Dating apps Yay or Nay!

Hello guys, what is wrong with Ahmedabad's dating culture.. Most of the guys you meet on dating apps are so dumb or behave like that.. It is tiresome atp, plus there are no activities to do here, it gets so boring!! Are there any other apps besides Hinge and Bumble?

A rant about the deteriorating state of my city!

What is up with this city and the people lately? I was born and brought up in Ahmedabad, lived on both sides of the river. I grew up in the old city, and now I live in the western part of town. And this city has started to go downhill super quick in the past few years. Before you come at me for not calling Ahmedabad safe, it IS still safer than most cities of this size but not as safe as it was before.

It is scary to drive on the road with all these no number plate-tinted glasses cars. You can't say or point out what's wrong without being threatened, and you can only survive with putting your head down the entire time. Every other person on the road is a gunda or a dada, and would beat the shit out of you even for flickering lights at them when they are on the wrong side. I see a creta, swift, sonet, or a scorpio with "State of Ramadhani" as their number plate and keep at least a 50 ft distance because I dont come from a family of politicians, neither is my family rick, nor do we have any contacts in police or legal whatsoever. And the cops would not do anything either. Even malls like Palladium are now full of people who would stare at you for too long, and are in groups of 7-8 with gold chains and shirts half open. I now live in Shela, and every other car has missing number plates and pitch black tinted glasses, would zoom off next to you as if the world was on fire, and would act as if this country owes them a life of kings. Why won't these guys opt for defense forces with their bravado? Seems like instead of growing with time, we are only going back and deteriorating.

Please drop your suggestions on how do you deal with this, because by this rate, we would be so close to UP and Bihar, it won't even be surprising.

I miss the old times

You meet someone. You laugh at the same stupid things. Their presence feels peaceful. You start caring without keeping score. Somewhere along the way, you realise, "I’d fight the whole world to see this person happy."

That used to feel enough.

Now dating feels like recruitment.

Minimum package: 30+ LPA.

Height requirement.

Body type requirement.

Specific lifestyle.

Specific social status.

Specific aesthetics.

Specific emotional skillset.

Specific family background.

And before anyone says “standards are important” Yes, they are. Nobody should settle for disrespect, instability or incompatibility.

But sometimes I wonder, at what point did standards quietly become shopping filters?

People criticize arranged marriages in India for reducing humans to biodata, salary, caste, height, family status etc.

Yet modern dating increasingly feels like the same thing wrapped in prettier language.

“Manifesting a 6-foot emotionally available finance guy.”

“Need someone ambitious but always available.”

“Need someone healed, confident, attractive, wealthy, funny, secure…”

Again preferences are normal.

But I keep wondering whether we’re slowly optimizing ourselves out of genuine connection.

Because love was never supposed to begin with certainty.

It was supposed to begin with curiosity.

With growing together and discovering someone beyond their checklist.

Somewhere, it feels like people stopped asking

“Do I feel safe with this person?”

“Do they make ordinary moments softer?”

“Can we survive ugly days together?”

…and started asking

“Do they fit the life I’ve already designed?”

Maybe I’m being naive.

Or maybe I just miss when affection felt more human and less transactional.

I look around sometimes and wonder if we’re creating a generation surrounded by options but starving for love.

Does anyone else feel this way, or am I romanticising the past?

Moving to Ahmedabad for the next 5 years...need some local advice

Hey guys,

I’ll be moving to Ahmedabad soon for college and will probably stay there for around 5 years. My mom will be coming with me too, so just wanted to know a few things from people living there.

.Is it easy to find a decent furnished AC apartment for rent?

.How’s Ahmedabad for South Indians?

.My mom is 45 and works from home, so are there good ways for her to meet people/make friends?

.And overall, how’s the city to live in?

Would love to hear any suggestions or things we should know before moving. Thanks :)

Ahmedabad Offices: AC, Fans, or Just Positive Thinking?

Ahmedabad is basically an oven right now 🥲

So I have a genuine question. A friend works in an office where the AC is used only for part of the day because of electricity costs. The rest of the time it's mostly fans trying their best against 40°C+ weather.

Is this actually common in Ahmedabad offices, or is my friend just collecting character development points?

How does your office handle the heat? Full-day AC, limited hours, or the classic "sit closer to the fan and pray" strategy?

Curious to hear other people's experiences.

22F looking for an Software/Python developer Opportunity in Ahmedabad

Hi everyone,

I recently completed my B.Tech in Computer Science and I’m currently looking for Software Developer / Python Developer opportunities in Ahmedabad.

I have hands-on experience with Python, Angular, Node.js, SQL, REST APIs, and full-stack development. During my internship at Reliance Industries Ltd., I worked on enterprise applications, API development, SQL Server integration, and Python automation.

I’ve also built projects involving AI, NLP, and RAG-based systems, along with full-stack applications using Angular + Node.js.

If any company is hiring freshers/interns or if you have referrals/leads, I’d really appreciate it. Thank you!

I’m really interested in acting and want to join a drama group, theatre workshop, or anything related to performance arts. I have no professional experience yet, but I genuinely want to learn and explore this field seriously.
