Mesa Tactical PG stock skepticism - Impulse buying and its consequences

Hey guys,

So I was a bit desperate to get my hands on an OD Green 7rd 1301 with the synthetic stock. I could only find it in another color or settle with the pistol grip (or wait, which I definitely didn’t do). So I’ve bought the OD Green with Mesa Tactical pistol grip stock. I’ve heard how this stock tends to twist after a few shots and I’m personally a bigger fan of the traditional look. What’s your best recommendation as a replacement?

Magpul sga 500/870, OEM synthetic stock from beretta’s website, or a (less traditional) chisel stock?

Having bought this on rebate and a sale I’ll be getting any of these options on a discount. Also we’re not allowed to sell parts amongst ourselves in this subreddit, but is there a reliable source for people selling spare stocks?

Thanks for anyone’s input, I’m pretty naive on this subject so any advice will be helpful.

disclaimer, I haven’t shot this yet. If someone owns the mesa tactical pistol grip variant and disagrees with its reputation, or found a way to solve their twisting issues, feel free to tell me all about it

Shotlock + 1301

Need a quick access safe for my 1301. Looked at Fort Knox but the safe wont fit under my bed. Really want to avoid electronics to unlock, and I dont have room for a proper safe in my bedroom. Anyone have experience with a shotlock and their 1301? Mine is completely stock with a traditional factory stock but I do have a RDS on it..

Aridus Imperium Experience

Wanted to share my thoughts on the Imperium handguard for anyone considering aftermarket options for their 1301.

TLDR: it's tits and I reccomend it.

All the aftermarket handguards for the 1301 run $300-350, and I considered several before landing on the Imperium — including Chisel, Briley, and the LTT Heat Shield / Magpul Zhukov combo. What sold me was the single-piece construction that serves as both forend and heat shield, plus the texturing.

The fit and finish is awesome. I don't like super aggressive grip texture, and the Imperium hits the perfect balance — grippy without being aggressive. For those that use push/pull, which is something I'm trying to master currently, the Imperium feels purpose-built for it. I'm able to get a solid, confortable C-grip and there's a ton of real estate for grip placement.

One thing to note, regarding the MLOK slots adjacent to the operating rods that connect the gas piston assembly to the bolt carrier. The handguard sits so close to the operating rods that some longer MLOK bolts hit the rods when fully torqued down, therefore they cannot be used. I had to shorten the bolts for a QD attachment. Not a huge deal, and its something Aridus is vocal about, but it does require a slight adjustment.

Also I couldn't help but grab the matching bolt release and charging handle. Both are awesome quality components.

All that being said, I'm extremely happy with the Imperium and highly reccomend it. If they made one for an AR, I would totally run it.

New mod! RX Arms Charging Handle

Just added the titanium charging handle from RX Arms...love it. I had been bugging RX about the new batch eta for some time. As soon as I got it last night, I installed it on my 1301 Comp.

Fwiw...the Rx charging handle weighs ~10g on my scale and the stock handle weighs ~9g. u/rxarms

Would you trust this warped MLOK slot for a sling mount?

Looking for advice on whether I should trust this MLOK slot to anchor a QD Sling Mount.

I'm a newb and followed some Magpul QD Sling Mount installation instructions that were unclear. In the end, I warped the MLOK slot in the handguard. With some better instructions, I was able to install the QD Sling Mount snugly where one can't tell that there is damage underneath.

Since this slot is bearing the load of the gun to the sling, would you trust it? Right now, looking to only purchase additional accessories/hardware if there is a need.

Just picked up a 1301

On a whim I picked up a 1301 tac mod 2. Pretty excited to mod it to my liking. I signed up for the 300 berretta bucks. What would be a worthwhile use of that? I wanted to put an acro on it but the plate is out of stock on there.

1301 in MA?

Hi all! I’m about to take possession of a 1301 Mod C 7+1 but I may be moving to MA in a few months for work. I keep hearing mixed things about if they are allowed or not so I wanted to ask here. Anyone know if I am good with the 7+1 or should I go 5 round tube instead?

Got my Imperium handguard and Nordic Components Retaining Nut and Clamp Upgrade Kit installed

The aluminum handguard really makes a huge difference in overall feel of the shotgun. The slight bit of extra weight feels good to me as well. Man. They really nailed that texture! From pics it appears it would be more aggressive but it's super grippy without being aggressive at all. Everything nested well on the Imperium. The nordic mag tube and clamp are very good quality as well. Next up is the remote switch for the light.

Which forend would those with experience recommend?

I would like to upgrade the forend on my 1301 and wanted your opinions on the Briley, Chisel and Aridus options.

First shotgun

Anyone who bought a 1301 with a chisel stock is the grip end cap supposed to be missing?
I Might end up swapping out the grip once I start building her out so in that case any grip recommendations?

Anyone applied PPF on their 1301?

I’m considering applying paint protection film on parts that see high traffic on the 1301, for example the edges of the ejection port and shell loading area. I noticed that over time users are experiencing paint chipping and the finish rubbing off. Anyone has experience doing this?

1301 with Imperium light switch setup?

Have a 1301 with imperium handguard. Putting a Surefire 340DFT Pro on it. On my AR15s I use the surefire ds00 tailcap with sr07 switch. There are options like the Unity gas cap and modlight mod button and a new surefire CSM07 remote. Read a review from a 1301 owner stating he had to dremel down screws on the csm07 remote. So, what are you guys running on the 1301 with Imperium? I could keep it consistent and run another sr07 with a picrail adapter. 🤔
