80s YOF arrived by private vehicle to emergency department for mild confusion.

Family reportedly tried to talk husband out of taking her due to having a diagnosis of dementia, but husband insisted something was “different.” Patient is not anticoagulated, but platelet count is 22,000 due to chemotherapy. Intubated at standalone ED due to concern for herniation. Patient began posturing upon arrival to tertiary care center and was compassionately extubated.

My mandible x-rays for determining if I could have an MRI

I needed to have an MRI of my lumbar spine for back pain.

In 1989, I had a mandibular resection and osteotomy, with removal of the growth plate on the right side of my mandible. I was 24 at this surgery, but my care for fixing my jaw started with a palate expander when I was 8. They had wanted to place it earlier, but my 6 year molars weren't in until I was nearing 9yo.

At 11, the palate expander was removed and I had my wisdom teeth removed. That was less than fun. I missed an entire week of school.

At 14, had my first jaw surgery, a resection and osteotomy. The epiphyses in my hands were nearly closed, and I was having trouble chewing. I was also born with delta bones in both thumbs, and I had those repaired when I was 5yo. They knew I'd probably grow a bit more, but...my right mandible kept growing, I was having trouble chewing again and having terrible headaches.

At 19, I had a tonsillectomy in preparation for the jaw surgery, because of course, my tonsils were enlarged and I had developed a tongue thrust. The next resection and osteotomy would reduce the volume in my oral cavity, so they pulled the tonsils. I also had a partial turbinectomy at the same time as the tonsillectomy. I don't recommend oral and nasal surgery to be done together, but I was in nursing school and had limited time. This was done around my 19th birthday in July, 1984.

December 1984, Winter break, I had the second mandibular surgery. This one was easier due to advances in perioperative techniques. In January I was back in class. I thought I was done with mandible repairs.

By 22, I was noticing a decided imbalance in my mandible, headaches, trouble chewing, and when I was 24, in Dec 1989, I had the final repair. I had a PET scan prior to surgery because really, by 24, I shouldn't still be growing! The only uptake was in my right mandibular growth plate.

I was told that the hardware was titanium. I had a root canal when I was around 36 because the oral surgeon had placed a screw right through the root of one of my teeth. When the dentist (endodontist) got down there, he found stainless steel instead of titanium.

That's why I had these x-rays, to find out if I would be safe to have the MRI on my back!

I thought y'all might like to see my crazy jaw.

Repost: 2016 X-rays vs. current photos (Kyphosis & Scoliosis) — had to remove the original due to personal info in the images

This is a repost because I had to remove my original post after u/dogdoc57 pointed out that my personal information was visible on the X-ray images. I’ve since cropped them and am posting them again.
The X-rays are from 2016, and the other photos are recent. I have kyphosis and scoliosis, and I’m curious to hear what others think about how my posture may have changed over the years.
I know no one here can diagnose me, and I’m not looking for a diagnosis—just general observations or experiences from people who have dealt with something similar.
I have an appointment with a back/spine specialist on July 15, so I’ll be getting a professional evaluation soon. Thanks in advance for taking the time to look, and thanks again to u/dogdoc57 for pointing out the personal information in my original post!

Looking for opinions: 2016 X-rays vs. how my back looks today (Kyphosis & Scoliosis) – seeing a spine specialist July 15

Hi everyone! I wanted to share my X-rays from 2016 along with some current photos of my back and posture. I’ve been diagnosed with kyphosis and scoliosis, and I’m curious to hear what others think about how it may have changed over the years.
I know no one here can diagnose me, but I’d appreciate any observations or if anyone has had a similar experience. I have an appointment with a spine specialist on July 15, so I’m hoping to get a professional evaluation soon.
Thanks in advance for any insights or advice!

Cat xray

Cat xray

A short section of wire is inside; it doesn't affect anything.

More xray porn :)

I hope you like the technical content ;-)
All shots at 70 kVp 7mA and roughly 300 ms exposure.
1: Gigabyte Notebook
2: A Sony TC-D5M compact cassette recorder (powered by two fake chinesium D cells :) )
3: two different power banks and a Lattepanda USB-C power supply
4: ESP32 wroom and a HP spectrum analyzer LO distribution amplifier (LODA)
5: a weird firewire MOTU video grabber mixer thing which is reluctant to get opened
6: Tektronix scope frontend at roughly 1.25 optical magnification
Definitely need to do proper flat field correction to get rid of the banding which is exaggerated by the HDR filtering... still a bit to tweak in software...

Happy xray'ing!

First light

Just got an old DR panel working and had the chance to field test it, I'm stunned by the image quality (although some cheating, Richardson-Lucy deconvolution just pushed the resolution to the next level!) It's a Trixell 3543EZ, 16 bit 2880x2400 pixel with a hmmm lets say not so original firmware so I can download the images via a web server running on it.
Happy xray'ing!

1 : PCB from an APC USV, 70 kVp, 7 mA, 100 ms
2: Nokia N900, 70 kVp, 7 mA, 100 ms, would have needed more power
3: chinesium D cell which is way too light and capacity was inferior, now we know why :)
