I overthink. I read too much into things. But hear me out.
u/turd_sculptor referred to the current stage design as their lab. I thought it was our spaceship wuth the Boys at the command station. We are not earthlings, we are the aliens.
The satellite dish in the current stage design is not us sending information from our lab, but Earth sending it out to space and we are picking up the static and noise.
All of the snippets of sound and Transmissions were being received by us, not sent out by us. That theme runs pretty consistently through the music, set designs, and short films/videos. We are picking up sounds and video sent from earth for many decades (Occupants of Interplanetary, Heartbeat Interlude, and Channel Flipping are great examples of that).
We've had first and second contact with earth and it's inhabitants. We've learned their alphabet and most recently their primary colors (and VIOLET).
I may be totally off base, but that's how I interpret it all. Anyhow, that puts us all lined up for Third Contact. Earth has been sending out welcome greetings for a very long time. How will they actually receive us when we land in Hampton, VA in April 2028?
I'm still fucking awestruck from Friday night. I have so much appreciation for this experience and I needed to shout my thanks into the void. I hope you'll join me if you were there and you feel the same way.
This performance was absolutely incredible. I was honored that they wore the suits for us and they absolutely meant business.
If I'm not mistaken this may be the most hip hop heavy set on the tour with all the wonderful NY nods they had in there and I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to be there.
The stage design and visual effects were my favorite from any show I've attended. I want their team to know how much I appreciate their contribution to this performance too.
That laboratory was such a crisp set, the on screen visuals felt like a respectful tribute to all their influences and the fucking satellite 📡 dish bro. Oh my God that thing was truly chef's kiss! 🤌🔥
The way it hid behind the screen and only revealed itself to the crowd under such intentional circumstances was immaculate. The way they channeled illuminated vapor around it was artful and unique.
I'm a regular ass peasant from Maine and I probably couldn't responsibly afford coming down the first time but I was not going to walk away with a refund. My wife and I doubled down and booked plane tickets so we could return to the return and it was worth every damn penny. Thank you DC, Hooks, the crew, the openers, and everyone we interacted with for making this the journey of a lifetime.

After ACL Live, they played almost like a sad love song sang by an older gentleman who they put on screen for the visuals.
