Switching from iPhone to xiomi?

Hi i currently have an iPhone 17 pro max but i really liked the xiomi 17 pro max (im not getting that bcs it ain’t global) so ive been thinking about getting the xiomi 18 pro max IF it comes out globally,im currently “renting” this phone with the iPhone upgrade program so it’s basically not mine.

Ive been an iPhone user ever since iPhone 11 came out, ive been looking at hyperOS 4 videos and it looks a lot like IOS 26 so I think it’d be a smooth transition.

What would be better?
Should I even make the switch?
I’m also into gaming and tbh this phone can’t do much, barely any emulators

Should I just pay off this phone and keep it or should I wait for the xiomi 18 pro max to come out and maybe switch.

I’m from USA

Please help me choosing between this phones and experience using them

My main concern is : 1. Good camera, sometimes like doing astrophotography casually but looking for nice selfie bcs I want to take nice photo for my family. 2. chipset wise that can stand for future 5 years. I dont look for absolute gaming performance but better chipset is better to withstand future demand. 3. Battery at minimum 5000, more is better. 4.Cleaner OS minimum bloatware/ads but even if they had them I can disabled it all permanently. 5.Good tools for editing like AI tools for remove object etc

my current phone is poco x3 nfc so I want better performance and this time as I said before better camera bcs poco camera's is... well. My sibling had Poco F7 12/516 and the camera doesn't feel nice enough. Other sibling had samsung A55 camera wise still not nice enough and both of them AI photo edit wise is still not great.

My candidates based on budget, all of them 8/256 I also attach budget wise variant.

  1. Oppo Reno 15 or 16 F (Look nice for selfie and camera is great but chipset wise kind of deterring for years of usage)

  2. Iqoo 15R, or Neo 10 and Z11 due to budget wise (chipset is great, but camera I'm not sure. Might drop them if the camera and AI tools quality is same as Poco F7)

  3. Vivoo V70, or V79 FE preferable due to budget wise (Seems all rounder?I 'm not sure)

  4. Realme 16 Pro (Haven't try this on so I only out this here base on price wise)

  5. Xiaomi 17T or 15T (Curious.Os might bloated as heck but I'm okay for a bit work to debloat)

Can anyone here kindly told their experience using these phones? I would like to hear it. I might buy in another 2-5 months. Phone prices is crazy right now.

Xiaomi 17 Ultra Review: Why I Ditched the Samsung Ultra

I’ve been on the Samsung Galaxy Ultra bandwagon for quite a long time, starting right back in the S20 Ultra series days. I have always loved the Ultra line, but as time passed, I began taking photography more seriously. For a moment, I was contemplating dropping hundreds of pounds on a proper dedicated camera setup along with a photography kit.

Then the Xiaomi 17 Ultra came along, and for me, it offered effectively two devices in one.

I was due to upgrade my phone at the time anyway, so the 17 Ultra provided me with the upgrade I desired for my personal device while also bringing onboard an on-device camera that was so capable I no longer felt the need for another gadget. I personally snagged mine for about £800 in the UK, which I would consider a tremendous bargain for what you get. The camera on the 17 Ultra simply blew me away. While the 1-inch main sensor is undoubtedly excellent, it’s the 200MP telephoto lens that steals the show.

The sheer level of detail that can be achieved with it is remarkable, particularly in the 75mm to 100mm optical zoom range.

It’s one of those key details that many of the YouTube reviews omit – to get that true professional aesthetic with added colour pop and contrast, you’ll almost definitely have to go into Pro mode, capture in RAW format, and then process the image yourself. That is where you will truly unlock the 17 Ultra’s potential as a photography tool. My only genuine dislike for the 17 Ultra’s camera lies in the 200mm and 400mm modes.

The AI enhancement here can often be overly obvious and feel more like digital reconstruction of detail rather than natural capture. I would much rather have a natural-looking photograph that I have the freedom to enhance as I see fit. However, what ultimately sold me and made me take the plunge was stumbling upon a YouTube video in which someone compared a photograph taken with the Xiaomi 17 Ultra side-by-side with a shot taken with a Sony A7V camera.

The result was an almost indistinguishable snapshot that genuinely surprised me.

Needless to say, a dedicated Sony camera system still offers superior versatility and control, but it is astounding that a phone can come this close. Xiaomi 17 Ultra vs. Galaxy Ultra this is ultimately where Samsung lost me. I've spent years with the Galaxy Ultra series of devices, but Xiaomi has really taken a significant step forward regarding camera performance.

Samsung phones still take fantastic photos, butXiaomi has pushed the hardware, and the entire photography experience, considerably further.

For my preferences, the only device that currently outclasses the 17 Ultra in pure camera performance is the Oppo Find X9 Ultra (and even then, the difference is mainly in sharpness). Furthermore, the 17 Ultra is also an absolute beast when it comes to gaming, so I have both flagship performance and arguably the best smartphone camera I’ve ever used. For me, that’s the ultimate win.

I was on the fence about whether to buy a new phone and a separate dedicated camera, but the Xiaomi 17 Ultra provided the answer for both my needs in a single package. Unless Samsung dramatically revamps its camera hardware, I don’t see myself returning to the Galaxy Ultra lineup any time soon.

Does your keyboard vibration still work after latest update ?

Phone: Xiaomi 17 EU

After updating to the latest HyperOS version for EU, I noticed that the keyboard vibration with GBoard was not working anymore.

It worked only with Haptic FeedBack ON, but that also turned on every other haptic like Back or Home or even receiving a message from ChatGPT.

I went through the logs with ADB, it showed that keyboard_vibration is 0 (aka OFF), setting it as 1 does not also turn on the IEM that controls the vibration and in the GBoard app it also shows that it is disabled.

Before updating, the vibration worked with Haptic FeedBack OFF, but now it doesnt. Only by setting it ON, it also turns on the other vibration features.

Anyone has a workaround or knows about a similar issue ?

Will this feature come in a future update ?

I have submited a Bug in the FeedBack app but nothing.

Awful facebook icon in recent apps

I sold my Redmi Note 8 Pro in 2020 because of this ugly way fb icon looks in recent apps. Now it's 2026, I'm using Xiaomi 17 and it's still the same awful, ugly and annoying shit. wtf is that, i can't stand it, it's pain to my eyes that it's the only app icon which looks different. This is making me mad... and nothing can fix it, absolutely nothing... I expected this is fixed after 6 years...

Selling iPhone 16 to switch to Xiaomi 17?

I bought an iPhone 16 1 year ago and wanted to keep it for as long as possible but there is one big issue, which is battery life. I only get around 3-4 hours screen on time a day with a fully charged battery. I tried everything but nothing helped. I’m happy with camera quality and easibility of use but I can’t continue with a battery that bad. If I sell it now, I can get around 650€ (bought it for roughly 800€) and buy a Xiaomi 17 for 780€. Is it a big step forward or will I get disappointed with battery life again? I know the screen is better, but not sure about camera and especially video quality. But if it can get me through the day with maybe 6 hours screen on time and still some battery left, I would already be happy. Let me know your recommendations.

Xiaomi 17 keyboard not appearing

So maybe twice a day, when I press the area to bring up the keyboard, (for anything that should bring up the keyboard) some times it doesn't work, so I have to reboot the phone, which can be pretty annoying. This is happening daily, is anyone experiencing the same?

Looking for Xiaomi 17

I'm planning to get Xiaomi 17, Need your input guys. How's the device in terms of monthly security updates and bloatware. I'm currently using X300 and not happy with their delayed updates and the UI is not up to the mark. How good is X17 in this regard?

Brand New 17 Ultra took a bad fall 😭

My phone, encased in the basic photography kit case, fell screen-down from my pocket onto the road while I was riding my bike. Fortunately, the screen remained intact, though the rim surrounding it sustained some impact damage. It is disappointing that the official case offered no protective front lip. I have since inspected the device for any damage, and thus far, all functionalities, including the camera, appear to be working correctly. However, I have noticed a rattling sound when shaking the device. I am aware that the camera module typically produces some noise when shaken, but in this instance, there are two distinct sounds: a heavier, more palpable sound within the phone, and a separate, smaller rattle. I would appreciate it if other owners of this device could confirm whether they experience similar sounds. This would greatly alleviate my concerns that no further damage occurred, especially as the device was only two days old when the incident happened.

Xiaomi 17 Battery Health dropped to 99% after 102 cycles (4 months) Is this normal?

Hey everyone,

I bought my Xiaomi 17 (12+512GB Indian variant) back in April. Today I checked the battery protection stats, and the health just dropped to 99% after exactly 102 charging cycles (around 4 months of daily usage).

For context, I have the "Intelligent charging" feature turned on and generally take good care of the battery.

Is a 1% drop right around the 100-cycle mark normal for this device/HyperOS? How is the battery health holding up for other Xiaomi 17 users here?

Let me know your cycle counts!

Hi everyone, Just got my Xiaomi 17 and I was wondering if the graphics of the quick answer from notifications are supposed to look like this or something's glitched on my unit and I should reset.

Xiaomi 17 Low Bluetooth volume

I have the Xiaomi 17 since the start of may and I have experience a really big problem which I cannot find a solution at.

Since I bought the phone the volume on the Bluetooth output is really low, like really low. I had experience the same thing with my Poco X5 Pro but I solved it as soon as I changed region because I'm located in Europe and I know there's a restriction in the Bluetooth volume for safety of your ears.

The thing is that the volume is pretty low and I cannot even listen it in the car.

For example my car used to play around 35 to 40% of volume (the max is 60) and now I have to bless it up to 50 for the speakers to work as they used to with my previous phone.

I have tried doing everything that I can and I have seen online.

I even went on developer options and said some settings to AAC mode on some devices.

The thing is that I cannot get a hold of the preferred volume and it's really frustrating.

I have a Xiaomi outdoor Speaker of 20w which as soon as I connect my laptop on it it works as a term as it used to work and when I connect the phone on it the volume it's nearly loud.

Has anybody experienced something like that and can help me fix that?

I would really value your opinion if you have any information and you can provide some help.

Thank you in advance Reddit!

Xiaomi 17T owners — what are the REAL problems after using it daily?

I'm considering buying the Xiaomi 17T and I want honest feedback from actual owners, not YouTube reviews.

I'm planning to keep the phone for 4+ years, so I'm especially interested in long-term reliability.

Camera:

Are colors consistent between shots?

Any oversaturation or weird skin tones?

How is night photography?

Does the camera preview lag/stutter?

Is switching between lenses smooth?

Video:

Is stabilization actually smooth when slowly panning left/right?

Any micro-jitter, frame skipping, or "stepping" during movement?

How is 4K video?

Software:

Any HyperOS lag, bugs, notification delays, RAM management issues or ads?

Does HyperOS still feel smooth after months of use?

Thermals & battery:

Does it get hot during normal use, camera, 5G or gaming?

What's your real SOT?

How is battery drain after updates?

Xiaomi 17 or Xiaomi 17T Pro?

Help me out on which one to choose!

I really like compact phones, but in my country the Xiaomi 17T Pro price is cheaper. I heard a lot of overheating issues with the Xiaomi 17, if it means spending more = more stress and risk, I will definitely avoid it. But I still am in doubt on which one to choose.

I don't game heavily, I'm just a casual user.

If you're a Xiaomi 17 user and you adored it, then help me not to be scared buying one, if it's the other way around, warn your brother out.
