The opening and ending, incredible. And everything else in between is really good. I might find myself listening to it on my own when I’m out. Which songs are your favorites?

Anyway I think it’s safe to say I can be part of the fandom now that I’ve caught up on the anime.

I first saw Yuri on Ice a few years ago and watched it in japanese. I usually prefer watching sub anime vs dub, mostly to get japanese listening practice. The first time I saw this series I loved it and rewatched countless times, even bought the dvd set. When the 10th anniversary marathon stream started, at first I was a little disappointed that it was in english as it was not the voices I knew. I almost watched my DVDs again, but decided to give the english version a chance. It only took like one episode before I somehow fell in love with the series all over again. It was like watching it for the first time, same story yet different in a way. The english voice cast is so good and they add so much to the story with their portrayals! I think they did an amazing job and just had to say it. I've watched the 10th anniversary stream over again so many times this last month, planning to watch it every day this week until it is gone. Also bought the blu ray set for after that. Did any one else have an experience like this?

As a new mod of this sub I wanted to make sure im actually interacting with the community, so I ended up thinking of this question!

Personally Victor x Yuuri is my all time favorite ship and dynamic in the show, but that feels to obvious to be my only answer I write here (As they are the two MC's). This post may get long as I am the type to ramble, so feel free to skip over the following section and just give your answer.

Now onto my own opinions on some dynamics I love... Made conveniently into a list with (fairly short) reasonings:

Yuri. P and Yuuko

At the start of the show we see Yurio be rather hostile with Yuuko, but even though they just met she shows her care for him and they develop a sweet bond. We see her chasing after him once the hot springs match is over, and we even get to watch her cheer him on throughout the series. Overall its a rather wholesome bond.

Otabek and Yuri. P

Getting sneak peaks into how their friendship came to be and seeing how they support each other in their own ways (with much subtler gestures than emotional people like Yuuri) was fun, and learning how they met before even if Yurio forgot was nice too, it gave some insight into Otabeks character and how he came to be the skater he is today.

Minami and Yuri

Oh man I love their dynamic even if their episodes together were short, we got to see how much Minami idolized Yuri (much like Yuri did Victor) and how Yuri initially tried to be cold and ignore his fan. These twos interactions played a huge part in Yuri's character development when Minami gave his little speech about Yuri not talking bad about himself. With that new insight from both Victor and Minami, Yuri eventually did acknowledge Minami and wish him luck- which we get to see how it affected Minami and his anxiety.

Personally, watching this tiny journey is something I always love because it reminds me of Yuri and Victors progress too, it almost felt like Yuri didnt want to be the "untouchable idol" he always viewed Victor as until recent, instead he actually interacted with Minami and made him happy. (Much like Victor started to show Yuri how hes just a human too and not some god)

Christophe and Victor

While I dont have many specifics to give about this, in general I just love their dynamic. Victor is Chris' motivation in the competition (until later in the show) and their overall bond is sweet. Both of them rather unbothered and flirty, I especially love the pool scene.

That's all! Though I do really enjoy most character relationships in the show (Like Phichit and Yuri), I just listed out some of my favorites! Though I wouldn't call these ones ships (As a majority are a minor x Adult), I still included ships in the titles incase you guys have some! Whether platonic or romantic, who's your guys favorite characters to see interact?

Oh my gosh!!! I watched this show for the first time a few days ago and WOW it’s amazing! I genuinely was so hooked and all the characters are amazing. I had to rewatch certain scenes because they were so cute! I love how this show really respected Ice Skating and the complexity of the sport and I especially liked that everyone was allowed to be themselves. It is such a refreshing show. I am really sad it never got more seasons. I looked up all the complications the show had and I’m bummed it turned out this way. But honestly it’s impressive how many fans are still holding out hope for a season two. You guys are the best! I’ll be joining in on that hope, YOI deserves more!

Idk how I feel about the ending cliffhanger, the unresolved relationship between Yuri and Victor. I know the show weren’t marketing it as a BL, but there were so many hints of it, that I was expecting it to end with a big declaration or action of their relationship.

Now I feel empty… though I can def see it be made into a live action…? But maybe there were some expressions/emotions that felt out of place or had not foundation so they might have to hash it out.

I enjoyed it either way. I have never been a watcher of figure skating, so this is my introduction into this world - so I’ll definitely start watching more real life ones now.

Again, I feel so betrayed they didn’t fully showcase their relationship. I will miss them and their accents.

Hi!!! Does anyone know where to find YOI merch/know of YOI landmarks in Tokyo? I saw Base Yard was closing, alongside with that are the Victor and Yuuri statues 😭😭😭 I’ll be going at the end of the month, so hopefully I can still catch them before they close 🥹🥹🥹

So this may not be true ofc, but I was just thinking that the reason it's 'Yuri!!! on Ice', not 'Yuri on Ice!!!' or simply 'Yuri on Ice' could be that they're highlighting Victor and Yuri's dynamic on ice :D i.e., their growing relationship through figure skating.

I'm imagining an excited and happy Victor going "Yuriii!!!" after Yuri's performance, for instance :D

Rewatching the show for the billionth time, I got to where Yuri is trying to figure out Eros and he says that Victor can get away with not figuring out what eros means to him before explaining the playboy story Yuri can see in the program. But I didn't but the Victor didn't think about it so I was wondering if he was maybe thinking of Yuri when he choreographed it?

The playboy story could kinda describe Victor's and Yuri's relationship to that point if you squint hard enough at it: Victor meets Yuri at the banguet, where he dances and flirts with Victor, getting him infatuated with him, only for Yuri to leave back to Japan and reject Victor's advances when he follows aftet him.

Not sure if the writers thought that deep about it, but I like the idea of Victor imagining his dance with Yuri at the banquet when he planned out Eros so I'm going with it.

if any yuri on ice fan (who can model) can make left 4 dead models that would be awesome asf...

So I just watched the show for the first time cuz it was up on YouTube for free. I was confused when at the end of the Grand Prix in the finale, it looks like JJ was standing on the podium in 3rd place. I was under the impression that after he choked in short program and he had a bunch of mistakes in his free skate that he wasn't going to do well enough to medal whereas Altin landed all his jumps and had solid if less memorable performances. So how did JJ manage to outscore Altman and everyone else? Did I miss something or was it just cuz the writers wanted him in 3rd so he got some plot armor?
