Is it just me or is Beaverton/ Hillsboro on a hill?

Going from Portland and spending most of my life in Portland I sometimes go to Beaverton and I noticed it has a hilly feeling? Is it only me or is it a real thing? I worked in construction a long time and work out there and noticed the houses were on hilly areas compared to Portland being mostly flat.

donation recommendations for stationary

Over the years, i have bought colored pencils, pens, notebooks, clips, note cards, etc. that i never ended up using. What is a good place that allow used stationary? they’ve been lightly used and are in pretty good condition. I don’t want to throw them away or give them away to thrift stores since many have started to increase their prices.

edit: wow there’s already so many recommendations. thank yall 😭 please continue to recommend more places. especially ones that donate to children! might even buy some more supplies to donate :)

Oregon said F the gas tax

Kudos to Oregonians for getting this one, right. Even though the left tried to circumvent the will of the voter by having this on the November ballot, Oregon did the right thing today!!

Nice Old Poor Guy Needs a Home

I need a place to live, but my income, while steady, is much lower than the rent in most of the possibilities in the Portland Metro area.

I'm a retired writer/artist/crafter.  I'm quiet, somewhat introverted, with a prominent sense of humor.  I'm a gender-nonconforming male who is tolerant and accepting of others.  Kindness and compassion should be the goal of everyone.  I'm experienced with home repairs, and organic gardening.  I am open to a certain amount of non-strenuous work in exchange for rent or partial rent.

I would appreciate any leads you have.  (I think I've tried pretty much all the agencies and low-income resources.)  Trying to think outside of the box, as you can see.

Tried universal coffee on Allen

Today we finally stopped by @universal.coffeeor to try their breakfast burrito and get a coffee.
I’ve passed by this little shop a lot and it’s a walk up window but it looks like they have a pretty dope outdoor seating area and green space.

I tried the
•chicken chorizo breakfast burrito (snack size)
•horchata coffee for the first time and it was really delicious!

This little shop is a two man show and I thought they had some decent pricing. If you haven’t tried @universal.coffeeor I suggest you stop by today!

📍14225 SW Allen Blvd Beaverton, OR 97005
Hours M-Sat 7-3 and Sun 7-2

•best walk up coffee shop •delicious breakfast burritos •best coffee •authentic Mexican coffees

I’ll literally take anything besides driving or food service. Rejected from 7 positions within just this week. Im running out of savings. Im a transplant and have been looking for a job since January. Not even fred fucking meyer will take me. I don’t have any degrees or specializations like being a certified dental assistant etc. but im also not overqualified to be getting rejected from a god damn grocery store. I have consistent and stable employment history and im reliable. What the hell am I doing wrong? I need a job NOW! Who will hire me???

Not sure what just happened on my way to Costco.

Scared the daylight out of me. I wouldn't have been able to stop if he kept going. Maybe he had some ultra-OCD thing about the blue dots painted on the road?

Allergies - Help!

Hi neighbors,

I live in the Sexton Mountain area and this is my second allergy season here. Beautiful neighborhood but my seasonal allergies have been absolute HELL since moving here. I’m a native Oregonian and I’ve never ever had seasonal allergies until moving here.

Last summer, taking a daily generic Claritin from Walgreens worked great. This year? Not even close. I’ve been desperately trying to find anything that helps. Every time I go outside my eyes swell up, I get headaches, and my whole body gets itchy. It’s been affecting my daily life and it’s been rough.

A couple weeks ago I went to the optometrist because one of my eyes was drooping. Turns out it actually was caused by seasonal allergies, just like I suspected. They prescribed me steroid eye drops, which help indoors, but the second I step outside I start looking like Quasimodo again.

Has anyone else in the Beaverton/Sexton Mountain area dealt with this? Any recommendations for medications, allergy shots, eye drops, natural remedies, air purifiers, literally ANYTHING?

I’m desperate at this point 😭

Catan in Beaverton tonight!

Hopefully I’ll see some of you there at Taproom 122.

Corner of Murray and Allen behind the Urgent Care.

There is a food truck there and I plan on playing from 5-9. If you have a Catan set and can bring just in case? Let’s see how this goes. Super casual you guys, I’m just looking to play! From the recent posts it sounds like we can probably field 2-3 games of 4. But if you’re planning on playing, please give a heads up.

Places to pick Marionberries?

Hey all!

I'm new to the area and every summer my family and I like to pick wild marionberries and blackberries. They're great for jams and pies, and since blackberries are an invasive species, it's great for the environment.

Does anyone know of a good spot in the area that's open for picking in the summer months?

Thanks in advance!
