Should I be worried?

I just bought a 2025 R7, and while moving it around in the garage, I noticed this piece lying underneath the bike. Can anyone tell me what it is and whether it came from the bike?

Thank you 😊

My number has been pulled.

With my username as such, it was bound to happen.

Pictures are bad because the Insurance guy would only send me photos he took from his computer screen and texted it to me. Wouldn’t email.

Tuned my R7 2023.

Tuned my R7 with Akra full system + DNA Stage 2 air filter. I’m thinking if there will be more improvements after I add Yoshi airbox. What are your thoughts folks?

Is Yamaha R7 a good beginner bike ?

Trying to get into motor biking again. I rode bikes before (about 5 years ago) but they were low powered bikes (150 to 200 cc) so i know the basics of riding. Most of my commute would be home-office-gym-home, about 60km daily- all city riding. I am looking at cbr 650 vs ninja 650 vs R7. I just love how R7 looks! Many reviews are saying R7 is not very comfortable for city driving. I know all sports bikes have leaning/attack angle but is it something that is going to be a big problem during frequent stops ?

Thank you in advance!
Cheers

Question

I’m looking at getting another bike and I’m between the r7 and r9 but leaning more towards the 7 due to price. But does anyone have any regrets about getting their r7? Do you get left behind in group rides, or feel that it’s sluggish or lacking anywhere?

Been riding for 8 years, I’ve road everything from enduros to gsxr 600

Yamaha R7 2026 + Yoshimura R77 full system exhaust in EU? Will it fit?

I’m picking up the new 2026 Yamaha R7 next month and want to pair it with a Yoshimura R77 full exhaust system. However, I’ve run into a dilemma regarding the installation of the exhaust on this bike...

Before buying the exhaust, I reached out to both the exhaust store and my local dealership. Both told me it will not fit because the 2026 EU model uses two lambda (O2) sensors to comply with the latest Euro 5+ emissions standards.

I’ve seen plenty of people online saying the R77 fits the newer models perfectly because the physical engine layout hasn't changed. But I highly suspect those riders are from the US, where emissions laws are different and they only have to deal with a single O2 sensor? (im speculating)

Since the R77 doesn't natively have ports for both of these EU sensors, I'm trying to figure out how to overcome this:

  • Will the Yoshimura R77 physically bolt up to the 2026 EU header ports?
  • What is everyone doing about the dual sensors? Do you weld a second bung, use an O2/lambda sensor eliminator kit/blocker, or is an ECU flash required to delete the second sensor?

I'd love to hear from anyone in the EU who has successfully installed a Yoshi or similar "US-spec" full system on a recent Euro 5+ R7. Thanks!

I’m absolutely speechless 😭

Everything started when I bought a pair of alpinestars smx6 boots last week, the shifting felt difficult, so I decided to adjust the shifter.

*Picture 1* the top nut on the shift shaft was completely seized. When I tried loosening it, the threads got messed up and it just started spinning in place. At that point I figured screw it I’ve always wanted a quick shifter anyway, so I ordered one. Also I ordered the stripped nut online.

*Picture 2* The quick shifter and the nut I needed arrived today, and while removing the stock setup, the linkage bolt was insanely tight. My hex key couldn’t break it loose and the bolt ended up getting stripped.

I was super pissed at this point, but I wasn’t going to giving up. I had a new plan, drill and extract the stripped bolt, and take it to a hardwarestore to find a replacement

*Picture 3* I went out, bought a brand new drill bit and bolt extractor, drilled deep into the bolt, got the extractor seated perfectly… and right when I was %100 sure the bolt was finally coming loose…

*Picture 4* happened.

I genuinely didn’t even know what to say. The only positive thing I can think of is maybe it’s just God’s plan. Maybe I wasn’t supposed to ride this weekend for a reason.

Either way, I’m not giving up. Now I’m probably gonna look for a totaled R7 nearby and grab the linkage part off it.

Wish me luck guys, I really need it LMAOO 😭😂🥲

Transmission Getting Stuck

Hello everyone,

I just got a 2026 Yamaha R7 70th Anniversary Edition last week and it's been great. But one thing has been really annoying me.

The issue:

  1. Transmission gets stuck in neutral and won't shift to first or second until I release/reengage the clutch.

  2. Transmission gets stuck between gears causing the screen to show a "- -" instead of a number or N and won't allow shifting between gears either.

My initial question is:

  1. Is anyone else experiencing this problem as well, or is it a skill issue?

Context:

For issue one, I experiencing this when shifting from 2nd to 1st when slowing down and when shifting from 1st to 2nd when taking off.

I keep finding Nuetral on accident, which is whatever. I never had this issue when riding my first bike, a 2024 Kawasaki Z500 SE. I would accidentally find Nuetral and simply release pressure of the clutch pedal and then hit it again. But with this bike, I do that and the mechanism inside is pushing back against the pedal. It feels like I'm playing a game of hot potato, trying to shift out of Nuetral.

------

For issue two, I experiencing this when having to come to stop abruptly from 4th gear @45mph. I pulled in the clutch and came to a complete stop at a light. While stopped and the clutch still pulled in, I tried shifting from 4th to 3rd and the Transmission got stuck.

I had to shut the bike off and walk the bike off the road. I can't remember how I got it back into a gear.

------

It could be that I just needed to rotate the back wheel while shifting. But I've done the same thing on the previously mentioned bike, shifting down from a higher gear while stopped, without issue.

I'll ride again tomorrow and see if that is the case: that the back wheel just needs to rotate a little or if it's still an issue.

Let me know what you guys think: is this a skill issue or an actual mechanical failure.

If it is a skill issue, I would appreciate any help. I'm not new to riding, but there may be something I'm ignorant to or something I know, but don't actively consider.

I’m looking at getting a R7 as a first bike I’m 6’3 will it still be comfortable enough?

I have multiple cars so I’m looking at the bike as more of a weekend fun vehicle, is it worth it and if not is there anything others recommend?

How is it riding on the highway

Hey, I’m a new rider and should be getting my license in about a week. I’m thinking about getting an R7 as my first bike — I really love the looks, and the CP2 engine seems awesome.

The only thing that worries me a bit, even though it wouldn’t totally stop me from buying it, is that I plan to ride it twice a week for a 200 km highway trip, which should take around 1h45 to 2 hours per ride.

Also, in France I’ll be limited to 35 kW (47.5 hp). That’s not really an issue for casual riding or commuting, but I’m wondering if it might feel a bit limiting on the highway.

How is the R7 in terms of comfort on the highway?

Size of the nuts on shifter shaft?

note before reading: the picture doesn’t belong to me.

Hi everyone, yesterday I was trying to adjust my shifter position, the left hand nut was stuck on the thread so I forced it a bit, more than I was supposed to, and it ended up messing the threads now its stuck on shifter shaft spinning in its place but not coming off. I thought this was a good time to order a quick shifter so I did. But after watching a couple install videos It looks like I will need the left hand nut on the bottom and the nut on the top to install the qs. I searched the internet to find what size nuts it is. I was just curious if anyone here knows it?

My plan B is to take the shaft to hardware stores and try it on until something fits. Thanks
