Name a band or artist you saw at a small venue that’s famous now (bonus if it’s ATL)

I posted this on Insta and got some phenomenal stories so I’d love to hear more here! So far I heard about Janelle Monáe, Maroon 5, Noah Kahan, Prince and so many others!

any low judgment jazz jams?

Are there any jazz jams around town that wouldn’t be too snooty to a not beginner but not virtuosic keys player? People just looking to have some fun playing standards?

We made this with a pretty low budget and we think it turned out pretty cool! We hope you like the music!

Some music I've made that I'm quite proud of.

Hey y'all, wanted to share some music I've made! Ive been recording myself for longer than a decade, but since 2020 I've been making music under the name Church Medic and it was pretty indebted to things like Modest Mouse, Pinegrove and other indie rock.

Recently Ive been getting more into experimental music, dance music, Neo-Soul, Jazz, basically anything that isn't boiler plate rock music. Over the first half of this year Ive been chipping away at this collection of songs, with contributions from my brother on piano.

So if you would be so kind to lend your ears to *Those Aren't Mountains* out now on Bandcamp, it would be greatly appreciated!

And if the music, or the other releases on my Bandcamp, is something ya dig send me a message and let's collaborate!

Last chance to make some art

  1. Kid about to go off to college. Somewhat demanding corporate job. Was in bands in college and grad school, and looking to give voice to whatever is left in me musically. Not-flashy guitarist, somewhat out of practice. Like, will need to get a new amp to do this out of practice. Song-idea-haver. Reluctant-but-not-embarrassing singer. Looking for like-minded, similarly-situated, good human beings who will co-create loud music that would fit into a mix with bands like Fugazi, Karate, Rodan, Slint, Jawbox, and for the younger set, Balance & Composure, Foxing, Mannequin Pussy, Momma, Sweet Pill, Pool Kids. Have a drummer friend I could probably coax out of retirement if the vibes were good. He keeps time like a goddamn metronome and has similar influences. DM me if this sounds like a situation you’d consider getting involved in. Thanks for reading.

party era summer before moving

I (24/f) am a native of atl, but somewhat a stranger to the club scene. I just got some great news that requires me to move across the country, but I want to spend my last summer in atl in my party girl era before I have to lock in. I love all kinds of music, but looking for places I can totally melt into, I like melodic rap, rap psychedelia that intersects with rave/house. Open to all spaces!!!!! I just wanna dance and meet people around my age.

Can you still get to the Masquerade from MARTA?

I know you used to be able to go down the stairs to Kenny's alley and it was like 5 mins from five points. With the clusterfuck getting ready for the world cup, is that still doable?

Original Country Music in ATL: Kick-Off Line Up for Roadhand Roundup!

https://preview.redd.it/5j4q0r4z701h1.png?width=1080&format=png&auto=webp&s=98fbeb5f94e35e6bc279a827d3412828dd215932

My husband is Cody of Cody Bolden & The Roadhands. They are a country band out of Atlanta that tours around the Southeast and into Texas. Their sound combines traditional ballads, classic country, and honky tonk tunes.

One of the things he always talks about after playing in other cities is how he wished there was a place in Atlanta for folks that love original country music to get together on a regular basis and hear great music.

So, we decided to do it ourselves!!

I am super excited to announce the lineup for our first Roadhand Roundup on Wednesday, June 3rd!

Doors at 8pm.
8:30pm - Tyler Key
9:15pm - Luke Brown and the Jubilee
10:15pm - Cody Bolden & The Roadhands

Very excited to get this monthly series rolling and even more exciting to have these folks on the bill.

529 will even have the hot dog stand open.

Entry is $10 cash at the door. Must be 18 and up.

If you can't make it in June -- here are all of the dates through the end of the year!!

Pop punk band of 4 looking for another guitarist

We’re in the early stages of being a band. We want to bring on another guitar player to finish off the line up. The goal is writing original music so we’re looking for someone who enjoys and has experience in writing. We practice at least once a week out of a free place in Tucker. If you’re interested, shoot me a DM!

Loraine - Qualm

This is a video we filmed 11 years ago for the original release of Qualm. Directed and filmed by Isaac Lee. We were still kids when we did this, but I think it turned out pretty poignant and definitely fits the vibe of the song and how it's meant to make you feel.

Anyways, hope you enjoy!

COLLAPSER composer/songwriter piano rock

Hey, I'm Gordon. I put out an album recently of 11 songs. It took me about 3 years to create. It's absolutely self-produced, from writing and recording to mixing and mastering.

I hope you'll give it a listen, at least scroll through some of the songs and see if anything catches your ear. The album is available for free, but of course you are welcome to donate.

I don't really know how to describe this stuff in terms of genre. It's definitely a weird form of rock with piano instead of guitar. But otherwise, it is very much of blend of different styles, sometimes proggy, sometimes poppy, sometimes jazzy, but overall hard to categorize. To me, it just feels normal, it's just how I write music. Generic without a genre.

Feel free to reach out if you like this stuff. You can find my contact info on my bandcamp page. I'd be stoked to connect with other musicians in town, and with fans of the music.
