefore does not need to be literally "stuck."
The conceptual point is that the conditions sustaining the configuration have become unusually persistent.
---
32. The Difficulty of Producing Deep Configurations
If persistent magical configurations are possible, ordinary spellcasting would not necessarily produce them.
A deeper configuration could require unusual circumstances involving combinations of:
- magical potency;
- extreme concentration;
- intense emotion;
- exceptionally strong intention;
- unusual sacrifice;
- rare magical properties; or
- some factor that the theory has not yet identified.
The model therefore does not assume that stronger emotion automatically creates stronger magic.
Instead, extraordinary circumstances may allow a fundamentally different degree of magical persistence.
---
33. Lily Potter's Protection
Lily Potter's protection of Harry provides a potential case study for the model.
Lily's decision to sacrifice herself while attempting to protect Harry involved an exceptionally powerful combination of intention, emotion, and circumstance.
The Line-and-Bending model proposes that this interaction could have produced an unusually deep magical configuration.
The result was not simply a momentary defensive effect.
The protection remained associated with Harry and continued to produce consequences after Lily's death.
Under this model, this could represent a persistent magical configuration.
The theory does not claim that canon describes this as a "bend."
Rather, the model proposes bending as a possible underlying explanation for how such persistence could occur.
---
34. Ancient Magical Structures
Long-lasting magical properties associated with places such as Hogwarts provide another possible area of investigation.
If magical configurations can persist, then exceptionally powerful magical construction could potentially alter the magical conditions associated with a location.
Under the model, some magical structures could therefore represent persistent configurations rather than merely collections of independent temporary spells.
This remains a theoretical interpretation that must be tested against specific canonical evidence.
---
VII. The Limits of the Line
35. Can the Line Break?
The model currently cannot establish whether the fundamental magical law can actually be broken.
If magic is genuinely fundamental, then breaking it would represent something much more profound than ending a spell.
It would mean fundamentally disrupting the law itself.
There is currently no sufficient evidence to establish that this can happen.
There are therefore several possibilities.
The line may be fundamentally unbreakable.
Alternatively, there may be extreme circumstances capable of disrupting the underlying magical law.
A third possibility is that "breaking magic" is simply an inappropriate conceptual description of whatever would occur at an extreme limit.
At present, the theory does not choose between these possibilities.
---
36. Can the Line Bend in Different Directions?
The standard visualization shows the line bending upward.
This does not imply that magic literally possesses an upward direction.
The direction is purely visual.
The actual theoretical question is whether magic can be manipulated into fundamentally different configurations.
If so, different configurations could potentially correspond to different classes of magical effects.
However, the theory currently has no evidence establishing a universal directional system.
Therefore, different "directions" remain a visualization rather than a confirmed property.
---
37. Multiple Bends
A complex magical phenomenon may potentially involve multiple configurations simultaneously.
The model therefore allows for:
- multiple separate bends;
- interconnected bends;
- repeated bends;
- localized configurations; or
- one complex configuration containing multiple interacting components.
This may become particularly important when examining large-scale magical phenomena.
---
38. Permanent Distortion
The model permits the possibility of extremely long-lasting configurations.
However, "permanent" must be used carefully.
An effect lasting centuries could appear permanent without necessarily being mathematically eternal.
The theory therefore distinguishes between:
Extremely persistent
and
Truly permanent.
At present, the latter has not been established.
---
39. What the Model Cannot Currently Establish
The Line-and-Bending model does not currently establish:
- whether magic can be destroyed;
- whether magic can be permanently damaged;
- whether magic can be reversed;
- whether there is a maximum possible configuration;
- whether multiple configurations can interfere with one another;
- whether a magical configuration can exist indefinitely without an ongoing source;
- whether ancient magic is fundamentally different from ordinary magic;
- whether magic can be scientifically measured; or
- exactly what determines the limits of magical interaction.
These are open theoretical questions rather than conclusions.
---
VIII. Applications and Predictions
40. Hogwarts as a Persistent Magical Configuration
Hogwarts may provide a useful case study for persistent magical configurations.
The castle contains magical properties that have persisted across generations.
The Line-and-Bending model could potentially interpret some of these effects as unusually stable magical configurations associated with the structure itself.
The model does not claim that every magical feature of Hogwarts must originate from one single bend.
Multiple configurations could theoretically interact to produce the overall magical environment.
---
41. Lily's Protection as a Deep Configuration
Lily's protection can be examined as an example of a magical configuration whose consequences outlasted the original magical event.
The theoretical sequence is:
Extreme circumstance
→ intention and emotion
→ magical interaction
→ unusually deep configuration
→ persistent protection
The important claim is not simply that Lily used powerful magic.
It is that the magical event may have created a configuration capable of persisting beyond the moment in which it was established.
---
42. Ghosts and Persistent Magical Imprints
Ghosts could potentially be interpreted within the Line-and-Bending framework as an extreme form of persistent magical configuration.
Under this hypothesis, an individual's thoughts, personality, memories, and emotional characteristics could leave an exceptionally deep magical imprint.
The resulting configuration could continue to express aspects of the individual after physical death.
Magic itself would not need to be conscious.
The persistent configuration would simply continue to exist according to whatever rules govern it.
This is a speculative application of the model and requires comparison with the established rules surrounding ghosts.
---
43. The Potential Scientific Study of Magic
If magic is genuinely fundamental, it raises the possibility that its effects could eventually be studied scientifically.
However, this depends on whether magical interactions produce observable or measurable consequences.
If they do, sufficiently advanced science might theoretically investigate:
- magical interactions;
- magical patterns;
- wand compatibility;
- magical configurations;
- the limits of spellcasting;
- differences between magical and non-magical people; and
- previously unknown magical phenomena.
The eventual result could be a scientific description of magic that exists alongside traditional magical knowledge.
---
44. Muggle Science and the Fundamental Law
The theory therefore produces an important potential prediction.
If magic is fundamental and interacts measurably with ordinary reality, then there is no obvious theoretical reason that Muggle science could never discover evidence of it.
The main obstacles could instead be:
- lack of awareness;
- insufficient technology;
- insufficient observations;
- deliberate concealment;
- or the unusual nature of magical interactions.
Muggle-born scientists could potentially become particularly important in bridging these approaches because they would possess both direct magical experience and access to scientific methods.
In the long term, this could lead to a scientific theory of magic within the Wizarding World.
---
IX. Evaluation of the Model
45. What the Model Explains
The Line-and-Bending model attempts to provide one underlying representation for:
- ordinary spellcasting;
- concentration;
- emotional magic;
- intention;
- wand interaction;
- spell patterns;
- magical compatibility;
- persistent magical effects;
- ancient magic;
- magical structures; and
- potentially other unexplained magical phenomena.
Its central advantage is that these phenomena do not necessarily require completely separate fundamental forces.
They can potentially emerge from different configurations of the same underlying magical law.
---
46. What Remains Speculative
Several elements remain speculative.
These include:
- the existence of distinct magical patterns;
- the exact mechanism behind those patterns;
- the wavelength analogy;
- the precise mechanism of wand compatibility;
- ancient magic originating in the early universe;
- persistent magical configurations;
- ghosts as magical configurations;
- the scientific detectability of magic; and
- the possibility of fundamentally disrupting magic itself.
These should remain explicitly labeled as theoretical proposals.
---
47. Canon vs. Interpretation vs. Theory
The Line-and-Bending model requires a strict distinction between three levels.
Canon
What the Harry Potter material explicitly establishes.
Interpretation
What can reasonably be inferred from established magical phenomena.
Theory
The mechanisms proposed by this model to connect those phenomena.
For example:
Canon: Lily's sacrifice produces powerful protection for Harry.
Interpretation: The protection represents an unusually powerful and persistent magical phenomenon.
Theory: The Line-and-Bending model interprets that persistence as an unusually deep magical configuration.
The distinction is essential.
The model should not present its proposed mechanisms as though they are already established canon.
---
48. Predictions of the Model
A useful theoretical model should produce predictions that can be tested.
If the Line-and-Bending model is correct, we might expect:
Different magical phenomena to share underlying principles despite appearing unrelated.
Some extreme emotional or intentional circumstances to produce unusually powerful magical effects.
Particularly stable configurations to produce longer-lasting effects.
Magical objects to exhibit consistent compatibility patterns.
Different magical procedures to potentially produce equivalent effects.
Magical research to gradually reveal increasingly general principles underlying individual spells.
If magic produces measurable interactions with ordinary reality, advanced Muggle science to eventually detect evidence of it.
New spells to represent new configurations rather than entirely new fundamental magic.
There to be identifiable limits preventing arbitrary manipulation of magic.
More complex or persistent magical effects to require conditions beyond ordinary spellcasting.
These predictions can then be compared against the Wizarding World.
---
49. Open Questions
The model deliberately leaves several questions unanswered.
Can the fundamental magical law be broken?
Can it be permanently altered?
Can multiple magical configurations interact?
Is there a maximum possible magical configuration?
Can a configuration persist without an active caster?
Are ancient magical effects fundamentally different, or simply unusually persistent configurations?
Do magical creatures possess fundamentally different patterns?
Could Muggle science eventually detect magic?
Could magic be mathematically described?
What ultimately limits how far a magical person can manipulate the fundamental law?
These questions are not problems that must immediately be given answers.
They are areas where further research can test the model.
---
X. Conclusion
50. The Central Principle
The Line-and-Bending model can ultimately be reduced to one central concept:
«Magic is a fundamental aspect of reality, and magical action represents the manipulation of that fundamental reality into different configurations.»
The line represents the underlying magical law.
The bend represents interaction with that law.
The pattern represents the structure of that interaction.
The spell represents a method of producing a particular configuration.
The magical effect represents the resulting state.
Ordinary magical interactions may produce temporary configurations that return toward neutrality.
Extraordinarily powerful or unusual interactions may potentially produce configurations that persist for much longer periods.
The model does not claim that magic literally consists of lines, wavelengths, frequencies, or physical distortions.
These are conceptual tools for visualizing an otherwise abstract mechanism.
The fundamental proposal is simpler:
Magic already exists.
A magical person does not create it.
They interact with it.
The method of interaction determines the configuration.
The configuration produces the effect.
And if sufficiently unusual magical interactions can create persistent configurations, then phenomena such as ancient magic, powerful protections, magical structures, and potentially other unexplained phenomena may represent not completely separate categories of magic, but different manifestations of the same fundamental law.
The Line-and-Bending model is therefore not intended to be a literal description of what magic physically looks like.
It is a framework for asking a deeper question:
«If magic is fundamental to reality, what does it mean for a person to interact with it?»
The answer proposed by this model is:
«They do not create magic. They configure it.»
