Chinese Mobile Execution Van
Chinese mobile execution van, part of the early-2000s shift in some provinces from firing squads to lethal injection.
These vehicles functioned as mobile execution chambers, allowing courts to carry out death sentences without transporting prisoners to fixed facilities. The system was promoted at the time as a more “standardized” and “modern” approach to lethal injection, and also addressed practical constraints like cost and limited infrastructure for carrying out executions in smaller jurisdictions.
