Any jobs for me

I honestly need a job , I’ve been applying everywhere and nothing comes back. Is there jobs that are able to hire a 20 year old. I barely got experience in anything. I really need a job so I can make some money.

Dryer Wall

I took a photo in front of a wall of stacked dryers when I was passing through like 10 years ago. I believe it was in S Philadelphia St between two buildings next to a railroad track. Any idea if it’s still there??

Randall Burn ban clarification

Just letting everyone know that according to the fire department (who I JUST spoke to) the burn ban only applies to brush fires, so burning trash, bonfires, those things. I was specifically told if you have a grill on, a fire within a fire pit, a contained “social gathering” fire, and of course fireworks, all perfectly fine.

They just recommend (insist) if you do decide to light a fire for s’mores tonight or just to sit around, make sure you’re doing it safely away from any trees, dry brush, structures, etc, and to have a water bucket or fire hose right beside you in the event that you need to put out the fire.

Reminder: do not just leave your fire once it’s “mostly out” please do the responsible thing and put out the fire completely if you are going to leave it unattended. Sand, dirt, water, all great for putting out fires safely. Remember to stir the fire after putting it out to make sure you don’t miss any little embers.

Remember your fire safety everyone! Be safe and have a happy 4th.

Good places to sell?

Is there any good places in town where I can sell old clothes, plus maybe some knicknacks as well? I know platos tends to be a go to for clothes but I also hear they don't usually take much.

I'm not opposed to donating in the end, but as a student trying to declutter and save for college, I'd prefer to turn even a bit of a profit.

As a sidenote, I entertained the idea of a yard/garage sale but had no luck as none of my relatives really have a good enough space or neighborhood for me to run with that idea. 😅

Recovery in Amarillo

I’ve been sober for 14 years. It will be 15 in September. I’ve lived here for 2 years and I haven’t been able to really find a home group. This is mostly due to my fears of being rejected. I’m gay and I’m a Democrat. I’m not like a lot of people up here. I got sober in a big city with very diverse people and groups that were very accepting of gay people. I know this is a problem that I have created myself and hopefully is not the reality of recovery here. I guess my question is this, are people here accepting of those in recovery like myself? Are there other gay people in recovery here in Amarillo? I’ve yet to run into another in 2 years. Which groups are good? Sorry for the rambling. I’m just a dry drunk that’s spinning out at the moment and searching for some relief.

Woke up this morning at 5 am to some type of police/military agency banging on the apartment doors around me at Boulder Bay near SW 58th. Ended up with an apartment raided and it looked like several people were detained/Arrested. Anyone know what happened?

Fireworks on Saturday - where to watch?

I’m road tripping through Amarillo on Saturday and hoping to catch the fireworks at John Stiff park. We have kiddos with us so we don’t want to be to in the thick of the crowds, is there a place with a slightly worse view we could watch from? A store or school parking lot you recommend?

Evergreen Apartments

Has anyone lived or have experienced Evergreen Apartments on the east side of Amarillo? Main address is 820 Evergreen St, 79107. How come Google street view shows no car? Is it being torn down?

This one’s controversial

My mom grew up here. Left in the 80s and didn’t come back until some years ago. I did not grow up here, I’ve just heard about here. When she was looking at houses, there was a bunch of cheap ones that she refused to look at because they were in “n***** town” (her words not mine) wtf does that mean? Lmao. Is it up by grand and Ross that she’s talking about?

Homicide in Eastrigde last night

Does anyone have any insight on the homicide in Eastrigde last night? The cops were across the street yesterday, around 9 or so. Then again last night around 11:30.

ISO New Primary Care Doctor

I’m looking for a new pcp to go to. Someone who’s accepting patients pretty quickly.

I have Aetna insurance, I would prefer women’s health and a female doctor. I also need one that is understanding of anxiety and panic disorders. I’m struggling with health anxiety and I know one of the first steps toward getting back on track is by proving to my brain that I don’t have all of the actual health issues my brain is concocting lately.

I can cross reference names of providers with my Aetna app to make sure they’re in network.

Thank you!

Help for an elderly borderline hoarder?

Hi, Amarillo. My mom lives there, and when she finally allowed me to come visit to help her after eye surgery (it had been seven years since I set foot in her home). I was in total shock at the state of her house. She has severe back problems among other health issues and has only been doing the basic house upkeep for years. There are clothes, empty water bottles, unopened parcels, this that and the other EVERYWHERE. It is hoarding behavior, except there is no filth to deal with, so at least there's that. It is a large house and she wants to downsize, but there is no way she can hold an estate sale and sell it until she gets all this stuff dealt with.

I am seeking help for her to get her house together to a normal, livable and sellable state. I would do it myself but I live 250 miles away and have lots of responsibilities here. She has not sought help because she doesn't trust that a stranger would not steal from her or otherwise take advantage of her, and that is a concern for me as well. I know there has to be someone in town who is professional and comes with good references, or perhaps is licensed and insured. She can pay for such a service, but she has limited money so it would have to be a reasonable fee.

Any assistance or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for reading!
