I'd love to start a big box games collection

I've always wanted to have a big box gaming collection for my PC (once I can afford to get one). Where would I start?

What were the big box games you owned back in the day

When this stuff was new and some of us had limited resources, getting a big box game was a big deal, like maybe you only get 2 or 3 in a year for Christmas or birthdays or similar.

What were the select few games that you got, and which ones convinced you just because the box art looked too cool to pass up?

Follow up question - do you still own those original big box games you got at the time/have you rebought everything you once owned out of nostalgia?

I'll give my own answers in the comments after I write them up.

May & June additions!

I spent a little too much, but Terror from the Deep and Civnet were impossible to pass by. Prisoner of Ice and Worms were steals.

Every game is in French!

I am trying to complete the Civ collection :)

I have this Factory Sealed Italian Big Box "Half-Life Generation" (1998) - A piece of gaming history!

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share this piece I have in my collection. It’s an original, factory-sealed copy of the "Half-Life Generation" Big Box PC edition (Italian release).

It’s pretty rare to find these still wrapped, and what makes it even cooler for me is that it still has the original store price sticker from "Mondadori Informatica Center" on it. It’s a nice little time capsule from the late 90s.

Does anyone else collect regional Big Box releases, or have any memories of this specific Italian edition? I’d love to hear if anyone else has stumbled upon these "old store stock" finds in their own hunts!
