What's the Point of a Name Necklace?

I have a friend who has a necklace with her name on it, and she wears it whenever we hang out or while she's at work. Personally, I have a slight issue with strangers knowing my name. Some people don't care if others take a quick peek at their necklace, while others do. I can see how it's a great idea if you have a complicated name to pronounce or a unique way of spelling it. Wearing your name can remind people to look at it when they need to say or spell your name correctly.

But for people with more common, easy-to-pronounce names, it can seem a little pointless. What's even the point of wearing a necklace with your own name on it? Wouldn't you rather wear something that's simply cute and fashionable, or maybe a necklace that was passed down from a grandparent or another family member and has sentimental value?

sensitive ears and constant irritation from butterfly backs

my ears have been irritated for years. cheap earrings would turn my lobes red and itchy within a day, and the butterfly backs always ended up poking me at night or getting caught in my hair. i tried going without earrings for months hoping they would heal but as soon as i put anything back in the irritation came straight back. it got to the point where i was scared to wear anything at all.

i switched to solid 14k gold flat backs a couple of months ago and the difference has been huge. they sit flush against my ear so nothing pokes when i sleep on my side and my ears have finally stopped getting red and sore. i have been leaving them in 24/7 for weeks now with zero issues. has anyone else dealt with long-term sensitivity like this? what finally worked for you?

I need advice on what suits me best - silver, yellow gold/ rose gold

I’m trying to figure out what metal for earrings best suit my skin tone. For context, I’m 52 & I think I’m slightly warm-leaning light/ medium neutral/ olive (whether this actually matters or not I don’t know!!) Thanks for any opinions & advice🙏

Pink & White Cat Porcelain Rhinestone Coquette/Cottagecore Beaded Bracelet

A beautiful cat-themed, porcelain bracelet featuring 5 charms - pink and white cat specialty charms, a golden flower, a pink gem surrounded by white frame, and a "handmade with love" charm! I loved how this turned out! What do you think? I'm trying to come up with a name for it, lol. "Flower Fantasy"?

The jewelry box surprise

I was organizing my jewelry recently and realized there were pieces I used to wear constantly that I haven't touched in years.

At the same time, some items I barely noticed before have become regular parts of my rotation.

It made me wonder how much our tastes change over time.

Has anyone rediscovered an old piece and fallen in love with it all over again?

Necklace help!

Hello! I really could use some advice about my necklace. I bought a beautiful broach about 7 years ago and the jewler I took it took turned it into a necklace for me by using the hinge to connect it to the bail. However, they used a pin to connect the bail to the pendent hinge and now the pin is falling out and the pendent is falling off the necklace completely. The stones are garnet and I took it to Jared's and the guy there said they'd need to solder it to keep it in place permanently but they don't want to because garnets can't handle heat very well and they don't want to damage a unique piece that isnt part of their collection. Does anyone have any advice on how I can fix my necklace? I've worn it every day for 7 years and not being able to wear it feels like I'm missing part of my identity.

I need advice from a “millennial” age group for a jewelry gift for my daughter. I do realize that this question should belong in a jewelry group, but I think this is really about today’s fashion.

I am a female in my late 50s and I have a preference for platinum jewelry. My daughter is 34 (single, so no wedding rings). I plan on purchasing a very special (high end) and “milestone type” important piece of jewelry for her, a ring specifically for next year. She is so intelligent that I have no way of asking if she prefers gold colored or silver colored jewelry without her figuring out my scheme. She is a more natural type, very, very little makeup and not very much jewelry. She is so unique and sort of a minimalist. Anyway, I know that she would love to have an exquisite piece of jewelry from me —- but I’m stuck with whether to purchase something that is a yellow gold color or a silver color? It seems to me that as of recently, the younger generations are going back to loving the yellow gold color jewelry, and a lot of fashion and styles that were popular in the 80s. Can I get any advice from any of the young people on what color metal I should choose?

What pieces do you wear every day without taking off?

I’ve been trying to build a small set of jewelry that I can wear daily without worrying about matching outfits too much. Something simple but still meaningful. I’m curious what pieces others here consider their “everyday essentials” and why they chose them.

What jewelry piece do you never leave the house without?

Whether it’s a gold chain, a ring that never comes off, or earrings you forget you’re even wearing — curious what piece has become non-negotiable for you. Mine changes constantly so I love hearing what actually sticks for other people.

Gold or silver which one do you always go back to?

I feel like everyone has a default they just naturally gravitate toward no matter what trends are doing. Are you a gold person or silver person and do you ever mix both or keep it strictly one?
