Maurice Lacroix AIKON #tide, summer watch with a story behind it
The Maurice Lacroix AIKON #tide is probably one of the most playful interpretations of the AIKON and this yellow & black combination feels made for summer.
But there’s more behind the bright colors. The #tide collection was launched in 2022 through Maurice Lacroix’s partnership with Swiss company #tide, using upcycled ocean-bound plastic combined with glass fibre for the watches. The sustainable approach even extends to the packaging.
According to Maurice Lacroix, the material used for one watch and its packaging represents 17 recovered PET bottles, while the wider initiative included funding plastic collection, boats, warehouses and educational programs. The original commitment was to recover 10 million bottles from waters around islands in Southeast Asia.
Sustainability aside, I think this is exactly where the collection works best: bold colors, rubber straps and a lightweight, casual character that feels perfect for summer days.
