Anyone else at the BCR on 8/8 subjected to extremely invasive/groping security?
I’m posting to see if anyone else experienced this at the BCR event on 8/8 and whether I’m being overly sensitive.
At security, the security officer conducted what I would consider an extremely invasive full-body search: she grabbed/squeezed my breasts and genitals, ran her hands from the very top of my thighs down my bare legs, and over my bare back. I was wearing a short, thin cotton dress that was open in the back and low in the front, so there really wasn’t anywhere for anything to be concealed. The same thing happened to all of the women behind me.
I emailed BCR the next day, and they responded that they had received multiple similar reports, including from their own staff. They said they were working with the venue to understand why security was permitted to conduct searches like this.
I followed up asking what actually happened (ie whether the security personnel involved were identified, whether there was an investigation or consequence, and what would be changed for future events). Followed up again. I haven’t received a response to either.
Curious if anyone else was there and experienced the same thing. I’m honestly pretty bothered that BCR is seemingly claiming responsibility while also washing their hands of it.

Good bars / intimate clubs to go early before basement Saturday
Trying to think of some options early in the night before heading to basement. Hopefully line won’t be as long like last weekend but I’m preparing for that since they r closed Fridays this month.
Bossa and Gabriella are two things on my mind, haven’t been to the latter so inclined to check it out. Kind of want to avoid a cover but I’m with whatever. Maybe mansions is another good option. Anyways anyone have any bar recs in surrounding areas?
UK raver looking for underground scene?
I’m visiting NYC solo from the UK, 15–20 September, and would love to experience the proper underground/alternative scene.
I’m mainly into hardcore, happy hardcore, hardstyle, tekno, gabber, and free party stuff, and want to find smaller underground party/collective/warehouse-events rather than commercial clubs. Are there any collectives, promoters, venues, Instagram pages, Telegrams etc. I should follow? Also interested in any free parties/more underground stuff but idk what the scene is like in nyc.
Anyone Else Have Issues With Pacha nyc’s drink package?
Just wanted to share a heads up for anyone buying the drink package at Pacha NYC.
I’ve been to Pacha twice and purchased the 5drink package both times. The first time, they stopped serving me before I thought I had redeemed all five drinks. At the time, I assumed I might have miscounted, so I didn’t make an issue out of it.
A few weeks ago, I went back and bought the 5drink package again, and the exact same thing happened. I had not redeemed five drinks, but I was told that my package had already been fully used.
What concerns me is that customers have no way to see their own redemption history or remaining drink balance. I also couldn’t find a clear policy on Pacha’s website explaining how redemptions are tracked or what customers should do if there is a discrepancy. You basically have to rely entirely on what their system/staff says, without being able to verify how many times your package was actually scanned.
I can’t say what caused it, but after having the same experience twice, I wanted to put this out there so other people are aware. If you buy a drink package at Pacha, keep track of every redemption yourself and speak to someone immediately if the count doesn’t seem right…
UPDATE: Since many people have said they’ve experienced the same issue, I think one thing we could do next time this happens is ask the staff if they can show us the redemption history or explain exactly how they’re counting the credits on the package.
If you know you haven’t redeemed all of your drinks and they tell you your package is already used up, it might be worth asking how many redemptions their system shows and when they were recorded, rather than just letting it go like I did the first time. At the very least, it would be helpful if customers had some way to verify how their credits are being used.
It’s also probably a good idea to keep track of every drink you redeem yourself. For anyone who has personally experienced this, another option could be to send Pacha a complaint email explaining what happened and asking them to look into it. If enough customers independently report the same issue, hopefully they’ll investigate what’s going on and make the system more transparent.
We could also consider simply not buying the drink packages until the issue is addressed. They’re advertised as being cheaper, but if you pay for 5 drinks and don’t actually receive all 5, you’re still paying for drinks you never got, which defeats the purpose of getting the package in the first place.
And as a last resort, if you paid for drinks you genuinely didn’t receive and can’t get the issue resolved with Pacha, you could contact your bank or credit card issuer and ask whether the charge is eligible for a dispute. I disputed one of my purchases after this happened to me, and my bank refunded the charge.
Hopefully, if more of us bring attention to the issue when it happens, Pacha will look into the redemption system and give customers a more transparent way to track their credits.
please also feel free to comment below if you have any suggestions!!!

Least talkative dance floors other than Nowadays (or Basement)
Something terrible happened to me last weekend at Nowadays, and I need to find somewhere else to dance at least for a while. (I had an incredible freakout which I don't even want to describe, but it was so bad that people who were there would probably recognize my face.) I accept that I won't find another place quite as good, and that's okay, but I'm surprised by just how difficult it has been so far to find a place where I even feel comfortable at all. I'm playing on hard mode anyway because I'm not taking drugs for a while.
Friends and ravers, what have I missed? I'm so sure this can be done, I'm not at all too pretentious to love another club, I just got so used to the ways that Nowadays was good. I know plenty of you have the same tastes/needs and I can't imagine that we are all just going to the same one or two clubs forever?
I had a terrible time at Refuge this weekend (but they are obviously doing a different thing from what I want, and they have sick gigantic disco ball, so absolutely no disrespect I just don't enjoy the more cocaine-ish end of the club spectrum). I'm going to Signal this weekend but I'm a little worried about going on a house night. I might check out Paragon the night after. Can anyone who has spent time at those places speak to this? Do people talk? Are they getting weird w it dancing w true openness even at 11 or 12? Assume I'm always showing up at rsvp times w the intention of staying for hours.
I am hoping to find something more to my taste than Elsewhere or (the non-basement portion of) Knockdown, which I always think of as more like venues for shows (or at least as shining more when serving that function), and again in my experience people are there to hang out. Does that track for others? (I haven't been to either for a few years.) Basement is obviously great, but I feel like I had already had enough of that place for a good little while, and it bothers me how hard it is to get RSVPs.
(The membership+rsvp+special line-jumping card system at nowadays is so good and makes it so easy to go there all the time if you are the sort that has energy to burn. If there is ANYWHERE else that works at all like this I'd sacrifice vibes for the ability to go on a whim. Any leads in that respect would be doubly appreciated.)
I'm sorry if this post is bullshit. I'm really just feeling so fucked up about having this unexpected episode seemingly ruin what had been such a great summer, and appreciating how much that specific club had been doing for my life. Please friends help me fill the hole.
EDIT: thank you all for the supportive conversation and caring advice. I might stop replying out of hitting a point of redundancy.
Just to address one thing, I made the decision that trying to continue to do something I love would be more grounding than uprooting my routines (missing context, I just went through a lot of uproot in the last few years and was hoping i finally found some stability back in new york). It might in fact be true that I need to step away, and if so I will not be able to avoid that conclusion for long. Given everything I know, I don't think I'm a danger to anyone dancing sober (esp since the incident didn't happen on a dance floor, it was in the yard), but I'm trying to be as cautious as possible. I hope I'm not disrespectfully putting others at risk, but since what happened was totally unprecedented, unbelievably bad, and yet still non-violent, I just don't see it the way some of the more cautious comments see it. I agree with Nowadays decision though, just to be clear.
I did not mention this, but I have the ability to spend the rest of August on a farm upstate where I volunteer, and I am seriously considering doing it. I'm not totally un-grounded! I do have a life outside, non-partying hobbies and interests, other friends... I just wanted to try to move on in a certain way in these first raw weeks after this crazy unexpected traumatic thing happened. I hope people can respect that! But you guys are giving me good input for thinking that idea through. Thank you.
EDIT 2: I'm 32 and have no history of mental illness. Prior to this summer I had not taken k or gone to a club for over 2 years, and was doing very different things. I've used m fewer than 10 times in my whole life, probably more like 5. I have a therapist who is a doctor and have been seeing him for years; I do not have an undiagnosed delusional disorder.
I'm prepared to give up all drugs and all club-going if necessary, but I don't think that is the right reaction to this event. I appreciate well-meaning advice, but I don't think some of the more condescending comments are really to the point. I have gotten lots of perspectives on this event too, so it is not just me being in my head. And I am not uneducated when it comes to drugs, nor do i obtain drugs from sketchy unknown sources, particularly not these kinds of drugs. I don't even have a history of problem use. Please, with love and respect, do not comment or message me to share your contrary views on these particular questions.
I guess this post is worth leaving up, so I will! Wish you all the best
Club on Broadway
I passed by a club on Broadway a couple blocks north of canal a few months ago. A long long down the block at midnight or so on a weekend! I can’t find the name anywhere. Is it still open? I have googled and got removed from another Reddit page bc I can’t find the answer of this club / bar! I remember seeing it on a meme page too
techno in nyc
hello, i am born and raised from nyc and i just spent the past half year in germany. i fell in love with the techno scene, not edm not super house but the industrial techno scene. i am a queer woman and i would club often and i fell in love with the music and just the ambiance i loved to just dance for hours and i became super involved in the dj scene and met djs and saw their processes when producing music and it was just a very incredible experience. i am back in nyc and was wondering if there are places that might be similar to what i had in germany here in nyc. i love all boroughs and i like staying out for a while with other people planning to dance hard and who enjoy the techno scene.
How will Seth Troxler, Loco Dice and Victor Calderone be at Pacha this weekend?
Will they throw down or did they all sell out and play bullshit min tech rap edits all night?
Zeds Dead and ZITP
I saw Zeds Dead at FH on Friday before going to ZITP on Saturday, and I need to say: I was really underwhelmed by Zeds Dead, and blown away by Porter Robinson.
I was in the bowl for Zeds Dead, so not the best seats/sound, but I felt like their set was pretty low energy, relied super heavily on old slow hip hop flips, and really lacked effective transitions. They were letting every other song echo out before hitting play on the next one. I’ve seen Zeds Dead 4 times and nothing about this set felt new.
Then the next day Porter has me locked in by the first drop, and proceeds to go tf off for the entire set, playing fresh versions of all his hits and really smoothly transitioning from one song to the next. It was my 3rd Porter DJ set and the best one I’ve seen yet.
Especially for this being Zeds Dead’s pre-hiatus tour, I came away feeling like they are lacking inspiration and direction. Having seen Griz pre and post hiatus, I thought his sound and direction were way more thoughtful and energetic than ZD. And Porter’s ability to endlessly and creatively remix his songs for new contexts just made me feel like ZD are coasting and not really innovating.
No hate to Zeds Dead or anyone who enjoyed their show! But just wondering if others feel the same way.
