Help beat my face for a gala!

I am attending a black tie fundraiser next month for a nonprofit that I support. I have my dress picked out, I will have silver accessories, locs back in a low ponytail, but I am makeup challenged. What color lip and eyes should I go with? Pics of dress and my normal face FYI. Thank you for your help!

Danessa myricks not working for me

I have tried everything but this is not working for me I do skin prep by washing with la roche posay black girl sunscreen and vanicream but it still comes out like this do I need another foundation?

I use the water serum and her foundation I do have oily skin it lays down Dewey then dries matte.

Are you oiling your hair wrong?

Stop using heavy sealing oils when your hair is actually begging for inside-out moisture. 🛑

Not all hair oils do the same job. Depending on fatty acid size and structure, oils fall into three distinct zones:

Penetrating (Cortex Entry): Coconut, Babassu, Palm Kernel, Ucuuba Butter, Rosemary, Olive. These small-molecule oils actually enter the cuticle layer and inner cortex to strengthen protein structure from within.

Semi-Penetrating (Cuticle Anchoring): Argan, Sweet Almond, Avocado, Safflower, Macadamia, Sesame. These sit partially in and on the cuticle to condition, soften, and smooth the surface.

Sealing (External Occlusive Shield): Grapeseed, Flaxseed, Castor, Black Castor, Mineral Oil. Large molecules that form a tight barrier to lock in existing hydration and block moisture loss.

Using a sealing oil on DRY hair simply seals the dryness in. Layering them correctly—water/hydration first, penetrating oil to nourish, sealing oil to lock it down—changes everything.

Want the full scientific breakdown of how to build a routine that actually retains length?

Are y’all boycotting damn near every brand?

Hey y’all. I just wanted to ask - not judge. Just like we’re trying our hardest as a community to boycott places like Target, are y’all doing the same for specific brands?

For me, I’m super super super into skincare, like obsessed with it. I’m always reading about new products - US & Asian specifically. & I feel like I’m a little behind in knowing which brands support genocide. Are y’all doing your research on items for your skincare & bodycare or are y’all turning a blind eye (which is fine)??

For example, L’Oreal owns soooooo many brands but they support genocide. The Ordinary (Estée Lauder owns DECIEM) are in support of the genocide. Are you still purchasing these items because they work? Or are we doing some diligence by paying a bit more attention to this? I only ask because I’m learning more & more about brands that I use regularly & am now trying to replace it with items that are evidence based & formulated well rather than being a trendy gimmick due to the marketing. But then I feel like it’s a lost cause because L’Oreal & Nestle are one and the same & I mean this is literally everything we consume !!!!!

I feel completely helpless but am trying my best to support the anti-war agenda but damn, this shit is hard. Do y’all pick & choose what you boycott lol? This is a serious convo but like how “boycott-y” do we really need to be !?

Am I the only one? 😰

Which of these makeup looks the best on me?

These are some makeup looks I’ve done in the past year or so, and I’m just wondering which one looks best on my features, so I can move forward from there and start doing my makeup that way more often. First image is the most recent. Also is there anything I should improve? TIA

Cocoa Butter, what perfume goes well with it?

So I love Cocoa butter. I grew up using this from my mama and have been using it ever since! I need a good recommendation for perfumes that will go well with this scent. :)
