Shopify vs BigCommerce for digital good

Shopify vs. BigCommerce for a small business selling around 100 digital products.

I’m currently using BigCommerce. The only problem I have with BigCommerce is their theme. I can't find a good theme for a small store. I purchased a few, and they are no longer supported and have issues. I need something simple and easy to manage. I don't want to deal with the theme and want to focus on my digital goods.

I’m not sure if I will have to pay for any plugins if I switch to Shopify.

Features I want from BigCommerce in Shopify:
\- sell digital goods
\- product collections
\- assign products to more than one category
\- features products tag
\- custom SEO on each product
\- auto email with download link sent after purchase.
\- exports sales data
\- TurboTax

Has anyone use litcommerce to sync marketplaces (walmart, amazon, ebay) into shopify. Any positive results? Looking at using this and Myworks to sync to my QB desktop

Need help with migration logistics for new headless storefront (Catalyst)

Please forgive me in advance, while not new to web development, I am new to BigCommerce.

Here's the situation:

  • Client currently has a stencil storefront, which uses a theme
  • Using Catalyst, I've built a headless storefront (next.js)
  • We no longer need the legacy stencil storefront and want to just use the Catalyst storefront (same domain name)

Is it possible to keep the legacy storefront active in the background, and simply switch the nameservers to Cloudflare, so we can manage the DNS ourselves and point it to our hosting (Vercel)?

This way, we keep all of the data intact, and simply just swap the front-end.

**Otherwise, to my understanding, we'd need to:

  • Have a dedicated "channel" for the Catalyst storefront
  • Clone categories from legacy to catalyst
  • Assign products to the catalyst channel
  • Assign products to their new categories
  • Deactivate the legacy storefront

**Side quest: In this scenario, how does the checkout process work?

Sorry if I'm not incredibly clear. To be honest, I find developing for and working with BC in this scenario extremely confusing and overwhelming.

Appreciate any help I can get.
