Woah.

You really cannot describe how beautiful this dial is. AP knows how to make dials dance.

Likelyhood of getting a 37mm blue dial with no history?

I began my wait about 1 year ago by walking into my local AP boutique. I went in, had a good discussion for 30 minutes about the brand and watches in general.

They of course asked me what I did and if I lived local.

The visit seemed positive with the AD stating that they will "try to get you one"

I've been following up every few months or so and also booked another appointment last week.

Went in, was all very friendly and fun. Verified that 37mm was the size for me. They did say that 41mm blue was never a first allocation which is fair enough, but 37mm should be possible.

Again I was left with the idea that it should be possible and was told "probably next year"

Does this sound promising or am I wasting time? I'm happy to wait for the watch I want

New AP OFFSHORE (WALK-IN)

Finally joined the AP club

Picked up my first Royal Oak Offshore and I honestly can’t stop staring at it. The finishing, the weight, the way the light hits the case.

As the title mentions, walked in into a random boutique and was told this would arrive later in afternoon.
Came back the next day and was able to see it person, and I fell in love. Given that this is a new release, is this a tough watch to allocate?

How does one buy an AP with a stolen credit card?

Something that happened to me in 2018 that I never figured out. My replacement credit card stolen from the lobby. Chase had recently sent me a replacement after a fraudulent charge occurred. The new card was stolen from the lobby (New York non doorman building), and on the same day the thief maxed out my limit and bought an AP and Cartier in New York. The stores are within a block of one another.

See my credit card screenshot I saved. lol, moviepass is my legitimate purchase.

Filed an nypd report and chase identified it as fraud. I never even heard of AP at the time but knowing how hard it is to get one… how could this have happened?

Royal Oak finishing is something else in person

Photos really don’t do it justice.

The way the brushed surfaces and polished edges interact with light is insane, it’s way more dynamic than I expected.

I used to think it was a bit overhyped, but seeing it properly changed my mind.

For people who’ve handled or owned one:

  • What surprised you most the first time you saw a Royal Oak in person?

  • Did it live up to expectations?

1st Time in Boutique Advice

1st Time in Boutique Advice

Hey everyone, have an appointment at the boutique in Crystals. This will be my first ever boutique visit and I'm looking to build a long term relationship with them (I don't want just 1-2 pieces).

I made my appointment to drop of a vintage 25594SA to extract archives and to look at some pieces. I'm pretty well versed in horology and have done a lot of research since I was young on the brand, movements and history. I have 2 pieces (15450ST White Dial & 25594SA) both bought grey and would be interested in picking up a code 11.59 to start the relationship since I do actually like the model.

After the code does that put me in the door for a SS RO or ROC with grey/olive/black dial? the 37-38mm models fit me perfectly and don't know if that will help since I don't think I'd be interested in the 41mm models. Can't do the ROO since it looks way too large on my wrist and not my style.

Does having 2 royal oaks bought from grey hurt or help me in anyway (I know it doesn't count for spend but in terms of "judgement".) Appreciate anyones input with experience!

ROO Debate

Went to AP House recently and had a genuinely great experience. Staff was awesome, watches were incredible, and I completely understand that relationships have to start somewhere.

But it became pretty clear that if you want access to the sought-after pieces eventually, you’re realistically starting with a ROO or Code.

Here’s where I’m torn:

I already have a pretty diverse collection and have no issue buying a piece I genuinely love. I actually liked a few of the Offshore Divers I tried on. But it’s hard mentally to justify spending ~$35k-$40k after tax on something that trades significantly lower on the secondary market.

Meanwhile, I’d have no issue going grey for a blue dial 41mm Royal Oak or jumbo because that’s a watch I truly want long term.

So my question to people who’ve gone through the AP process:

If you buy grey and bring the watch into AP House, register it, build a relationship, show you’re a real enthusiast, does that carry any credibility at all?

Or does direct boutique purchase history outweigh everything?

Does this suit my wrist?

Not that I'm likely to be offered a RO anytime soon, but I like the size, seeking validation from strangers :)

Damaged the box and they said they can’t replace

hey,

So I got my first ap last year from AP. I have a good enough relationship with my contact and have another appointment coming up soon.

unfortunately the paper box for my ap ripped slightly and I asked my contact if I could get a new one and he said they arent able to.

Am I doing too much .. I paid 27k for a watch and I’m asking if you can just get me another paper cover and you’re saying no ??? Isnt that wild ?

ROYAL OAK QUARTZ - Stainless steel 33mm

Any idea how long it would take me to get offered this at the AP house? For reference, I’m a lady, I have no spend history and I’m located in south florida. My closest AP would be Miami. I feel like this watch would be competitive. I’m hoping for a year.. is that far fetched?

Is it posible to polish this part of the bezel?

Scratched it a few years ago. I'm thinking about selling it but also researching if it might be unpolishable or not. To stand my ground if they want to use that as an excuse to lower the offer.

References for this polished steel ladies (25mm) Royal Oak?

I tried this on today at Material Good in NYC. I’m having trouble finding many previous listings or information about this specific model (the polished finish particularly). I actually love the polished bracelet instead of the typical brushed.

It looks like it was a mid/late 90’s version but there’s very little information I’ve been able to pull up. Does anyone know about it or have sources for its model, value, etc? Any help is appreciated!
