When should I play Ys origins

I’m trying to play the best version of each ys game in order and just finished chronicles 1 and 2 and k wanted to know what game came out right before origins.

Recomended vita psp versions of Ys

With Sony announcing that they will be closing acess to the store for the ps3 and vita I though I'd use thus as an excuse to try out the series, but with seemingly conflicting reviews about them I thought I'd ask here. The ones available on the psvita and psp store are:

Ys origin

Ys 1 and 2 chronicles

Ts oath of Felghana

Ys seven

Ys 8 Lacrimosa of Dana

As a newbie to the franchise what would you recommend to get?

Finally beat the dang worm [spoilers]

First playthrough, took me like 5 tries. I couldn't figure out the attack pattern the entire time though. I was mostly spamming attacks when I perfect block/parried the thrusting attack, but the timing of it seemed really random. Sometimes it would spit poison, sometimes it would cover the entire vicinity in mud... What a stupid boss. I swear I was about to break my R button by spamming my mana board acceleration.

Loved the game, but hate this

His health bat is literally empty, god I hate this fight

Edit: finally did it thank God, is there a fight this hard and random on Ys2?

[YS VIII] Am I underleveled for Chapter 5 beginning? Nightmare difficulty

Title. If so, where can I grind for now?

I complete every village quest available and try not to skip field enemies, but still present Dana is level 42 and the rest of the party is far behind.

Slowly working on my physical Ys collection. I’ve really become smitten with these games in the last few years especially the Ark engine games.

Already played Oath on my Vita and still need to check out Ys Seven but playing through Ark for the first time ever and loving it. I love the anime art style and how much it oozes charm. I still need to check out Origin/IX/X/Seven and want to get physical copies of Celceta on Switch!

Finished Ys IX on Nightmare and I think it’s on par with VIII

Just finished Ys IX as my second Ys game after having finished VIII. So many people talk about it being a step back from VIII but I think it’s about equal to that game.

For everything VIII does better than IX (music is much better, the way you unlock new areas is much better, environment design is better, story pacing is better, Dana and her past sections are the best part of either game), IX does something better than VIII(exploring itself is better due to Gift powers, combat is slightly better, bosses are better, dungeon design is an improvement with pretty neat hidden secrets and obstacle design, main party is better not counting Dana, Dandelion members are better characters than castaways, quests are much better, Grimwald Nox are less annoying than raids, ending and epilogue IMO is much better).

I undestand why people like VIII more but as I played IX more and more it got better and better with a pretty satisfying ending, I sadly can’t say the same about VIII’s ending but apparently I’m in the minority here.

Heck this game has a lot of throwbacks to the other games, even I can tell that despite it being my second Ys game, so I might have actually liked it more than VIII if I played IX after playing the other games first.

I think if the music was better and the environments looked less “bland” people would have liked Monstrum Nox more.

my first Ys game (Ys Seven)

found this masterpiece few days ago on my husband's old PSP, never heard of it but so glad to finally be able to know it. the intro is the one that caught my attention, the gameplay is also interesting. didn't think I would be this addicted to the game anymore since I've been feeling meh playing games lately.

I just beat Ghilda Ros... that was so annoying but felt rewarding to be able to beat him without asking for my husband's help LOL

I had so much fun. probably will also buy other series on Steam, which one do you recommend aside from VIII? thank you in advance.

What are the chances of remake of the first 2 YS games?

Those are more in need of a remake than Trails in the Sky. It would be cool to see remade to be closer to the more modem games.

Is Hummel's Burst Shot in Ys 8 bugged on PC, or just really weak?

First time ever playing Ys 8; Burst Shot seems really weak, even for a basic skill (deals less damage than a basic attack).

Is this some kinda bug? I've heard some talk of skills not working correctly on the most recent version of the game, but I also heard those issues are solved by capping the fos at 60, which I've done.

Starting V for the PS2

This is the only game i havent played yet (story wise, I still need to play III and IV originals). I hear its not great, but still at least okay. Is the newly translated PS2 version the way to go? I feel like i cant not play it at this point, just wandering if this is the optimal way to play it.

I'm not the best at Math, but I'm struggling to see the advantages of a lot of the better skills.(Ys X)

Just spamming the Mana Shot for 10 SP sounds better than the Flame Shot and Flame Burst, unless the burn damage is really that good.

Ys series sale

Hey, so as someone new to Ys games, I am unsure where to start. Me and a friend were talking about JRPG's (specifically the Tales of series) and figuring out what to get during the Steam Summer Sale, and I asked about Ys series, and she said she doesn't know much about it and I am planning to buy 1 title from it to start with but I have no idea where to start.

I sadly can't go for very pixelated titles as it can make me very sick from looking at the screen, but I also have no clue what is on PC other then Ys Dana, Nordics and Monstrum. Where should I start in the Ys series?

Ys 8 - What am I missing?

Can someone help me figure out what I’m missing? I’ve scoured the internet but can’t seem to find a list or picture of what “???” could be. I fear I may have permanently missed it. I just reached chapter 6.
