Hi everyone! Check out my bass and synth cover (featuring my new M-VAVE FM-1) 🙂 Purple Disco Machine – "Hypnotized" – such a fun track to play! I’d also really appreciate it if you could subscribe to the channel! Thank you!
P.S. Everything was recorded on the Hotone Ampero II Stage, including the preset for the FM-1.

Stevie Wonder – I Was Made to Love Her [full version on YouTube]

Bass part originally played by James Jamerson. This is a great example of him using open strings for a change of position of his fretting hand and using them as practically ghost notes while raking across the strings with his plucking hand to get to a lower note.

Tab Reading Help for a Sheet Music Reader

I just bought my first bass guitar last week and I’m having trouble finding sheet music for many of the songs I want to learn. My brain is having a lot of trouble trying to understand tabs and I was wondering if anyone had seen a good resource that teaches tab reading to those who normally read sheet music, so when I can only find the tab for a song I can still play it.

Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell – Ain’t No Mountain High Enough [full version on YouTube]

Bass part originally played by James Jamerson. Much has been said about his sound and style: plucking with just his index finger (“The Hook”), the Precision Bass with flatwound strings and high action, the foam mute at the bridge, the chromatic runs and frequent use of open strings etc. But rarely have I seen mentioned what is absolutely essential, at least in this tune: due to his right hand playing position with the middle, ring, and little finger resting on the pickup cover, his thumb was floating above the strings, making it very easy for him to mute the lower open strings with it.
