RPT got screwed again on this union deal — we have no voice and Bell needs to wake up

Once again, RPT got the short end of the stick on this union deal. The contract hit RPT hard, and it feels like we were dragged through it with no real say. We have no voice, and it sure looks like nobody cares about us unless it affects their own cheque.

This deal basically segregates us into RFT, RPT, and PPT. Now it’s going to be RFT vs. RPT vs. PPT. Permanent part-time workers are going to get a little more scraps than Regular part-time workers, while Regular full-time sits on WOW and we do all the labor for the scrap treats. People can’t live with this kind of inconsistency, and there’s no way RPT can deal with waiting another four years for the contract to get us anywhere. We got screwed again.

This union looks like they’re looking out for themselves, and we’re left like the dogs of this company, being thrown scraps. Bell needs to wake up. This is insanity.

Why do a lot of people like to get bundled internet, mobility and other services.

So , I really have a question. Why do people bundle their services and never switch carriers. I mean, my home internet is with rogers, $50 pre tax for 2.5GBPS. I have 2 mobility lines with telus. 1 mobility line with freedom and 1 mobility line with bell.

Why are there no cheaper plans?

They’ve increased my internet by around $40 now without telling me in the last two months and I can’t even do that through the app, but alone my phone bill is $85 and it’s literally the cheapest option. The cheapest option is $85 at 200 GB, why tf would I need that much anyway I use 40 max first of all, and I could go to the $40 while paying $20 per gb and get on my knees and blow bell but for some stupid reason, there are no plans that offer less data for a cheaper price so I’m stuck with an $85 phone plan I’ve been paying for, for 4 years. Between internet and phone, I’m paying $176

Bell fibe tv guide not loading

Just had this annoying issue where no channels worked and guide was not opening up to anything with error code 1014.

My modem and receiver reset 4 times each nothing worked. No solutions online either.

Cleared the cache and reloaded the guide. Problem solved.

Settings>>Device Settings>>Apps>>Fibe TV>>Clear Cache

Hope this helps someone else.

Got sent fake offer and then got changes to my account (double in price) without authorization

Guys, looking for some advice on what I should do here. It's a bit of a long story so bear with me.

On May 15 (Friday), I got an email with the offer of 175GB for $40/month. I currently pay $52/month, so I immediately called them to try to get this offer. I was on the phone with them for over an hour, got passed around 3-4 departments, each time I'll have to re-explain my situation. Just for them to tell me that they cannot find this offer in my profile. That already raised a big concern. Why are you sending offers to your customers, giving them a promo code, asking them to call you, just to waste their time on the phone and say offer is not available. They said that they'll escalate this to higher ups, to see if they can get me this offer.

Fast forward to today, May 20 (Wednesday). I got 3 emails from Bell, saying that "as per you request", they've made changes to my mobility plan. They've now switched my plan to $95/month. Which is just ridiculous.

I called Bell immediately, furious, as to why they would make a change to my account, say that I requested for a plan that's almost double the price of what I'm paying now, without my consent. When I was on the phone with the agent, he said that he sees on my profile that they've given me a call today, and that they've explained the situation on the phone with me, that they're gonna change my plan to the $95 one. I did not get a single phone call from Bell at all today.

Then he so graciously "upgraded"(his words) my plan to a $50/month plan (as opposed to my previous $52/month plan) to 'compensate' for this mistake.

What else can I do here? Can I submit another customer complaint about how unproessional this is? I can't believe they just made up a phone call and changed my plan to a much more expensive plan.

Customer service jokers!

Bell customer service at its finest! I am talking about cell phone plans!

Edit: all those smart people telling me “what does it say next”, “Op is not sharing the next message maybe they resolved it”

Newsflash!!!! They still have no clue about the cell phone plans they sold me. It’s been a day

Is this a good plan?

I'm an internet customer and I've been checking the mobile plans section for months now, waiting for a good deal. They were always pretty shit, but today I have this available.

Is that pretty much the best you can get? It seems packed with value. Crave (usually 12$/month), 1 year Perplexity Pro (30$/month), unlimited data, including 2y Mexico and Caribbean.

Besides the usual Bell rate hike, any catches? Is that great?

Gigahub 2.0 PPPoE Issues

Hey everyone,

I don't know what to do with that mess of a Giga Hub 2.0 for anyone trying to run a homelab. I know this issue has been reported by many people here already, but I’ve done a ton of due diligence testing every configuration possible and I'm still stuck at a dead end...

I am on the 1.5G / 1G fiber plan in Quebec. If I plug my gaming PC directly into the Giga Hub 10G port, I pull 1.6 Gbps down easy.

The nightmare starts when routing to my firewall. I run bare-metal OPNsense on a Sophos XG230 Rev 2 (i7-6700T, Intel 10G NIC). Local iperf3 routing tests push an easy 9.5 Gbps, so the hardware is not the bottleneck.

Here is the behavior I am seeing:

  • PPPoE Passthrough: Hard capped at ~815 Mbps down. I checked top -aSH on the firewall during the test to see if FreeBSD’s single-threaded PPPoE was choking a core. Nope. The worker threads are coasting at 25% to 30% utilization. The i7-6700T can easily handle multi-gigabit routing, and also sometimes I did get like 1.2 Gbits speed no way to understand or replicate why.
  • Advanced DMZ: Completely unstable. Yesterday I toggled ADMZ and actually saw my full 1.6 Gbps. Today? I can't replicate it at all. It dropped right back to the same ~800 Mbps ceiling as PPPoE. It seems like the second the lease syncs, the Hub falls out of its hardware-acceleration path and chokes.
  • The Port 443 Hijack: On top of the speed drops, when ADMZ is active, the Giga Hub swallows inbound traffic on port 443. I ran a tcpdump on the WAN interface and I can see inbound SYN packets arriving on port 80, but absolutely zero inbound packets ever hit on port 443. The Hub completely intercepts it...

Right now, the only way I can get my full 1.6 Gbps down to my firewall is to run a standard Double NAT setup....

Has anyone actually found a way to get the Giga Hub 2.0 to stop throttling PPPoE passthrough? Or just any success. Even ADMZ Is a mess with the 80/443 port issues...

I am seriously considering just buying a WAS-110 SFP+ module...

Fibe TV app on AppleTV shows DolbyVision on SN and TSN 4K channels, but the AppleTV thinks it’s SDR.

The Fibe app shows DV (Dolby Vision) in the top right (first pic), but it doesn’t change the AppleTV to DV output. It’s still SDR, as shown in the second pic. AppleTV is set to match dynamic range, and it switches the TV to DV when streaming other services in DV. Is the icon in the corner from the Fibe app lying?

Error 1202 No HSI

I have read a few of the older 1202 issues, I got the same error the other day and just received my new modem. Unfortunately I am not very confident the new modem will resolve anything based on older posts. How long will I have to play this game with Bell Tech Support. My parent's had to go through some similar issues a few months ago and I was ready to switch to Videotron even though I personally wasn't having any issues. I keep reading that this error means there's an issue outside.

collections on a modem fee?

Ok, so here's the story:

Last year I was living in Ottawa; I had been there for a year and had bell internet service with no problems. In mid-August, I decided to move back to Toronto.

The night before we were set to move, I called Bell customer service to ask that my service be transferred to my new apartment. The customer service person proceeded to tell me that since my current contract was almost up, I should sign up for a new internet contract that came bundled with TV and whatever, etc etc for only an extra $10 of what I was paying then. She wouldn't budge on trying to sell me this deal when I insisted that I needed help first and foremost on moving my service to my new apartment and that I did not want to sign up for a new deal. I was already super stressed out from the packing left to do, and I felt that this customer service/sales person was taking advantage of my stressful situation. I hung up on her because of how frustrating the experience was.

The next day, I set out in the van and left Ottawa for the last time, with all my stuff packed. Or so I thought. I had forgotten the modem. My Ottawa apartment was one of those newer condos and the modem had its own little dedicated wall sconce, like a breaker box, with its own door and inside a utility closet. Easy to forget.

Once back in Toronto, I realize I forgot the modem. I'm not doing a 10-hour round trip to retrieve the thing. I call Bell and explain the situation. I explain I can't retrieve the old modem. I ask if they can still move my service to my new apartment. They say yes, and proceed to get me set up. They send over a technician to install my new service and set up a new modem.

Later, I find out that what the Bell customer service person did was to open a new internet account for my new apartment instead of just transferring the old one over. So now they were charging me for two accounts, one of which I no longer used and hadn't been used for months now. It wasn't visible on my Bell account on the website or phone app. I had been getting emails for the bills. I thought that they were merely sending duplicate emails for the same account, until I noticed that the account numbers were different. In my interactions with customer service I had been led to believe that they were helping me transfer the account. Instead, they just opened up a new one and did nothing about the old one.

Sorting out this whole fiasco was incredibly frustrating and Bell extremely unhelpful. In November I decided to cancel my Bell service and switch to a new provider. I returned the new modem they had given me, paid my balances, and considered my hands washed clean of it.

Now, in the past few weeks, they have been sending me that I owe $224 for the old modem. They say it may go to collections. What should I do about this? I am incredibly annoyed and surprised at the gumption these people have to try to continue to squeeze more out of me.

  • In Ottawa, they tried to sell me more stuff instead of helping me when I called them in a vulnerable position.
  • In my new apartment, they led me to believe they were helping me move my account when instead they opened a new one without telling me the old one still existed. They proceeded to try to double charge me for two accounts. This is some kind of weaponized incompetence.
  • Now, months after the accounts have been cancelled, they are trying to collect on their modem. This is after I explained, and they understood, that I couldn't retrieve it. I feel like with this understanding they forfeited the modem. Furthermore, I understand that their modems can't be reused - so it's basically a piece of junk to them at this point.

Any help is appreciated. Happy to provide more context if needed.

Quick question

Recently switched to Telus due to falling out with Bell, but having the exact same Internet connectivity problems due to them using the same line Bell used. Already went back and forth with Bell for a very very long time, but long story short, they refuse to look deeper than a light test because they claim they don't need to help us further if, "on their end, everything is fine".

I'm in the process of contacting CCTS, and just wanted to make sure this is the best course of action. My logic is they'll force Bell to actually fully inspect our Internet lines, but maybe I'm misunderstanding. Thank you

Looking for a Bell Internet seller for a good deal

I've heard people are getting 1.5 Gbps internet for $55, including a perpetual discount...I know the price can go up over time, but this is way better than my 150 Mbps/$60 from CarryTel. Anyone know how I can get this deal in Ottawa?

Home Internet Issues

Has anyone had this issue with their bell home internet that it completely drops RTP packets (voip/whatsapp/etc.), camera/NVR traffic, some UDP packets (steam/game), etc.?

Rebooting the modem fixes this for a few hours before the issue returns.

I've tried banging my head with bell support multiple times, modem replaced, played with all the settings that I can get alter (SIP ALG, ipv6, DLNA, etc.) - nothing seems to resolve this issue.

When did it start?

Moved into a new place, new connection (less than a week); previous owners also had bell (no issues - I confirmed).

Troubleshooting

Tried and tired of calling bell support and the first thing they do is reboot (which fixes the issue temporarily) and after my last call with them for around 2 hours they simply won't connect me to their escalation team or book a technician (unless I pay of course). And they are refusing to acknowledge the issue, obviously.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Locked in a 2 year contract. Considering to have modem in bridge mode and use my own router. Thoughts?
