Hello. I'm looking for a long-term YouTube video editor for a channel documenting the development, launch, and journey of my mobile games.

I'm not just looking for someone to edit footage I hand them. A big part of this role is understanding the script, figuring out what should visually be shown, and capturing gameplay footage yourself when needed.

My first video follows the 2-year development of my first mobile game (how it started, how it evolved, features that were added or removed, mistakes along the way, how much it cost to develop, and the process of finally getting it ready for release).

What I'm looking for

I want someone who understands long-form YouTube storytelling, ideally with experience in gaming, game development, devlogs, documentaries, or similar content.

I'll provide:

• Finished voiceover
• Full script
• Development screenshots/videos and old footage where available
• Access to the current mobile game/build
• Additional assets/context you need

You would be responsible for figuring out how to visually tell the story.

For example, if my voiceover says:

"Eventually, we added character abilities..."

I don't want to have to send you three clips and tell you exactly where to put them.

I'd like you to open the game, understand the character/ability system, record relevant gameplay, and figure out an engaging way to visually demonstrate what I'm talking about.

That might mean showing the character menu, recording abilities being used, comparing different abilities, highlighting something on screen, etc.

Basically: I provide the story, voiceover, game, and existing assets. You help turn it into a visual story.

Editing style

I'm aiming for a polished YouTube documentary/devlog style rather than an overedited gaming montage.

Think:

• Strong pacing and storytelling
• Gameplay that actually corresponds to the narration
• Clean motion graphics
• Screenshots/messages/documents presented in an interesting way
• Text/graphics when useful
• Music and sound design
• Zooms, highlights, and visual emphasis
• Good viewer retention

I'm especially interested in editors who understand that the purpose of the visuals is to help tell the story, not just fill the screen while the voiceover plays.

Shorts

I'm also looking for someone who can edit YouTube Shorts / TikTok-style vertical content around the games and development process.

Some Shorts may be cut or adapted from the long-form videos, while others may be standalone ideas that require their own gameplay footage and editing.

The same principle applies: I want someone who can understand the idea, go into the game when necessary, capture the footage they need, and turn it into an engaging short-form video.

Experience with short-form hooks, pacing, captions, retention, and vertical editing is a big plus.

Long-term opportunity

This isn't intended to be a one-off job.

I plan to continue making videos about developing my games, behind-the-scenes decisions, launches, updates, results, revenue/performance, mistakes, etc., alongside regular Shorts.

I'd ideally like to find one editor who gets to know the games and channel and can work with me consistently rather than finding a new editor for every upload.
