Hi all!
Looking and getting one of the versions above and looking for help on which is more worthwhile. Mainly going to be using it for recording instruments and applying some processing.
Ignoring the costs, is what you get extra with suite actually useful? Are the plugins good or do people seek to replace them?
Still quite new with Ableton but have been recording and playing music for past 20 years - any insight would be grand and apologies if any part of this sounded dumb.

Hello everyone, I'm posting because I haven't found anything online about this, and I don't know how to approach it.
I've been using Ableton here and then, I learnt about it at school but mostly for recording and sampling and such... Lately I've been creating synth effects and soundscapes mostly for cover songs and such, but I'm gonna start playing those effects and synths on a live band setting...
But my question is, how do I manage to play a 20 song setlist, each using with different effects and samples??
Do I create 20 files and open a file for each song? Do I load them all into a single file?? (I'm scared to do that because some samples and effects are automated, and mostly I fear a computer crash with only 1 file for everything).
I really don't know how to approach this, and the last option I mentioned seems to be my most viable option, creating a file for each song, with all the necessary effects for that song.
I'm open to suggestions and advice.
Thanks.
Is there a way to move my entire Ableton setup (plugins, settings, midi options etc) to a new Windows machine ? I've bought a new machine and setup everything again will be a pain...
If so, what do you think of them? Which modules do you use? I want to buy one or two modules for my portable set up. I’m only interested in studio use and not for playing live. Which ones would you recommend? Thanks!
Just released my first plugin Ikonos on my site!
Here are the controls:
Punch
Punch EQ
Low
Top
Vinyl
Input / Output
Two modes:
Cassette
Tape Machine
Grab it at archergate.co
I also threw in a free drum kit as well.
No idea why but instead of moving the note it keeps changing the semitone. How do i change this?
Here I am just stumbling through learning like a dope. Please help. :)
I promise i help people in things im good at. This just aint it yet.
Hi everyone,
First post here.
Long time producer using Live. I have used other DAWs but Ableton holds the spot for number one for me.
I am writing an essay at university that compares Ableton Live to other DAWs and how it holds a unique spot in the DAW market.
Any contributions are greatly appreciated.
Through the use of NASA’s API and TouchDesigner, I’ve managed to capture near-earth space objects data [asteroids and fireballs], and used it to trigger MIDI signals in Ableton Live. Said signals are feeding a stock sampler, which happens to be loaded with a couple of one of my favorite artist’s vocal takes.
To give it a little more musicality to the experiment, I decided to iterate through the data of the last six objects that passed close to Earth between the selected dates.
Data goes as follows:
total-radiated-energy → C1 to B1
impact-energy → C1 to B1, C2 to B2 and C3 to B3
latitude → C2 to B2
longitude → C1 to B1 and C3 to B3
altitude → beat repeat’s interval, grid and gate
velocity → beat repeat’s offset and variations
More experiments, through my YouTube channel, project files available through the Tools Store.
Choose the drop that you think sounds better!!
Option 1- until 1/32 divisions
Option 2- until 1/16 divisions
Option 3- meh neither is good
(Also sorry I know I misspelled divisions but don’t want to edit it again)
Should I still use the melody in my song?
In fact, Melody Sauce is using the melody on YouTube to demo their VST. I am a bedroom producer who never thought I'd be skilled enough to release a song. But I had already contracted a producer to add finishing touches to my song.
I know one should just enjoy the process and not get too caught up with the result but this constant “ugh you aren’t good enough “ voice is frustrating
I have been spending a significant amount of time at my gf's house and have gotten her into recording (I'm an audio engineer and she has an interest in what I do) so I decided, for the both of us (but mostly me lol) to set up a really basic rig on her PC so she could fiddle around.
I got Ableton lite, bought a cheap license, downloaded the free trial of FL Studio (it saves and exports, ya just can't re-open saved projects) and got a copy of Amphub (which I think is an outstanding amp emulator), and bought a super cheap Focusrite Scarlett Solo off of FB Marketplace for $50 which he threw an a free XLR that reeked of cat piss lol (easily remedied)
All in all, it's a really noisy interface, and took a LOT of troubleshooting to get working, but it works for a basic starter rig. So, as a demo project, I whipped together this track to kinda illustrate to her what it can do... And it kinda slaps.
Note : This is completely unmixed, unmastered, and most of the tracks are scratch and are placeholders for final takes. I was mostly just riffing around to get a basic idea going... So it's kinda a muddy wall of clippy sound lol but a cool synthwavy idea none the less.
Any other thoughts or suggestions would be awesome! (Not begging, in case the mods be watching lol)

Hey everyone! I've recently decided I'd like to pursue teaching Ableton as a career. I was wondering if anyone else here is doing this? And if so, how did you go about getting your first students? I'd really appreciate any help or insight. Cheers.
