I am not familiar with the reddit avatar system and I have seen this sooo cute axolotl avatar (I am obsessed with axolotls) and was wondering if there was a way I could get it? I attached a photo of it I found online :<

A couple of years ago, I wrote a post about the Collectible Reddit Avatars and how they were selling out fast.

So, immediately after writing that story, I bought some of those NFTs for myself, and I am pleased to say that all of the avatars I bought skyrocketed in value.

This post is about the first collectible avatar I bought and how it turned my $50 into $350

The NFT was a Mutant Monarch and is part of the first generation of NFT collectible avatars. When I wrote my previous post describing the Reddit NFTs, it was worth $50. I immediately bought it after seeing the opportunity to own something rare (there are only 151 copies of this avatar).

A few hours after I bought the avatar, it sold out and was selling at 0.33 eth(around $50 then), but I paid it no mind since I was planning to hold the NFT for about a month.

Fast forward to yesterday, I was casually browsing Reddit when I came across a post saying that the "the hands" avatar, which Reddit initially sold for $50, was sold for 4 eths (~$5000).

Naturally, I got curious and checked how my first NFT was doing, and this is what I saw: click to view image in full size

It was last sold for 0.27 eth (~$350)!

Granted, it was not as good as 4 eths. A 700% increase in value isn't bad at all!

Before anyone asks me, I haven't sold mine off, and I haven't even listed it since I am predicting that the value of this avatar still has a lot of room to grow. I think that these avatars' value will keep growing as it ages.

In this partnership with r/thenewsbruh and u/Hoppy_Doodle, holders of Paperboy ( https://mash-it.io/mashers?listing=940 ) can play the News Run game ( https://mash-it.io/game/play/news-run/final-boss ).

We just added a Final Boss level with an experimental feature: "Victory Prompt." It uses Gen AI to create a victory pose based on the Paperboy image, the Boss image, and the player's prompt.

This image generation consumes AI tokens, which cost real $$$.

As a pilot, we are sponsoring 100 plays, fully absorbing the token costs. If this works, we'll explore how to make it sustainable.

Now we want your feedback:

1. What's your opinion of images being generated by AI based on non-AI Mashis and artwork designed by our artists?
2. If we charge a small amount (e.g., USD 0.15–0.20 per play, like an arcade), would you play? Part of this money would cover the AI token costs, and part would go to the artist/game designer who created the sprites for the game. Note: this is one way of addressing "AI stealing artists' work" — actually, AI would let collectors augment the artist's work while remunerating them with a micropayment in every gameplay.
3. If we sell $MASHI "stablecoins" (again, to play a game, it would cost 15–20 cents of 1 $MASHI) to be used in games and other features, would you buy? Note that this would be a "utility coin" — similar to a stablecoin — not a speculative asset. Don't buy it expecting it to "go to the moon"; its value would be stable, and the use case is to play a game or perform an action that consumes tokens.
4. Any additional considerations or ideas?

Just came across some pics of mashups back when avatars first started out gen 1 to 3 (I think). Good times!

Hello everyone, I am losing my absolute fucking mind right now. I was trying to transfer a collectible avatar to another user, but it's locked inside my vault and I can't find the paper where I wrote down my recovery phrase. I thought I was being smart by writing it down instead of screenshotting it, but now I’m completely fucked and out $5k.

​I literally tried pleading with Reddit and OpenSea to just manually transfer the avatar to the guy for me, but they both gave me the same generic corporate response: "You have to access the vault by entering the recovery phrase." They can't do shit because it's on the blockchain.

​Now I'm staring at a completely blank wallet. Twelve words stood between me and five grand, and I managed to lose them. FML.

• "Mercy" — the king is spared and returns more powerful than ever.
• "Guillotine" — the king is beheaded, clearing the way for a new contender.
