Auto driver refuses to put meter? Know the rule in Bengaluru

Just sharing this because many people may not know this.

As per the Bengaluru RTA fare revision, the auto fare is ₹36 for the first 2 km and ₹18 for every km after that. The revised fare came into effect from August 1, 2025.

Also, the Bengaluru Traffic Police Spot Fines list says:

“Demanding Excess Fare & refusal to come for hire etc., by Autorickshaw Driver or Taxi Driver”

  • 1st offence – ₹500
  • 2nd & subsequent offences – ₹1,000

This is listed under Rule 13(U) of the KMV Rules read with Section 177 of the MV Act.

So if an auto driver refuses to put the meter and says “meter haakalla”, don't fight with him.

If it is safe:

  • Record the auto number
  • Record the refusal/video
  • Note the time and location
  • Report it to Bengaluru Traffic Police/Transport Department with the evidence.

The fine is not automatically ₹5,000. The BTP spot-fine list specifically shows ₹500 first time and ₹1,000 for subsequent offences for excess fare/refusal to come for hire.

and if u need your district RTA auto fare price you can check the respective DISTRICT RTA website if nothing shown related to auto fare price then u can go for RTI

My Chocolate Labrador Lashley was Abandoned without my knowledge. I'm Still Looking for Him.

This post is a part of my final attempt to find my chocolate labrador lashley who was abandoned 5 years ago by my father. I will first post a short introduction before explaining lashley's story in detail.

About Lashley:

Chocolate Labrador Retriever

Nicknames: Boochie, Dachaley, Laboli

Distinctive white patch on his chest also known as bolo marks

Age when he was abandoned - 3 1/2 years old

Current age - 8 to 9 years old

Last known area: Domlur, Bengaluru (near Jogupalya, Indiranagar & Ulsoor)

If anyone living in Bangalore recognizes him, knows someone who might have adopted him, or have any information at all—even if it seems insignificant—please leave a comment or contact me through WhatsApp/call +91 8660826795

Detailed explanation of what actually happened & why he was abandoned

Back in 2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic, my family was going through a very difficult time financially and personally. Also during this time my father was suffering from severe chronic depression and other mental issues. After some time we had just moved to a new house, so my dad left Lashley to stay at my grandmother's house and claimed he would bring him to our new house. My father told me he would bring him to our new home once everything settled down. But few months passed by and this did not happen. During that time I used to visit him during the weekends. Some of the pics & videos i have posted here are during that time

So one day without my knowledge, according to my grandmother's account he claimed to take lashley for a walk and when he had returned lashley wasn't there with him. When he was asked about it he told her he had sold it or given it to someone but did not mention the specifics like to whom. When he came home he did not tell us about this. A few days later, my father took his own life at my grandmother's house. It was only then that we found out. During that time, our family was consumed by the shock, grief , funeral, legal matters, and everything that followed after my father's death so our thoughts were consumed by this and finding lashley wasnt at the forefront of our minds I also did not want to disturb my mother and other family members by bringing this up.

After some time we decided to search for lashley but had no idea where he went or with whom he was. We visited some well known breeders and rescue organisations but couldn't find him. Also found out that my father had also given away lashley's vaccination certificates & other things like prescriptions from the vets. So i had lost hope and finally decided that it was almost impossible to ever see him again. I loved him so much and wanted to be with him till his final years this was what made it so bad. I couldn't even see him to wish him a final goodbye before he left me. He was an extremely expressive and affectionate lab who always loved to be around me. I can't imagine how panicked and lost he must have felt after he was given away. He loved me like no other dog ever did. So I just suppressed those memories and went on with my life. But it just didn't work. For the past few months I have been feeling intense regret that I didn't do enough to find him, that I had in a way betrayed him. I kept dreaming about him regularly - both positive and disturbing dreams. So i finally decided I need to make a final and serious attempt to find him before he leaves this world. I want to be with him through his final years.

My search efforts will be both offline and online - I will visit every rescue organisation, veterinary clinics , breeders, pet boarding schools and kennels in my city. I will also be creating pages on every social media platform where I will be documenting and updating my search efforts. Even if the search fails i atleast get to preserve lashley's memories and get to tell his story to many. Hope this post wasn't too long. Thank you for reading

BMTC buses are now accepting offline NCMC card payments

BMTC is finally live on NCMC card payments. These are completely offline payments and don't require an internet connection.

This makes the payments very fast and avoids the time required to pay and confirm though UPI. The payments are instant. As soon as we tap the card, payment completes without making any network requests, just like metro AFC gates.

NCMC (National Common Mobility Card) cards can either be bought from any BMRCL metro station or BharatYatra card is available on Blinkit, Zepto and flipkart minutes.

Any NCMC card will work but the BharatYatra card has the advantage of writing the offline balance in the card through Android phones having NFC. That eliminates the need to go to metro terminals to load the balance after online recharge.

Also, NCMC cards work across almost all metro rails in India.

Yellow Line appreciation post

Exactly a year ago, the yellow line was opened to the public with an impractical train frequency of 25 mins!
Today, all the trains are delivered as promised by TRSL as promised. The trains run at 6 mins frequency and carry almost a lakh passengers each day.

If it weren't for the grit and determination of all the people who pushed for the opening of the metro line despite the limited availability of trainsets, we wouldn't be here today.

We are already hearing news of the line being extended to Attibele, to meet the Tamil Nadu border and possibly have an interchange with a line from Tamil Nadu.
This is the kind of progress transit needs to make in Bengaluru.

I hope the Pink Line opens soon.
Luckily, it won't have the same problems as the Yellow line since 8 trainsets are already delivered by BEML.

#BoycottBengaluruAutos

#BoycottBengaluruAutos

Guys and Gals, let us start a #BoycottBengaluruAutos movement on all social media. They have become the worst pieces of shit this city has to deal with!

It's bad enough that they got Rapido bikes banned, now they've started attacking those are going to office with pillion riders.

They need to be stopped, their arrogance has to stop.

It wont cost you much to boycott them. Here's a comparison for an average ride.

Vehicle Type Base Rate 6 km Cost 6 km Cost (Surcharge)
App-Based Auto ₹36 (First 2 km) + ₹18/km ₹108 ₹162 (+50% from 10 PM to 5 AM)
Cab (Mini) ₹100 (First 4 km) + ₹24/km ₹148 \~₹163 (+10% from 12 AM to 6 AM)

\*Note: The prices above reflect the official base metered cost. Ride-hailing apps will add an additional 5% GST and platform convenience fees to the final bill.\*

Let's take the temporary pain to teach them a lesson. I don't have other social media accounts so I'm only sharing on reddit. You guys do your part and share on all your social media accounts.

500EB - no bus after 7PM

Is it only me or 500EB is not passing through the Tin Factory.

At times it may appear but most of the time it never appears.

I wait almost 1hr or more than it, and if I am lucky it arrives or else I have to book an Auto.

So I am not really sure about it's frequency.

Once I waited for 2hrs , just to see if it was ever going to arrive, and it didn't.

Just want to know from you commuters, if you face the same issue?

One Card, Three Modes — This Is How Public Transport Should Work 🚇🚌

Today in Delhi, I got to experience just how convenient NCMC can actually be.

I’m currently in Delhi, and during this trip I’ve been using my Bharat Yatra NCMC card across all three modes shown on the card itself — Namo Bharat RRTS, Delhi Metro, and buses.

Today, I used the same card to simply tap in and tap out on the Metro and Namo Bharat, and tap it on the bus to generate my ticket. No QR codes, no opening apps, no waiting for anything to load. Just tap and travel.

QR tickets work, but when you’re travelling frequently, a physical card is honestly much more convenient.

The Bharat Yatra card itself cost just ₹50. And if you have an NFC-enabled Android phone, you can even check and update the balance of the card’s offline wallet through the app. With an iPhone or a phone without NFC, you still need to visit the relevant Metro station or use the bus conductor’s machine to update the balance after a recharge.

Hopefully, as more Bengaluru Metro lines come up, NCMC acceptance expands across BMTC buses, and eventually K-RIDE becomes operational, Bengaluru can get a similar truly integrated system.

One card for every mode of public transport — that’s the kind of multimodal transport ecosystem I’d love to see in Bengaluru. 🇮🇳

Bike taxi crackdown is screwing up daily commute

The recent bike taxi crackdown has made commuting so much harder 😭 Rapido/Uber Bike are taking forever to find a rider now, and even then there’s no guarantee someone will accept.
I understand there are legal/regulatory issues around bike taxis, but for people who actually use them for daily office commute, this is a HUGE inconvenience. Autos/cabs are either expensive or just take forever, especially during peak hours.
Does anyone know how long this crackdown is expected to last? Is there any realistic timeline for bike taxis to become properly available again?
Also, **if anyone is travelling from Doddanekundi towards HSR Layout on weekdays**, I would genuinely appreciate a lift/carpool for a few days until this mess settles 😭 Happy to split fuel costs.

Bengaluru’s biggest IT hub still doesn’t have a safe BMTC bus stop.

Thousands of people work at Manyata Tech Park, pay taxes, and keep this city’s economy running.

Yet, in 2026, BMTC passengers are still dropped on a flyoverbecause the service road is under construction.

There is no proper bus stop. You get down into moving traffic and somehow find your way across the road.

The worst part? This isn’t new. It’s been like this for the last 3–4 years, as far as I’ve seen.

Why do we have to wait for an accident or a viral post before basic public infrastructure gets fixed?

Dasarahalli to Jigani

ok so I started a new job which requires me to travel from one end of bangalore to another, I've been taking the metro from Dasarahalli to Delta Electronics Bommasandra and then a bus to jigani later.

I was wondering about any alternatives to metro cause I get nauseous in it.
According to my research theres a NICE-10 bus which takes me from Madavara to Electronic city through the nice road and I love it.

but I'm fairly new this part of town and was wondering if there are better routes, is there any version of NICE-10 that takes me to Bommasandra?

what are the timings and fees etc

If anyone frequents these routes, I'd be really grateful if they can help me out!!

This is what my daily commute looks like and I hate every moment of it
