Brays Bayou at Spur 5 is OPEN!

New update posted from Houston Parks. Glad to not have to roll through all the broken glass on the detour anymore.

This is the section near the main U of H campus.

First Century Tips and Route Feedback

RideWithGPS Route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/56536240

Planning out my first century, and this is my current route. I’ve done a 70 miler a few months ago, and a 50 miler a month ago. I avg about 10-15 miles a day on my commute to work. Just wondering if anyone’s done a similar route on the island, and if y’all have any tips in regards to hydration, temperature control, safety, etc.

There are a couple walking segments, on the north and south ends of the route, and I’m also concerned about biking across the bridge connecting the two islands.

Edit:

I am going to drive to the island tomorrow evening, camp out, and start around 4 am, hoping to finish by noon ish, accounting for rest and a breakfast break. Doing the camp because I am planning on bikepacking in the future, so this is also a sort of trial run for that as well.
