Metagame Rules

Anyone ever ponder/try long form rules with your game group? Some way to evolve decks over time, give a sense of continuity between games. A Journey Mode, if you will.

My current, untested musings:

Every player chooses a hero and creates a deck of 39 common cards. For every game played with a deck, experience is gained for that deck. 3 base xp, +1 if it wins. Then, spend xp to tweak your deck between games in the following ways:

  • -0 to swap a common with a new common (limit two free swaps after each game)
  • -1 to add a new common
  • -2 to upgrade a common to its rare version (and remove the common)
  • -3 to upgrade a rare to a unique version (remove the rare)
  • -7 to add a unique

Additionally, there could be a way to downgrade and retrieve xp to spend again for some flexibility, though I worry about long deckbuilding sessions later on if someone wants to functionally recreate their deck by 25+ point swings. Also, I'm entirely a physical player, so I haven't factored in the limitations of the digital medium since I don't play it. XD

In any case, I don't have an endgame in mind; just keep playing and evolving the decks until people feel satisfied with an end state and start fresh with new decks.

Thoughts? Ideas and experiences of your own?

Draft with only three players: what's your opinion?

My friends would like to play a draft, but we are only three (4 boosters per person). Is it still fun with this few players?

Looking to build two balanced decks for my TCG collection (~$80 budget)

Hi everyone!

I collect trading card games, and one of my goals is to own two playable decks from every TCG so I can introduce friends to each game without needing anyone else to have cards.

For this game, I'm looking for two decks that are fun, reasonably balanced against each other, and showcase what makes the game unique. I want decks that are just enjoyable to play repeatedly.

I'm open to either:

Buying two starter/preconstructed decks and upgrading them if needed, or

Building two decks from scratch.

My total budget is around $80 USD.

What would you recommend? Thanks!

Unique with spelling mistake

I pulled a unique Reka Magnate with a spelling mistake.

“Create a Manaseed token in targer player’s Landmarks”.

Text says “targer“ instead of “target”. Is this considered a misprint? Has anyone else pulled a card with a similar typo?

Has anyone made a cube?

Idk anything about cube making and was wondering if anyone has made one for drafting that I could try to copy. Idk if it would even work too, do you just do 7 packs with the cards you have?
