Wyze and the great Obfuscation AKA The Recall

Good day Yun, Dave, Lin, et al.:

Sorry to intrude, but I will be relatively brief:

I have (or had) @ least 15 Wyze products (all versions of cameras, vacuum cleaners, bathroom scale…). I bought the solar cam in January 2026. It worked well until it didn’t. Wyze disabled all the solar cams and then began the recall because some mis-guided individuals used the wrong screws to install the solar panel. I had no issues. I hadn’t used the solar panel @ the time of the recall.

I have done everything right and followed all the crazy machinations, but I am now on email #7 with each iteration of email being answered by a different “Wyze Wizard.” I have heard from Dearly, Ricky, John, Mysal, Josan… It’s pretty obvious that Management instructed the “Wizards” to obfuscate the process. I have given the MAC address multiple times, my email address multiple times, where I bought the Solar Cam multiple times (Wyze). Yet, the questions/issues keep coming. I have filled out forms and promised to be good. The questions/issues keep coming.

I did nothing wrong. Please facilitate a refund.

You need no other information from me other than my email address to trace the exchange between me and “Wyze Wizard(s).” But, Order #: US-9208244, purchase date January 6,2026@ 10:29 pm EST.

My email address is: redacted,

Kevin Hyland

Wyze Cam v3 on HomeKit

I just noticed I can turn on RTSP on my V3 cams

I set them up on home assistant (HASS) and then add the Homekit integration to port them to my apple home, now I can see them on my iPhone and apple TV

For now only my Wyze Pan V3 works
But im hopefully the rest of my cams get a new update soon

This are the cams I have that DON'T work for now
- Wyze Cam V3 pro
- Wyze Cam V4
- Wyze Duo Cam Doorbell

RTSP stopped working on Wyze Cam v3 (firmware 4.36.16.7064)

I've had the official Wyze RTSP firmware running on a Cam v3 for a while, feeding into Frigate/ffmpeg — worked fine initially. After updating a few firmwars ago, RTSP has completely stopped responding.

Symptoms:
- Camera is reachable on the network (ping works, TCP port 554 accepts the connection).
- Any RTSP client (ffmpeg, tested with -rtsp_transport tcp) connects at the TCP level ("Successfully connected") but the RTSP handshake itself fails immediately — Invalid data found when processing input. Even at ffmpeg's most verbose debug logging, no RTSP reply is ever logged, meaning the server isn't sending back anything ffmpeg recognizes as a valid RTSP response.
- Same failure on both the standard /stream0 path and other paths tried.
- RTSP is confirmed enabled in the camera's local settings, credentials unchanged from when it was working.

What I've ruled out:
- Not a credentials/auth issue — the failure happens before any auth challenge would occur.
- Not a network/firewall issue on my end — TCP connects fine, and other devices on the same subnet/VLAN work as expected.

Has anyone else seen RTSP break after the initial release of the RTSP feature, specifically? Trying to figure out if this is a known regression in recent firmware builds before I roll back or file a support ticket.

Any workarounds appreciated.

Can’t reset

So just bought Mom the battery video doorbell model MR – BVD and everything was working fine and then I accidentally deleted the camera off of the app and I looked it up and it said to press the set up button and I pressed it for 5 to 10 seconds and it went off and then it came back on and now it is continuing to flash on red and the device won’t connect to the app. What do I do?

Only had for a week

I have the v4 as a pet cam. I checked the recordings from last night and it’s jumping like every 2 seconds instead of being smooth. Last night is the first night it did this. I restarted the camera from the app but that didn’t help. What can I do to fix it?

EDIT:
I just went back and looked at videos I know were fine when I watched them a few days ago, and now those are skipping every 2 seconds so I’m guessing an app or cloud issue?

Hello everyone,

I just bought a new Wyze cam v4 and set it up. However, I have a question.. for the highest resolution.. do I want what says 2.5 or HD? Kinda confusing to me when I google it. TYIA

A ghost taking a late night stroll caught on the Wyze camera

I mean, come on. This has got to be the clearest evidence to date.

What the hell, Wyze?

This is the third time this weekend/week, and it's only Monday! I've confirmed it's not my network, everything else is connected to the internet just fine...

EDIT: 4 hours later, and everything is back online, but now I have a new problem. Seems this outage somehow bricked the MicroSD cards in 2 of my 3 Wyze Pan V3 cams? Ironically, I just replaced the card in my tower cam a month ago, right before leaving for vacation, and it is now toast. That, or the cameras themselves are no longer recognizing the cards. MicroSD cards are Wyze branded 128GB. I have one extra, so I'll swap it with the one that's easy to reach and see what happens.

Has anyone else’s robot vacuum struggled to stay charging at night?

It will finish cleaning, go back to the base station, start charging, but the next morning I find it dead a millimeter away from the charger. A little push with my foot is enough to get it charging again. I’ve tried dusting off the contacts on the charger and the vacuum, that didn’t seem to do anything.

This has happened about every few days for the last few months, I got it new in box about 1.5y ago. I swear at some point I heard the motors move it slightly off the charger late at night but I’m probably imagining things.

Anyone else experience anything like this?
