Hey everyone, I feel like I’m trapped in a massive Mandela Effect right now and I honestly need to know if I’m losing my mind.

I was watching Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone yesterday on Peacock, and it happened again. Every single time I rewatch this movie, I look forward to the part where Harry and Hagrid ride the Gringotts mine cart deep down into the vaults. I vividly remember it being this amazing, fast, winding underground roller-coaster sequence.

But in the version I watched yesterday—and literally every version I've seen over the last few years—it’s just this jarring jump-cut. They step into the cart, it starts moving, and then boom, it immediately cuts to them already standing outside the vault doors. The entire actual ride through the caves is just completely gone.

Before anyone tries to tell me I’m just misremembering, let me rule everything out:

• I have never read the books (so it's not me imagining the text).
• I’ve never played the games.
• I’ve never been to Universal Studios or any theme parks.

I know for a fact I saw an actual moving sequence of them in that cart on a TV screen years ago. I started searching everywhere online today because I felt like a piece of my childhood reality just vanished, and I actually found a Reddit post from someone who remembers the exact same theatrical sequence from when they were a kid. (Of course, everyone in their comments just told them they were crazy or that they were just imagining the books).

But here is the absolute wildest part. I dug up the Harry Potter Fandom Wiki Extended Version breakdown, and look what is listed clear as day in the runtime notes for deleted footage:

"Hagrid and Harry are lead through the tunnels of Gringotts on a wild cart ride with Griphook the Goblin - 0:01:54"

An entire 1 minute and 54 seconds of a fully completed, rendered cinematic roller-coaster sequence is documented to exist on the wiki yet it is nowhere to be found in the actual movie anymore, not even in the Extended Cuts on streaming.

Did anyone else watch a specific cut or TV version of the first movie back in the day that actually kept the ride in? Where did this footage go, and why does it feel like it was completely wiped from existence?

I rewatched all the Harry Potter movies not long ago and it had me thinking...how would you rank all 8 films?

It's really tough to put some over other, but here's my best go at it:

• 8th: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
• 7th: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
• 6th: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
• 5th: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
• 4th: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2
• 3rd: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
• 2rd: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1
• 1st: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

Genuinely curious to see everyone's rankings and hopefully this can serve as sort of a crowdsourcing where the subreddit effectively ranks all 8 films! Everyone's rankings can be used as a points system (a first place ranking gets 8 points towards the film, second place gets 7 points, etc.)

There is currently a best book vote between Harry Potter 1 and The Hobbit. Guess what? The Hobbit is currently losing!! Help me vote for it so that it can surpass Harry Potter.

Though about it... Seemed an interesting idea.
