R3 Throttle

Hello.

Just got the 2026 R3 as my first bike and overall im a bit disappointed with the throttle. I have to twist my wrist into an unconfortable position and i find myself often needing to reposition my hand.

Looked into throttle play today but its ok, nothing to tweak there. Is there anybody that modded the new version with the R6 tube? It will get better? Thanks.

Oily Substance

Hey y’all I was retuning from the gym and noticed this oily substance pooling on the rim of my R3 and it appears to drip down off onto the tire. This is literally the only spot on the bike with the oily substance on it. I don’t have any friends that ride and don’t want to involve Yamaha if I don’t have to so I thought I could get opinions from this community; I would really appreciate it.

I personally think it’s some sort of lubricant from the factory. It’s a 2026 R3 with just under 600 miles on it, and I was JUST about to do the recommended first oil change. The fork tube, fork seal, brake rotor, caliper, etc. are all completely normal and this is the only oil on the whole bike that’s out of place. I think it’s normal tire mounting lubricant from the factory but I’m trying to be safe and cover all my bases. I’m in Alabama and it’s been very hot lately if that helps. Thank y’all.

UPDATE: It has come to my attention that people think this could seriously be dog piss. I’m beginning to question everything. I do live in an apartment complex with a lot of dogs. I’d like to think an owner wouldn’t allow their dog to lift leg on my bike, but I’ve underestimated people before.

It would explain why I did see a few drops on my motorcycle cover but nowhere else on the bike itself; just remembered that. If it turns out to be dog piss we can all point and laugh at me for this post. I mean I touched it and rubbed it between my fingers and subsequently sniffed my fingers multiple times. I guess I can provide an update later if people actually care.

UPDATE pt. 2: If anyone still cares yes it was piss. I went downstairs (apartment complex btw) to further investigate and took another paper towel to soak some up and put a lighter to it and of course it didn’t catch. Seconds later the sweetest old lady walked up to me and explained that her dog had gotten out and when she found it, it was leg up mid stream on my front wheel. She felt awful and I explained to her that everything was okay and that I was glad to hear that my bike did not have an oil leakage I couldn’t ID.

Thank yall so much for all your help it means a lot. I learned to look out for irregularities and pay more attention to my bike in general. I also made a new friend in the elderly lady who lives in my building. I’m still beefing w her dog but we’ll work it out.

Quad-lock question

Hey everyone, I am trying to help convince a friend that what he has done is a bad idea, I might just be overthinking it, so I suppose I'm just trying to make sure his is safe. He bought the quad lock mount that when you tighten the Allen head screw it expands. He has removed the bolt from his triple tree and is now using just that to hold it on. I've attached a photo of what he has. I just don't feel like it's safe to keep riding it like that, but in all honesty I could be overthinking it. I've also added a picture of what he has removed in favor of his quad lock mount. Our local motorcycle shop did tell him it was fine so I'm second guessing myself here.

Quadlock question part 2

Hey guys, I've gotten some mixed reviews on how my friend is mounting his quad lock, and if I'm being overly sensitive to the idea of it all lol, here is how he has is, a picture of the assembly he used not installed, and finally the option I used when I still had my R3. I'm just wanting homie to be safe is all, but I'm afraid I'm just being silly. This'll be my last post on this. Any feedback is appreciated guys!

Trying to find blinker relay 2021 mt03

I bought a new TST LED blinker relay because my turn signals were blinking too fast because of my led upgrades. I can’t find it on my 2021 mt03. The relay I found under the seat has a different pin layout that I’m pointing to in this picture

Rear bag/Tail bag suggestions!

Hi! Looking for some suggestions for a rear bag large enough for a weekend trip for an overpacker (guilty)! Please note I don’t have my passenger pegs on, so looking for something that doesn’t require strapping to that! Also hoping to avoid anything pushing on my rear blinkers.

Completely torn, 2025 blue vs 2026 black. Any thoughts?

I love the 2025+ R3 look and I’m ready to purchase, but I’m completely torn between two offers:

2025 in Team Yamaha Blue: $6,948 OTD delivered
2026 in Midnight Black $7.1K OTD delivered

I know 2025 and 2026 are identical, but I wonder if saving $150 on a previous model year is really worth it

I do like how the black matches my gear and my car, but it is a bit more generic looking. The blue really pops and is easily identifiable as a Yamaha R bike the second you look at it

Probably splitting hairs here, but what would you do?

PSA regarding 25/26 headlights. Do not use rubbing alcohol to clean them.

I wanted to add a yellow vinyl film. So I ran a test and it looked cool. So I peeled the film off and proceeded to clean it with rubbing alcohol so I could properly add the film. As soon as the alcohol touched the projector lens (it wasn't hot at all, I had eaten lunch before restarting project) it cracked the lens. And continued to spider out.

I looked it up later and found out that it's a big no-no on projector beams made out of plastic (I thought it was glass).

The beam part is not available separately so brand new, it's a $1000 part. The headlight is still functional. But it is an expensive lesson learned.

My new little exhaust 😌

No hate plzzzzz! I got this "slip on" from Amazon for $38 and I love it 😍 had to weld it on, but still less expensive than any other brand name slip on. Also loud as hell...bc it's basically a straight pipe 😆 Have a great day!

Bike got bonked by minivan simple as replacing brake pedal? Currently it's pretty stiff and contacts the rear set bracket above it

Strapping passenger helmet to rear seat solution?

I’m trying to find a secure and elegant solution for strapping a passenger helmet to the rear seat during travel. I’ve tried a couple different bungee nets that didn’t work very well.

2023 R3

Just picked up this 2023 for my son, has only 280 miles (448 km) and is nearly perfect. I was a little hesitant to ride it home an hour away, I have not ridden a bike since selling my Gxr1000 back in 2006. It was a fun ride home, I’m considering getting one for myself now!

Slip On Exhaust Gasket ?

I’m installing an SC Project Ebay slip on exhaust and I’m noticing that i need a gasket to connect the exhaust to the pipe on the bike. The ebay seller said to use aluminum foil?

Is it safe to use aluminum foil inbetween the two? or i’ve heard people using clean beer/pop cans?

I’m totally new to the motorcycle world so any advice would be greatly appreciated!!
