Dumb question about the persistent rumbling around midnight

Is the ongoing rumbling fireworks, thunderstorms and lightning, noisy military flights? I’m not seeing anything of the sort from my east-facing apartment balcony, and I’m too lazy to go out for a wider look at the sky.

!!URGENT

UPDATE- a lovely building neighbor saw this and was able to provide an answer- thank you everyone for the help. 💗

Hi everyone - hoping for some community help. We are flying back from vacation today and got a notice for an emergency notice from our apartment but no idea what it’s for and can’t get ahold of anyone because of the holiday weekend.

Our pets are at home and we just would like reassurance the building isn’t burning down. It’s Edgemont (connected to The Edge) on Edgemoor Ln.

Can anyone who lives nearby stick their head out the window and let us know if they see any emergency vehicles? Pretty much anything else we can deal with. Just stressing about our pets. The pet sitter left just a bit ago and we will be home this evening but are in Toronto now.

Is there free Public Parking today?

I saw from the Montgomery County Calendar that it was free yesterday, but there's no listing for it today, the actual holiday itself.

[UPDATE] I'm 99% sure the blue Tesla villain is now illegally hogging the ADA charger.

Right before I even had a chance to complain, our management sent out a community-wide courtesy email about EV etiquette and handicap parking rules. It seemed to work initially, as the car disappeared for a short while—whether by coincidence or because of the email, I'm not sure.

But they’re back today, and I strongly suspect they’ve doubled down on their audacity.

They are parked in the B1 ADA-accessible Tesla charging space, but they’ve intentionally pulled in head-first. They have always backed in previously, so this feels like a blatant attempt to hide their dashboard from a quick glance, making it much harder for staff or other residents to easily check for a handicap placard.

I know this car's history: they previously hogged a regular charging stall for over a week without plugging in. I haven't walked up to the front to verify the placard because I don't want my face recorded on their Sentry Mode, but everything about this screams "illegal occupancy."

Seeing them potentially block a space meant for residents with disabilities, especially when our building is already short on chargers, is infuriating.

My roommate suggests I just ignore it for my own sanity. But I’m struggling with a dilemma: do I just close my eyes to this potential violation to protect my mental health, or do I keep pushing to hold them accountable?

Has anyone else reached this point of frustration with a neighbor? How do you cope when management's generic emails don't stop the behavior, and you're just left to deal with the anger?

Letter from health department

Hi everyone,

I recently received a letter from the county health department asking me to contact a specific person regarding a “confidential health matter.” The letter looks official, but it made me anxious because I have never received anything like this before.

The office is currently closed for the holiday, so I cannot call until the next business day. Has anyone received a similar letter from a local health department? What did it end up being about?

Thanks for any insight

World cup watch party?

For the USA/Belgium game on Monday? Specifically in downtown Bethesda. If not, recommendations for great place to watch the game? Mainly good screens, food and vibe.

EDIT: thank you for bar recs--guess that means there isn't a public space watch party then?

Gutter cleaning Bethesda

My family is vacating a rental house in Kensington at the end of this month. Our lease requires us to have the gutters professionally cleaned before we leave.

Could anyone reccomend a company to clean the gutters during the last two weeks of July? We are looking for the lowest price rather than the most meticulous cleaning.

Also, how much does this service cost? The house is a small, two story colonial.

[Advice needed] Neighbor blocking apartment EV charging spot for over a week without charging.

I live in an apartment complex, and there’s a blue Tesla parked in one of our B1 EV charging stalls. Here’s the catch—it’s been sitting there for over a week without even being plugged in. Just using it as a VIP personal parking spot.

I already contacted management, but they haven't done anything about it.

Seriously, what is going through this driver’s head? As an EV owner, you’d think they’d have some basic etiquette for the charging community. Has anyone else dealt with this kind of neighbor? How do you get management (or the driver) to actually take action?

Where to find good Gazpacho?

Either in a low end restaurant or grocery store. I remember Giant had it years ago and was very good but don't find it now.

Local Open Mic Nights?

I’m an (admittedly amateur) guitar player/singer and have been hoping to start performing.

Are there any places nearby that do a low-key open mic night for musicians?
