I just listened to Everything Now and it wasn't great...

I've been listening to all their albums in order and the first 4 were so good, but everything now was kind of a let down. Do people like this album?

I thought it was really repetitive and didn't have enough interesting ideas. The lyrics didn't really make much sense, especially all the stuff about people listening to Arcade fire while unaliving themselves? And then idk why there was two versions of infinite content or three versions of en. Plus there was barely any minor chords in the whole album.

EN sounded like an ABBA song. Chemistry was sooooo repetive, creature comfort just had really really weird lyrics. Peter pan had STUPID lyrics. Electric blue was like two notes.

The only songs I liked were put your money on me, and we don't deserve love. And even those weren't any of their best songs or anything.

What's the general consensus around this album? I think it's definitely the worst one so far, but I still haven't heard We or Pink elephant.

New Muse song vs Intervention

Hi all, please someone tell me I am not crazy: How can Muse's new track (I don't know the name) not be a plagiarism of the beginning of Intervention?

I was listening to a very commercial radio station when it begun and was like "what, old AF on that radio, impossible". Impossible indeed... :S

Likelihood of Will replying to insta dm?

sorry i am posting again in here, but im writing an essay for my masters centred around one of Will’s old blog posts. I recently DMed him to ask him some questions for my essay (not about the blog post, though I did tell him about it, but questions about the essay’s actual subject matter, which is audience and interpretation, how responsible the artist is for what consumers ‘get’ from their work, etc).
i was wondering if anyone on here has had a response from him in the past?
him answering my questions isn’t super necessary but it would be incredible!

just to add: he has about 3 weeks to reply before essay is due which isn’t a lot of time

Does anyone know anything about The New International Standards?

The New International Standards was a band formed in 2001 whose members included Annesley Black, Tim Kingsbury, Richard Reed Parry, and maybe Jeremy Gara.

Arcade Fire filled in for the breaking-up New International Standards as the opening act for Broken Social Scene in 2002.

I haven’t been able to find any bio, photos, or released material online except this.

Anyone know why AF lacks much of a fan base now?

I know about the allegations (I say allegations, everyone knows that shit happened) but I just wanted to have a sort of conversation with older fans why there is hardly any AF fan base on other platforms now?

I’m 23 but I only got into AF this year so I don’t know a lot about the community. In comparison to pre-split panic, they still have a huge fan base on places like pinterest and tumblr even though they haven’t been a ‘band’ since 2009.

Reading old magazines, AF are mentioned a lot. I never realised how famous they were back in the 2000s. Though panic isn’t mentioned at all.

I was just wondering if anyone who knows more about AF could tell me why this is?

I compare them to panic because imo their first album is very similar in vibes to panics afycso and both bands released albums around the same years. It just seems strange there are so many new panic fans from younger generations but none for AF (even though they were technically musically better than panic bc the members of panic were so young).

Is it just because of the allegations? Or is there something else?

Any Arcade Fire fans who listen to Geese?

When Crusades comes on do you start singing, "When Lenin was little..."?

Pink Elephant - One year anniversary

Last year, I filmed the two shows in Montréal, and this is a one-minute video I had fun editing. I hope you'll like it!

Still says Win and Regine are married in the subreddit description

Nothing much else to say, except that I'm wishing a good luck to these two with their personal lives now.

"Dimensions" is one of the band's most extraordinary pieces of work

It's immensely popular for a reason, it speaks to the soul universally, yet I feel like it's often overlooked when people discuss their discography here. I wish they did more real soundtracks.

Old Funeral-era Arcade Fire website

Hey! I've been trying to access the old AF website through the wayback machine, but I can only see the text in the blog posts and the parts with pics just load and load. Does anyone have an archive of the photos/know if theres anything I can do to access the pics from the old site? I'm only on a macbook, maybe I will try from the PC at work, though I tried from my sisters Dell laptop and still the same result.

Main thing I want is the photos from the site, accessing the site is just a bonus, thank you!!

EDIT: Here are the pics I have been able to uncover from their 2003 site, I posted them to tumblr along with the old mp3s if anyone's interested: https://www.tumblr.com/kidsaredyingoutinthesnow/816089223715274752/stuff-ive-found-on-old-af-website-through-the?source=share
